Steps to install .Net Framework 3.5 on existing SharePoint farm?

Posted By:      Posted Date: May 22, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#

We're looking to upgrade the .NET Framework from 3.0 to 3.5 on an existing MOSS 2007 SP2 64-bit farm running Win Server 2008.  Is this just a simple matter of running the setup file available at:  http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?familyid=333325fd-ae52-4e35-b531-508d977d32a6&displaylang=en or is there any additional steps that need to be taken?

Does it matter the order used for installing to various servers in the farm (app first, db first, etc.)?  I've found forum postings for people who have run into issues, but didn't see material on recommended installation procedure.

Install SharePoint 2010 in a farm environment

Recently for one of my project, I had a requirement to install SharePoint on a farm environment. I had a walkthrough with technet site and completed the installation. I thought share my scenario so that somebody with similar requirement may find this useful.

First of all, I had 2 servers for the implementation. So I have decided to dedicate one server for database and another for Sharepoint installation.

The server names are SP2010_DB (for database) and SPPortal (for sharepoint). Both are joined to the domain. For the sake of this article, I am mentioning the domain as SP2010FARM.

I have used the following user accounts for the installation.

How to add SSRS Integration to an existing SharePoint 2010 farm

Note to Administrator: this post is regarding SharePoint 2010, but I was unable to select 2010 for the forum when creating the thread.  Please feel free to move it to the appropriate forum.

pre-2010 Moderator Note: I don't understand why not. Please in a later post add a paragraph with how you created the thread.

I've found some instructions on TechNet for configuring SSRS Integration with SharePoint 2010, however they all assume you are starting from scratch.  I have a production two-server farm up and running: a web front end and a database server (SQL 2008 R2).  Reporting Services is enabled and the SP-Integrated database created on the SQL server.

I tried installing the WFE bits on the SQL server and adding the server to the farm, but I encountered errrors trying to add it to the farm.  Does anyone have instructions for adding SSRS Integration to a production farm?

XML Schemas: Take Advantage of Existing External XML Schemas with a Custom Import Framework in ASP.N

Over the years, many industry-standard XML schemas and dialects have been developed. These industry-specific schemas embrace the original purpose of XML and are extremely valuable in promoting and supporting B2B interaction. Unfortunately, the ASP.NET Web Services runtime does not allow developers to directly reference external schemas from within their XML Web Services interface (the WSDL file). This article builds an external schema framework as an extension to the ASP.NET Web Services runtime to enable you to reference external schemas within your XML Web Service interface.

Sharepoint farm lost a server... How to proceed?

Had a Sharepoint farm I inherited that was running on ____ hardware in a ____ setup- raid controller failed, and the rack was setup so that I have to down 15 servers that might not come back up, just to get at the server... Complete, unrecoverable failure. This server was a member of our Sharepoint 2007 farm, and had Reporting Services on it. There are a lot of little pieces that are still referenced in the Central Configuration. I removed the server forcibly, and need to know next steps, specifically:

1. I tried to move Reporting Services to another server, but I get an error in the Grant Database privileges that I cannot connect to the Report Server's WMI Provider. I created a SPN on a DC, forced a replication a few hours ago, and still no luck. Any Advice?

2. How do I fix all the little things that reference that server? Anytime Sharepoint initiates a web page to Central Administration, it tries to use that server address.

I think the failed server was running SQL 2008 or SQL 2008 R2, and the server I am moving this to is SQL 2005 SP2. I have installed the correct Reporting Services for Sharepoint. Have I missed something?

Time is of the essence because management relies on Reporting Services and I am under a great deal of pressure to fix this. I appreciate any help I can get.

Can I create several steps to be run on a SharePoint list as a task to run on a daily basis?

We have a manual process that we do on a SharePoint list to export data from SharePoint to a spreadsheet that can then be used by non SharePoint programs.  I'd like to be able to automate this process so that it can be scheduled as a Task to run on a daily basis.   Not sure if a workflow can do what I'd like it to.  I have SharePoint Designer 2007 as well.

Here are the steps:

1. Load a particular View of a SharePoint List

2. From the view's Action menu, "Open with Access"

3. Save the resulting Access database as a file to a specific Folder on the computer hosting SharePoint

This would be run as a Task on the computer hosting SharePoint.

Updating Config Files in Sharepoint Farm

I am trying to update config files web.comnfig in the Virtual Directory of my server so that users are allowed to upload more that 50 MB of files in my IIS 7 server. Everytime i do the update it works fine but after few days when there are few changes then it removes the added elements itself and restore in the Original Stage. I used to edit my config files manually. I found a way of creating a config files and saving it to the Config Directory under 12 Hive in Server.
