I had planned to use the approval workflow as a substitute for having to collect signatures. However, I have an issue where a previously completed workflow (OOB Approval workflow) has somehow been deleted from a document. This has happened
to 3 different documents. The workflows ran and were completed (ending in approval) over a month ago. I previously had added in the column showing approval to my document list view, which is how I realized something was wrong. Early this week
when I went to that library, those previously showing "Approved" were now blank. I checked each document's associated workflows and all showed that there were no completed or in progress workflows. As far as I know, no one had accessed the
documents. The only unusual thing is that I did receive a couple of automatic emails from SharePoint stating that some tasks on that site had been deleted, but for "Modified" it shows "Unknown" and the modified time is after midnight
(see below). It seems like it may be related, but I'm not sure. Does anyone know what would cause this, how to prevent it, and whether the "lost" approvals can be retrieved?
