Connect to Outlook a Task list that has Tasks with Multiple users assigned

Posted By:      Posted Date: May 22, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#

Using MOSS 2007 SP2 and Outlook 2007 SP2

I go to a task list that has multiple users assigned to a task.

I setup the connect to outlook for this list, and in outlook I only see the tasks that have a single user assigned.

None of the multiple user assigned tasks are visable, is this how it is supposed to work?

"Connect to Outlook" and "Open Schedule" disabled in Ribbon on instance of Project Tasks list

Hi Everyone,
I am creating a custom list template for "Project Tasks", essentially I need a customized version of the OOB Project Tasks list. I've cloned the OOB feature over to my Visual Studio 2010 solution and I am able to successfully deploy my version as expected, with everything fully functional, gantt chart and everything, except one thing. When I provision an instance of the list using the OOB list template, I am able to see everything in the Ribbon enabled. However, when I provision an instance of my custom list template (clone), I see the "Connect to Outlook" button disabled, as well as the "Open Schedule" button disabled - which allows you to open the task list with Microsoft Project (I have all Office 2010 clients installed, including Microsoft Project).

I am guessing there must be some type of setting somewhere that associates the OOB list template to those Ribbon items that I see as disabled. The only thing different between my list template and the OOB list template is the Type ID. Could this be the problem?

Where should I be looking to troubleshoot this issue?

Connect "Project Tasks" List's Calendar View to Outlook

I would like to connect our department's "Project Tasks"-type list to an Outlook calendar (the same way I can do with a "Calendar"-type list).

In Sharepoint, I have a nice "Calendar View" (this is a Sharepoint View/Report using the "Calendar" format) of the "Project Tasks"-type List items showing which items were worked on in the past or are to be worked on in the future.  I would like to Connect this view to Outlook, but it appears this "Project Tasks"-type list does not have the "Connect to Outlook" option in the ACTIONS menu.

I have confirmed that the "Connect to Outlook" option is activated in our "Enable Client Integration" settings per thread ((http://www.eggheadcafe.com/community/aspnet/69/10091824/cannot-see-connect-to-outlook-in-the-actions.aspx).  In fact, if I create a strict "Calendar"-type list (instead of a "Project Tasks"-type list or "Issue Tracking"-type list), I do get the "Connect to Outlook" option in the ACTIONS menu.  I'd li

E-Mail Alerts for users on Task List

Is there any way to send e-mail alerts to a specific user wihtout assigning them the task or having them subscribe to the list.

It's a Task List on WSS 3 on Win2k3 Enterprise'

Is there a way to assign a "USER FRIENDLY" name to an "ASSIGNED TO" TASK List?

I'm starting to develop simple TASK lists, to assign tasks to a team.  Unfortunately, I'm finding that the ASSIGNED TO field wants to populate user names with a NETWORK-Style name (i.e.,  mycompany.com\jsmith  ), instead of a preferred user name (i.e., John Smith).  The descriptive user name DOES show up for a few users, but not most. I figure that there must be something buried in some user roles/permissions, at some level - but I am still having problems with navigating around the Sharepoint neighborhood to find the options that I want (if they exist). I'd very much appreciate assistance with something that could, I hope, be rather simple. Thanks,

Can multiple users connect simulateously to an offline cube created by SSAS 2008?

We have created an offline cube on a network drive from SSAS 2008 and users are able to successfully access this serially using the Excel 2003 cube add-in or Excel 2007, in concert with version 10 driver, but when a user is already connected, the second attempt to connect will get the message :

Connection to <filename> server, <dbname> database, <cubename> cube failed.  OLAP Server error: The following system error occurred:  The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. ., File system error: An error occurred while opening the '<filename>' local cube file.

This is regardless of whether users connect specifying read-only and we have found it impossible to connect to a cube if the file has the read-only attribute set.

Is there any way to solve this without users taking copies onto their workstations?

sharepoint 2010 task list to outlook 2007

I've connected to outlook a task list of sharepoint 2010.

Once connected I can see  only the activities assigned to one single user. All the activities assigned to multiple users are not reported

Does anyone know how to solve this bug?

Many thanks

Other users added to task list notification

Using SharePoint 2007, MOSS.

A user edits a task that is assigned to him, once the task is updated a new notification email goes out with other people, who aren't assigned to the task. This happens occasionally, not all the time, on several sites. Never the same way twice!

SharePoint Designer workflow task - problem with multiple users selector in InfoPath form

I have got an issue with InfoPath form generated for my SharePoint Designer workflow task. There is a multiple users selector that requests users from a task assignee. The problem is that only the first user entered got saved.

I am using SharePoint 2010 Standard Server (release). Steps to reproduce are the following:

Sharepoint2010:Upload multiple document and connect to outlook :owssupp.dll & stssync

My first question went un-answered but I solved in after some midnights, now this is my second question, I am beginning to think SharePoint2010 is fantastic but is lacking in real support.

I am using SharePoint2010 , accessing from internet on Windows7(64bit) and Office 2010(64bit) notebook, While trying to access iver internet, Multiple upload of documents and Connect to Outlook are greyed out even after placing the URL in the trusted sites. Afte rmuch digging up it points to OWSSUPP.DLL and STSSYNC, which are supposed to help in these function. In Office 2010 I can't find this DLL and IE8 (64bit) does not have the STSSYNC active X loaded in my managed-add-in nor did it prompt me to download this active x.

