causing 500 server error :(

So, I'm just learning ASP.NET with C#, but this code just makes the page display a "500 - server error page"

the webpage is here: hereswhereyourewrong.net/aspnettest.aspx

the code is as follows:

<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" %>
<!-- This program throws up an Error 500: Server Error -->
<!-- I'm not sure why, it compiles just fine. -->
<!-- The last time it was because I had asp:TextBox fields not in a form -->

Critical Error with User Profile synchronization timer job

Hello! We are currently running SharePoint 2010 on Windows 2008 R2 servers. Our User Profile Service and User Profile Sync Service are currently running, and profile imports work fine when kicked off from Central Admin. However, the profile sync timer job always fails with the following Application Event error: Event 6398, SharePoint Foundation The Execute method of job definition Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.UserProfileImportJob (ID 340e8ca2-6f3b-4bd8-80f2-0fe011709805) threw an exception. More information is included below. Generic failure Looking at the ManageUserProfileServiceApplication.aspx log, indeed the only imports visible are ones which have been kicked off manually in Central Admin. The failed scheduled imports are not even recorded to this log. Timer job intiation error: SharePoint cannot deserialize an object of type

Hi All, when i run a timer job (One-Time timer) it has added it to Timer Job definitions in the Central Administration. I have checked the Log file in 12 hive and found the following error..... "SharePoint cannot deserialize an object of type xyz.xyzJob, xyzTimer, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=<token> on this machine. This typically occurs because the assembly containing this type is not installed on this machine. In this case, this message can be safely ignored. Otherwise, the assembly needs to be installed on this machine in a location that can be discovered by the .NET Framework." The above error says that the assembly is not added.... but it has been already added to the GAC. Can anyone guide me about the issue and how to resolve that........?

Error 14258: Cannot perform this operation while SQLServerAgent is starting. Try again later.

I'm getting the following error on two of my SQL Servers - Error 14258: Cannot perform this operation while SQLServerAgent is starting. Try again later. The only solution that I have seen is the same solution that Microsoft has published in the following article - KB303287 [http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=http%3a%2f%2fwww.support.microsoft.com%2fkb%2f303287%2fen-us%2f] The solution is to unflag the use of NT Fibers.  However, our software application provider is advising us against doing this.  Is there another fix anywhere that I could get my hands on - another solution? Thanks in advance.

activeX error when starting a workflow from inside Microsoft Word

I have a Word 2007 document hosted on a local intranet SharePoint 2007 Server.
When i open the document inside Word 2007 and start a Collect Signature workflow (the word document has some signature lines included), the following ActiveX error si thrown:

Microsoft Office InfoPath
One or more ActiveX controls could not be displayed because either:

1) Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page, or
2) You have blocked a publisher of one of the controls.

As a result, the page might not display correctly.

I managed to find out that the error is generated because of the security level regarding ActiveX controls set on the INTERNET zone.
In the internet zone, all ActiveX controls are restricted to run, but in the LOCAL INTRANET zone are allowed.
Our company security policy does not permit changing the ActiveX settings in INTERNET zone.

If i navigate to the sharepoint site in Internet Explorer, the site is seen correctly in the LOCAL INTRANET zone

Can somebody give me a solution to be able to start the workflow process, without modifing security settings on the internet zone and without upgrading to O

System.Media - SoundPlayer PlayLooping() - Error When Another Timer Is Running

Recently I had a problem using SoundPlayer PlayLooping method.

Below is my problem and the solution I have found.

Hope this will help anybody with similar issues.

The issue is that as this is essentially a timer, if anther timer is operating at the same time the other timer will somehow interfere and the sound player will loose its file and playback computer noise.  A way around this seems to be to construct a manual timer for looping back the sound.

timer_LoopRinging.Enabled = true;

private void timer_LoopRinging_Tick(object sender, EventArgs e)

Error Starting Script Editor in SSIS

I am having a problem in the Business Intelligence Development Studio. When I add and try to edit a Script Task or a Script Component, I click on the Design Script button and get one of two errors. For the Script task I get an error that states:

Cannot show the editor for this task. (Microsoft Visual Studio)

For the Script component I get:

Cannot show Visual Studio for Applications editor. (Microsoft Visual Studio)

For some reason or another it just will not start Visual Studio for Applications. I have uninstalled an re-installed several times. I have also researched and discovered that there is a bug when C# tasks are include in the project. However, this is not the case. Please help!

FIMSynchronizationService starting error: Missing object from Sync DB?

Hi everyone,

I've been trying to solve some issues I've been having with the user profile service. I had it running great without problems. However I had to change a setting, then everything just stopped working and never came back alive. I wound up deleting the service profile then recreating it however now I'm just getting a whole different error. I tried searching the internet but couldn't find any solutions. Anyway here is the error I receive in the application log:

JScript runtime error 12030 from ajax timer when authorization expires...

I have an ASP.NET form with several update panels.  All works great.

I use a timer and have it handle some periodic upates.  That works correctly too.  However, I appear to get an error when I leave the page open running in the debugger.  Specifically the above JScript error 12030.

I'm not clear how to find the source but I assume it is because my page has logged out.  If I refresh I go back to my login page.

So, does this sound like the cause?  If so, how to I address this?

Search Service Error 3 on starting

I am very new to Sharepoint but will do my best to help clarify and provide details you may need. We have a 3 server farm with 2 dedicated web front ends. We're running SharePoint 2007 sp2 on Server 2003 Enterprise. No Proxy Server is in use for our search. Our search began having problems a few months ago after a domain wide password change. The indexer stopped working and search would go offline intermittently.

Not sure if this is related but we were also seeing a lot of 7078 errors in our Event Log with the description: "Job 'Distribution List Import Job' failed. It will be re-tried again in 120 second(s).  Reason: Failed to obtain crawl status."

We are able to start the Office SharePoint Server Search Service in the Services.mmc but it will not start in Central Administration. When I click on Start I get an error message each time reading:

error on attempting to start
An unhandled exception occurred in the user interface.Exception Information: Method failed with unexpected error code 3.

When I go to the 'Manage Search Service' panel in 'Application Management' there is the following info:

Under Query and Index Server it reads: "The Microsoft Search Server Service is not enabled on any server in this farm"
