Publishing subsite inside Team site

Posted By:      Posted Date: May 22, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#

Hi All,

I have a publishing site as root site and I have 4 subsites under it with Team site template.

I would like to create a new subsite in one of the team site template subsites.

When I create a publishing site, the site was created with the publishing feature on but looks like it still retained the team site layout (with the left side quick launch navigation). Is it possible to create a actual publishing site under team site in this scenario?

Thanks in advance!

Publishing Portal Missing Team Site Template

Hi,

I created a new site collection and set the root site as a publishing portal.  I then went into "manage site features" under "Site Actions" and activated the "Team Collaboration Lists" feature.  However I cannot find the "Team Site" template when I try to create a new site.  Is there a feature I'm missing?

Activating Publishing Feature for Team Site Template in SharePoint 2010

A new site collection has been created and uses SharePoint 2010 team site template. How can you activate the publishing feature on it?

I have activated the publishing feature at site collection and site level but I still can edit pages etc without requiring check out and approval/publishing. There are probably settings I need to activate on other doc libraries but I wanted to know the best practice for this scenario and how to configure it.

Thanks.

Publishing SharePoint Site

I have published a sharepoint website that I created but I now have the following problem:

  • from the internal network, everything works fine..
  • from the external network (via web):

  1. the People Picker web part does not work (error in WebForm_DoCallBack)
  2. The "assigned to" field is empty, but when I see the source code, the users are there. They are just not displayed.
Can anyone help me. Thanks in advance..

Hi All, We are planning to use moss 2007 for our intranet. Mainly we want to use it for collaboration purpose (i think collaboration portal is the appropriate template as root site). but in future if the company want publishing portal can i have it under collaboration portal or should i choose now itself the root site as publishing portal  and then create collaboration portal as sub site to meet our needs. can some one shed light on how to proceed and pros/ cons . Cheers, Friend.

SharePoint 2010 Publishing Site : Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object.

I think as usual, the new version of SharePoint 2010 has a lot of problems. the below messege appear in a publushing site (FBA) enabled and when I try to access the pages list or even approve a page of accessing the SiteCollectionImages list and ......... etc every link produce the below error. Publishing site template saved using /_layouts/savetmpl.aspx

A trick we used in MOSS 2007 doesn't seem to work in SharePoint 2010 although it seemed to work for someone who asked the same question in this forum.  We know publishing site do not have the "Save as site template" as an option in the site settings so we used <site>/_layouts/savetmpl.aspx to save the site template.  Unfortunately, new site created using the saved template is throwing a 404 error.  And the site was actually created (can see in View All Site Content).  We need to be able to easily create sub-sites with the same look and feel and set of document libraries/lists.  Any advice?

How to add List item in search results for anonymous in a publishing site?

Hi all,   For now, results in Library (document set or not) are shown and the link is the binary file. This is ok. But for list, anonymous users can't view results. As logged in I see the items in the AllItems.aspx page. How could I allow this result to be viewed by anonymous users too?      Thank you,   Benoit Pironet

New Document Library in a subsite is inheriting permissions from wrong site

I have a site collection (using the out-of-the-box Business Intelligence site template) called "BI Home". A couple weeks ago I created a bunch of subsites (Finance, Regulatory, Marketing, etc.) all using the BI site template, and then created a Document Library called "Reports" in each one of those subsites. Those are all working as expected. Yesterday I needed to create a new subsite (again, a BI site just off the root site collection) called "Operations". I created the subsite, and then created the "Reports" document library underneath it.  When I went to modify the permissions of the new document library (located here: /Operations/Reports), it said it was inheriting permissions from it's parent: "BI Home".  Why would this be?  Shouldn't the parent be "Operations" ?? All my other sites' "Reports" folders are inheriting permission from their respective parent, but any new sites I create seem to have this issue. Thanks in advance for any insight someone may provide! [SharePoint 2010 RTM on Win2k8R2 using SQL 2008R2 RTM on Win2k8R2]

Hello, I am looking to make a publishing site the web site for the company. When I go to www.contoso.com it will take me to the normal Moss 07 portal and not the publishing site. Where is the setting for me to make the publishing site as the default web site? -IRXFIRE

Cannot access parent site list from subsite in XSLt List View webpart in sharepoint designer 2010

