how to set the default search scope for a basic search center ?

Hi there,

is it possible to set the default search scope to be used in a basic search center ? I want to have specific search centers for sitecollections so that they only query their own content by default first.

Sharepoint 2010 Advanced search box webpart - apply a default scope

My Advanced search box webpart return result from all the web appications and not just the one that it is in, i know i can create scope and spcify rules on it but i dont see an optoin of forcing
only this instance of web part to use a spific scope.

1. any way i can force it to use a scope behind the scenes instead of having the user select it.
2.i tried to use search core results web part but ASB webpart is not open to connections even though in the properties i select "Allow connection", any way to make this combination work
3.since all my web application are using the same Search service appliction, could that be the reason that the ASB is returns results from those sites as well or is it that it returns result from all the web application in the farm?
3. Is there any place on the internet where i can find documentation on all the web parts.

Search Scope Default to "this site"

I am trying to limit the search on a SharePoint site to each individual site collection.. These sites are all on the same server. I have found a way to do this by following the article below –

I change the dropdownmode on the masterpage to DropDownMode = "ShowDD_DefaultContextual" this works for all my publishing sites.

Search Scope - Default to "This Site"

I have created a root level site collection via MOSS.ÃÂ I have then added a site directory with both WSS and MOSS sites created underneath the site directory.ÃÂ The default search for all of these sites is "All Sites".ÃÂ Is there any way to make the default search for the team sites under the site directory "This Site"?

The issue is when users search for a topic using the "All Sites" scope, the results page is at the root level and it takes them out of their team site.ÃÂ They then have to navigate back to the team site.ÃÂ

I am assuming that I am creating a WSS site when I use the "Team Site" template under "Create SIte" in the site collection page.ÃÂ Is this correct?

Mysite Search Scope

Hi,
I have four search scopes in the Shared services SSP. But in sharepoint 2007 mysite i see only All sites and People search scopes in the dropdown by default. I want to enable other two search scopes for all Mysites. I know how to enable search scopes individually but i would like enable search scope globally for all Mysites in my sharepoint webapplication.

Please suggest.

FAST Search for SP2010 scope setting works but not getting results.

I am trying this from last two days , but it does not work. I have created two scopes for FAST Search Query SSA , they appear in search center , but I am not getting any results back. I see them being fired in the FAST query log.

First one is a simple one:

New-SPEnterpriseSearchQueryScope -SearchApplication "FAST Query SSA" -Name DCO -Description "All DCO Documents" -DisplayInAdminUI 1 -ExtendedSearchFilter "ContentSource:DCO"

Content source is a managed property. and i can just query "contentsource:dco" from the text box which gives me results.

When I fire the query i see it in FAST Search query log

Top-Level Search Scope not showing in Sub-Site

I've got a site 'B' created under site 'A' in SharePoint. When I'm at Site A, I can search and find things that exist in both A&B. However, when I'm in B, the 'highest' search scope I can pick is 'B.' I'd like to be able to select one step higher so that I can search A&B from any page. Is this possible?

Search does not find text in Word document stored in document library on a Report Center site within

Hello,

We have a document library on a site created off of the Report Center site template. We uploaded a Word 2007 document with the word zebra in the text. Using the search bar at the top of the page we selected This list: Our document library and searched for zebra. We received no results.

We tested the same thing on another site (site template Team site) within the same site collection and search worked fine.

Does the Report Center search function differently then the search functionality on the Team site?

Search Scope Issue

Hi,

I have 8 web applications containing different sites. One of the web applications is hosting a site called pmsportal.

Currently search results display files from all sites and from all web applications having matching results. That is like google!!! Sweet!!! BUT its over-performing! The owners of the pmsportal want search results to display only results from within their site ONLY...how do I do that? In the SSP Search Settings I have only two(2) Content Sources defined

(1) Local Office SharePoint Server sites

(2) PeopleSoft_Data

Someone please help.

Remove "I like It" , "Tags & Notes" , RecycleBin and the default search box

Hello Is it possible to remove the "I like It" and "Tags & Notes" buttons? , the default "Search this site..." box in the top? And Recycle Bin... I want to remove/hide it so we cant see it on any of our websites. Thanks in advice...

SharePoint 2010 Search Service Application: "All Content" scope contains 0 items?

I've encountered a nasty bug in our setup. Our Search Service Application manages to crawl all content just fine. However, the scopes don't work. We've got a total of 570 items currently in our crawl database. 350 of these are of class 'People', and appear in the 'People' scope. The remaining 220 items should appear in 'All Content' as part of the intra (sites, documents etc), however the 'All Content' scope reports 0 items. I've tried the following: -Creating custom scopes (still 0 items) -Recreating the Search Service Application twice -Tried different accounts as the content access account. -Ensuring that the content access accounts do have 'full read policy' -Checked the crawl log for successful content (such as sites and documents). However, despite my efforts I still get 0 items for 'All Content'. Has anyone else encountered this problem, or do you have any recommendation for us? Currently I don't see any other option than to reinstall everything.

Is there any possibility to define a search scope for a Survey

Hi All, I have a survey list in SharePoint. I need to define a search scope such that the search results are pulled only from this Survey list. I have created many scopes for lists and was always working fine without any issues. But now, i created a scope for the Survey list, with the rule to include items from the folder https://server/lists/Survey%20list.spx. Though there are around of 1000's of items in the list, after the crawl the number of items returned is zero. So, is there any way for defining a scope for a Survey? Thanks in Advance... Searching for custom properties in a default search

Hi all, I have added some custom properties in to Manage User Properties in my User Profile Service Application. The issue I'm having is that I'm unable to obtain search results from these properties. For example, if in the Enterprise Search / People tab I enter "Dave" and click search, then I'll be presented with results of people who's name matches "Dave". If I enter "Information Technology" then I'll get a list of all users who's department is "Information Technology". So far we're okay! But let's go back to the custom property. Let's say it's called "Clients" and it is for storing client names against the staff profiles. If I search for "Microsoft" and a user has Microsoft in their client property then no results are found. I've created the managed properties in the Metadata Property Mappings of my search service application, done full crawls but nothing. If I search for "clients:microsoft" then I get results. So the question is how do I or is it even possible to get custom metadata properties to show up in a default search? Thanks!

Dynamic scope for advanced search

Hi all, Is there possible for us to use dynamic scope or url as the filter in the advanced search? How to customize the search results Search Center

Actually the problem as follows: There are family units. At subnode stores a content, multimedia orientation. There Site Search Center. Search works. What should be found. Gives the correct results. By clicking on the search result, is opening a document in the associated application. This is not correct. I want to make sure that when Clicking on a search result, came to a page element's properties, and has from there if necessary you can open the document itself. Also, a secondary task, and not mandatory, but just wondering is it possible to do so in the case of finding the video clip, display piktogramka with the first frame?

Custom Advanced Search to search in 1 scope only

I have a custom searchpage, search result, advanced search page and custom scope that configured in SSP. I can set the advanced search to redirect to my custom search result but the result is not from the custom scope (from "All Sites" scope). How do i configure it so that it will search from the custom scope via custom advanced search?
