Email task is not accepting the value from TO line

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 28, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
Hi. I'm trying to send an email to the TO: address in the following format "[Fax:blablalba@blablalba]" Send mail task tells me that the input string is in the incorrect format for email. How to skip this and send it out anyway? We have an Exchange server configured, which will send that type of email to the fax gateway. Thanks heaps, Kaarel.

.net 3.5 in conjunction with CRM 4.0 email router adding code to subject line of emails causing spam

We use CRM 4.0, which is using .net framework 3.5 SP 1.  Emails sent out of CRM go through and email router and the subject line of these emails is getting "=?us-ascii?Q? added to the beginning of the subject line and "?= added to the end of the subject line. This is causing a large amount of our emails getting spammed. I was told by the CRM support that this is an issue with .net 3.5 and won't be fixed until .net 4.0, which CRM won't support for another year.  Is there not a .net 3.5 patch that can address this?

Task assignment to user without read access in 2007 results in no email to assignee, no warning to a

It appears (from observation and searching) that SP 2007 will not send a task assignment email when the assignee does not have read access for the assigned task and there is no warning when assigning a task to someone who will be unable to read it. I have not been able to find any mentions of attempting to address this quirk by either an item event listener or a workflow that would either prevent the assignment or task the originating user to fix the issue by either changing the assignment or having them added to the appropriate group.  I could see one done badly causing a cascade of tasks. The approaches that I've thought about are: Attempt to block assignment by hooking ItemAdding and ItemUpdating on the task content type.  In ItemUpdating, you could use SPListItem.DoesUserHavePermissions since the SPListItem should be there, but you'd may have check the list since I don't think SPListItem is available at that time.  I could see this causing problems when the assignment is via workflow or something that doesn't like other code interfering with its task creation. Hooking ItemAdded and ItemUpdated to assign a new task to the assigning user to either change the assignment or have the assignee added to the users with access to the site. Define a workflow which could be enabled for a list that would check if any new or modified task is assigned to users with

notification email not sent when updating a task programmatically

I have a task that's in the task list and has no value in the Assigned To field. When I update the field like this: listItem[SPBuiltInFieldId.AssignedTo] = SPContext.Current.Web.CurrentUser.ID; ListItem.Update(); The task is updated (the assigned to has filled in). But no notification has been send to the person in the assigned to. But when I change the assigned to manualy to another person, and then again to the person it was before, the notification is send. So the email works and the notifications are activated, why is there no notification sent when I change the assigned to programmatically?

SSIS 2005 - Send Mail Task - signature appended to email is garbled - unicode problem?

Hi, I'm pretty new to SSIS so go easy on me. I have a Send Mail Task to notify if a file cannot be imported - the mailbody is created on the previous step by a VB.NET script task to include the name of the file and the path it's been archived to. The problem I'm having is that while the body of the email I've created is displaying fine, our company's Exchange server appends a signature to all emails, and this is coming up as undisplayable characters, presumably due to some kind of unicode encoding problem. I've tried casting the email body in an expression to DT_STR (doesn't work as DT_STR "cannot be converted to a supported type" which seems a bit odd but never mind), DT_WSTR (garbled signature), DT_TEXT/DT_NTEXT (strange error on this one - "Attempted to read or write protected memory") none of those ideas worked, and I'm a bit stumped now. Can anyone help? I'm using SSIS 2005 with SP3

putting carriage return/line feed in non-HTML email text

Using vb.net/asp.net 2005I am trying to create a string message for an email that I am sending out from my asp.net page like so: For Each dr In dtDataTable.Rows strMessage = strMessage & vbCrLf & vbCrLf & Environment.NewLine & dr.Item("UserName") & Environment.NewLine Next so I am looping through a datatable and getting each name from each row, that is working well but when I get the email it appears in my inbox with all the names mashed together, you see I am trying both vbcrlf and newline but looks like neither is workingdoes anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Workflow/Task Email Truncating Titles Containing Period "." Sign

We are using the built-in approval workflow which assigns tasks to approvers in a standard task list.  When the email's are sent for both task and approval notifications the title contained in the body is truncated when it contains a period sign.  For example, a file name of "1.2322.343 Test File" shows up just as "1" in the body and subject of the email.  See below. This used to work just fine in MOSS 2007 so I assume this is an issue with 2010.  Anny ideas? Email Body: Approval has started on 1. Participants are Due by 1/1/0001 12:00:00 AM Each person will receive a task to approve 1. The tasks will be assigned one at a time for participants shown above.