Hi    We are using sharepoint 2010  for internet facing sites for our big client in healthcare domain .  I am using XSLT list view webpart in sharepoint designer 2010 for retrieving contents from sharepoint list & displaying it by using XSLT List view webpart in publishing sites. We are having lot of list in rootsite collection, If i am creating pages by using XSLt list view webpart in root site collection I can access the list,View and Display in Pages by XSLT List view webpart. Now the requirement is i have to access the list in roosite collection(parent site) from subsites.  In Sharepoint designer 2010, while i am inserting XSLT list view webpart, i could not find datasource to access the list that exist in rootsite collection(Parent site) from subsite. Below is the the code i am using for accessing the list& view from parent site & creating the pages in parent site by using xslt list view webpart, now i wants to access parent site list from subsite by using XSLT list view webpat in subsite pages.  Pls let me know what i have to change in the code level <WebPartPages:XsltListViewWebPart runat="server" Description="The list for the conditions details" ListDisplayName="" PartOrder="2" Default="FALSE" HelpLink="" AllowRemove="True" IsVisible="True" All

Adding a custom control to the SharePoint 2010 Team Site Wiki Page Template ( wkpstd.aspx ) programm

Topic This is maybe my last post about the Team Site Wiki Page customization with the aim of exceeding its limitations. This time we are going to customize the unique template ( wkpstd.aspx) by replacing the control that renders the editable content by a custom one. In this post example, we will take advantage of the use of this custom control to render not editable additional contents, for instance, a header and a footer that could be the same for a specific Wiki Page Library. Of course, we are not going to really customize the template, but we are going to use a delegate control to replace the control at runtime. Here are the screen shots of the result: We can see a non editable Header and Footer on the Team Site Wiki Page In edit mode these additional contents are not rendered, but we can add new content as usual And of course, after having saved the page, the new content is rendered wtih the non editable Header and Footer. Steps required   If you look at the Team Site Wiki Page template, wkpstd.aspx, you can see the control that is rendering the editable content/ <SharePoint:EmbeddedFormField ID="WikiField" FieldName="WikiField" ControlMode="Display" runat="server" /> We are first going to create a custom EmbeddedFormField control Then, we are going to use a delegate control to replace the native EmbeddedFor

Create site template and adding subsite using site template is broken in sharepoint 2010

I am trying to create a site template base on an existing site and try to use the new site template to generate other sub-sites.  It sounds simple and the code is not that difficult to follow; however, Microsoft has made it impossible to accomplish by having a bug in their template creation process.   //Generate web template from existing website using (SPSite site = new SPSite("http://localhost")) { SPWeb web = site.OpenWeb("/barrington/accounting"); web.SaveAsTemplate("NewDepartmentTemplate", "NewDepartmentTemplate", "NewDepartmentTemplate", true); }   //Generate sub site using the new template using (SPSite site = new SPSite("http://localhost")) { SPWeb web = site.OpenWeb("/barrington/accounting"); SPWebTemplate tp = null; foreach (SPWebTemplate wt in web.GetAvailableWebTemplates((uint)1033)) { if (wt.Title == "NewDepartmentTemplate") { tp = wt; break; } } if (tp != null) { SPWeb newWeb = web.Webs.Add("NewDepartment", "NewDepartment", "NewDepartment", (uint)1033, tp, false, false); } } Error: Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException was unhandled   Message=The content type name '$Resources:_FeatureId367b94a9-4a15-42ba-b4a2-32420363e018,DataSourceContentTypeName;' cannot contain: \  / : * ? Calendar overlay only works on list calendar in team site?

Currently, I have a site collection with a top-level site and 7 sub-sites (all on an equal level just below the top-level site). I have created a calendar at each site.  On the top-level site, I've used calendar overlay to add the 7 sub-site calendars to its calendar.  It works just great! But if I try and edit the main page of the top-level site to add that calendar as a list item on the page, or as a web part (rather than having the user have to click on the Calendar under the Lists in the Navigation) - the overlay doesn't show up on the calendar. Why won't it work when I edit the home page and try and add it a web part or as an "existing list"? I get no errors regarding this - it just doesn't work!  Frustrating!!! Thanks in advance!