The big question here is can some one help be shed light on this, what's the point if all on OWSSUPP.DLL are talking on Office 2007 when Office 2010 is in the market.

Solution for assigning task to users in a list in a cycle process

I am having an issue developing the workflow for the following requirement.

I am having a list of which contains of 6 employees and a workflow which is running on another list. the process is to find a employee from this user list to attend a meeting on requested date which is taken from the request raised in the main list which actually triggers the main workflow.

I have to assign a approval task to employee who is next to the employee who approved the previous task created for the previous request in the list. if he rejects then i have to assign the task to next employee and keeping on collecting the data from user until the due date, if it reaches the last employee then it has the assign the task to first employee and if everyone completed the tasks by rejecting then i have to update list item in the main list. exactly assigning the tasks until someone approves. if approved then it will update a field in the main list and workflow stops.

if two requests have been raised simultaneously, do i get any workflow errors due to overlapping if we depend and use any custom status field for workflow to check and act according to it.

Assign sharepoint workflow task to multiple users/groups

I need to assign workflow task to multiple users or groups based on the user department in the active directory. I am trying to use the AssignedTo property of the SPWorkflowTaskProperty to achieve this but don't know how. I tried to put multiple user ids in the sting separated by ";", but this is not working.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

assign multiple tasks to multiple users

Is there a way to create task list (or similiar maybe issues tracking list), then assign the entire list of tasks to a single user?  So if I were to add a new user to the site, I could assign a this list of Tasks to the user (Im a thinking like a templated custom list) for them to complete? I am using WSS 3.0.

I only see this as a 1 to 1 now, one task for 1 user.  I have seen where I can assign more that 1 user to a task, but the task is shared by the users.  I need the tasks to be assigned to each users separately.

Connect to Outlook not working for an External List in 64-bit Office 2010

I've used Business Connectivity Services in SharePoint 2010 to create an External Content Type with Office Item Type 'Contact'. I then created an External List in a SharePoint site to display the items in the External Content Type (after granting permissions on the ECT). When I click 'Connect to Outlook', a VSTO is created and installed. It says, the install is succesful. However, I do not see the contacts in my External List in Outlook. This is a 64-bit version of Outlook 2010. When I click 'Connect to Outlook' again, I get an error: "Cannot install or update this external list on client machine because another update is already in progress".

From another client machine where I installed the 32-bit version of Office 2010, this functionality works great. It seems the VSTO SharePoint BCS creates when you click 'Connecto to Outlook' on an external list, is not compatible with 64-bit versions of Office. Just to make sure there were no other differences between my two machines, I went back to the 64-bit Office client, uninstalled all Office software, then installed the 32-bit version of Office 2010. I then did my test again, and everything worked just great.

So, my conclusion is: Connect ot Outlook does not work on a SharePoint 2010 External List when you are running 64-bit Office 2010.

SharePoint tasks list in Outlook, displaying all assignments

Has anyone else seen this!?

We are regularly seeing hundreds of Task updates occurring within SharePoint, where people are apparently updating tasks that have nothing to do with them.

The cause appears to be people apparently randomly, but I have my doubts on this, having SharePoint tasks lists appear synchronised in Outlook.

This is not really a bad thing until you realise that the tasks it shows are for everyone not just yourself, so peoples natural instinct is to delete the tacks that aren’t assigned to them. This triggers the update emails and a lot of confusion.

Is there setting somewhere in Outlook/Exchange/Sharepoint that controls the filter of the synchronised tasks lists?

Any pointers/clues gratefully received.

Unable to connect any list or calendar to Outlook in SP 2010

I am completely unable to use the Connect to Outlook option on any list inside my SharePoint Foundation installation - the button is present, but remains greyed out and non-functional.

I have confirmed the following:

- The server is using AD and is set up correctly

- SMTP is set up for outgoing mail

- All features available have been activated

- There are no restrictions for the creation of local pst files on my system

- I am running Outlook 2010, 64bit

- The user being used is in an owners group for the site collection and the site, but I've also added direct permissions for the user for all possible permission sets

- I am able to use the Excel services, Visio and Project connections, but not Outlook

- I am using a standard, unaltered task list and calendar, neither of which will permit connection

- I am using IE8

Since the button is greyed out, I'm not even able to get an error message that might tell me something additional.

I've been searching for a while, to no avail - what am I missing?

Assign task to multiple users after workflow approval

What I'm looking to do is after a document has been approved through a workflow, I want a task to be automaticly sent to multiple users to ensure that everyone has reviewed the document. It needs to be a single task that is not completed until each person has signed it off. Is there an easy way to do this or is it going to involve some extra programming? I am a very novice user when it comes to sharepoint so any advice is apperciated.

Thanks in advance!

Show Sharepoint list tasks within the overarching To-do list in Outlook 2007

Is it possible to show Sharepoint list items in the overarching To-do list in Outlook 2007? (the one showing all tasks independent on which list it is in) I have no filters applied and can yet not see them.

Is this pending on some setting in Outlook?

Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated!