Sending Result Set as Email via Script task

Hello, I completely succeeded in creating a package that sends result set as Email. But the issue here is type of the connection I am using, right now using ADO.NET connection. But my lead wants to have OLDB connection in order to maintain uniformity across all packages. Requirement : querying a table having 3 fields, need to send this table content as an Email. Steps Following : Execute SQL task to store the Result set into a System.Object variable, here connection type using ADO.NET , but my lead wants it as OLDB. Script task: Using bellow code to load data from system.Object variable to a string variable Send mail Task : Using string variable ( which was populated in script task) as Message source in Send mail task . So everything working fine, getting proper email with bellow code in script task. But the issue is if I use OLDB connection type in Execute SQL task instead of ADO.NET Connection type, Script task is not working . Bellow script is throwing some error . Can anyone please provide script that works for OLDB connection type To load system.object variable to string variable Error Message in Script task ( if I use OLDB connection in Execute SQL task instead of Ado.NET) “Unable to cast COM object of type 'System.__ComObject' to class type 'System.Data.DataSet'. Instances of types that represent COM components cannot be cast to types that do not repr

How can I edit the link to the document in a Approval Task email?

With the 2010 out of the box Approval workflow, the emails and tasks work just great, however, when a user receives the email, the instructions look like this:

To complete this task:
2. Perform the specific activities required for this task.
3. Use the Open this task button to mark the task as completed. (If you cannot update this task, you might not have access to it.)

Currently, we are using a friendly url for our users, in order to access their SharePoint site.  The <LINKED DOCUMENT> when clicked on, gives them an error and doesn't take them to the actual document in the SharePoint site, because of the fact that we are using a different url name for the site.

If there any way I can edit this auto-generated email so that the links will always be to the friendly url of our SharePoint site with each document?

Thanks in advance!

EMail Link to task edit form

Email blast software or c# code to accomplish task

Looking for suggestions on email blast software or a way to write in c# something that we can query access database and send out individual emails using 3 seperate templates based on the users selection.

basically users have been signing up to receive an email later in the year.. there are 3 possible email templates that are designed and will be sent based on what the user selected. So when the time comes, we need to take and query the access database and send an email to the user with the template they picked.

I see alot of software packages, but cost more than what we can spend(no budget), so we need something simple and free that can be scheduled to send on certain day and time. Or if there are any tutorials on creating something to do this, doesnt need to be fancy,

How to generate an excel and send it as email attachment in SSIS 2005 Script Task Component?

I am using a "Script Task" component. I am trying with following three simple steps:

1) Obtain the excel content in HTML

Dim reportInHtml As String = GenerateHTMLReport()

2) Generate an excel with below code:

Dim message As MailMessage

message = New MailMessage(fromAddress, toAddress, subject, String.Empty)

Using memoryStream As MemoryStream = New MemoryStream()

Dim contentAsBytes As Byte() = Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(reportInHtml)
        memoryStream.Write(contentAsBytes, 0, contentAsBytes.Length)
        memoryStream.Seek(0, SeekOrigin.Begin)

Dim contentType As ContentType = New ContentType()
        contentType.MediaType = "application/ms-excel"
        contentType.Name = "Excel_Report.xls"

        Dim excelAttachment

Appending Email Bodies to Multi-line list items

Hello all again!

I am working on another project that I have come up empty handed and wondered if anyone out there has any other answers.  I just got my incomming email to work in WSS 3.0.

Now I was wondering if there was a way to get the body of an incoming email message to be copied to a "Notes" Field in a list item on a site?

Here is what I have.  I have created a document library called email-in.  I am going to use this to bounce the emails off of.  I will configure this to recieve email.  However, once an email message is sent to it I would like to take the body of the email message and copy it to a multi-line text field I have in another corresponding list.

The way I was going to be correlating the two is by the "case" number that we deal with i.e. 00123456.  This matches a hyperlink description field that I have on the list item that I want to append the body of the email to.

Therefore, I would like to have system operate like this:

Person creates and email with the subject field contents of 00123456.  Then the message is placed in the body of the email.  After this the email will be received by the system and the system will look at the subject and se

SharePoint 2010 Approval Workflow email is not showing link to Workflow Task list

I have created an out of box Approval workflow in SharePoint 2010. I am receiving email with below information

Task assigned by Chinna Malipedu on 10/7/2010.

Due by 1/1/0001

Approval started by Chinna Malipedu on 10/7/2010 11:43 AM
Comment: Approve

To complete this task:
1. Review SharePoint2010.
2. Perform the specific activities required for this task.
3. Use the Open this task button to mark the task as completed. (If you cannot update this task, you might not have access to it.)

But I need to go to Workflow Task List by clicking 3 item "Use the Open this Task" , this is not a link here

or I want like "Edit this task to mark the task as completed."  Edit this task should link to Task List

How to do this? do i missing any configuration?

I have successfully done the same  in MOSS 2007.                                                               Is there  any extra&n

over due task email reminder

This should be a very simple question. I am using the out-of-box "approval process" in my workflow in SPD 2010, and there is a  "When a Task Expires" section in "Change the behaviour of a single task", which will send the reminder email to user. My problem is that I don't know how to trigger this action. I mean I set the "Due Date for Task Process" and the duration per task to 1 day, but I still not recieve any email when it past the due date.
