Setting text decoration to underline for URLs in Lists

Posted By:      Posted Date: May 22, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#
I have various lists that include fields with URLs/links. I find that when these lists load on page you see the underline if you hover over the link, but not until then. I have tried to locate the css style to set the standard view of links to underline but have not been successful. Can you point me in the right direction? Is it page/list specific? Or, would the change be reflected throughout the site. I would prefer to set this per list and/or page (I often insert Lists into basic pages for a cleaner view for our users). Thanks!

Cleanest way of setting max string length for text in GridView cells?

I want to make sure that each row in the table is the height of one line of text only.  I know you can set RowStyle-Wrap="false", but I also don't want any really wide rows.  I know I can go through each cell on RowDataBound or something and cut it to a particular length and then append an ellipsis on the end, but is there a neater way of doing the same thing?

How Do I Not Include: myControl.GetType.GetProperty("Text") When No Property Window Setting?

Hi All, Posted below is code I'm using to generate a list of controls that have either a "Text" or "Caption" property. However, for certain controls in the resulting list, the property setting (Text/Caption) does not appear in the "Property Window" of the IDE when that control is selected. One example of this is the Systems.Windows.Forms.PictureBox control. Is there a way I can determine this and if so - how do I exclude these control(s) from my list?     Private Sub cmdValidateControls_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles cmdValidateControls.Click         txtResults.Clear()         For Each ctrl As Object In Me.Controls             LogControl(ctrl)         Next     End Sub     Private Sub LogControl(ByVal ctrlIn As Object)         If System.Diagnostics.Debugger.IsAttached Then             If (Not ctrlIn.GetType.GetProperty("Text") Is Nothing) Or (Not ctrlIn.GetType.GetProperty("Caption") Is Nothing) Then                 txtRes

Duplicate URLs in Source Parameter of Query String for All SharePoint Lists

After performing a database attach method of upgrading our existing web application from MOSS 2007 to SharePoint Server 2010, all of our lists that migrated now exhibit an interesting but undesirable behavior.  The DispForm.aspx and EditForm.aspx pages that get loaded are given the Source parameter of the query string but instead of the URL being a single entry like: Source=http://sharepointsite.domain.com/Pages/Default.aspx It winds up putting the URL twice like this: Source=http://sharepointsite.domain.com/Pages/Default.aspx,http://sharepointsite.domain.com/Pages/Default.aspx Naturally this makes processing of the form -- either by choosing OK or Cancel buttons -- result in an HTTP 404 error.  The question we're left with is how in the world did the Source parameter get set that way to begin with.   It wasn't that way in 2007. We had thought that perhaps there was something that didn't migrate over correctly for the existing lists, so I tried creating a new list and then added a new item to the list.  So far so good.  Then attempted to Edit Properties or Edit Item or even View Item, etc. -- essentially triggering the load of the EditForm.aspx and DispForm.aspx  -- and we received the 404 again.  At this point we're not sure what's going on or how to fix it.  We've performed the migration three times so far with t

SSRS 2008 Help Setting Up Multiple URLs

I have a new SSRS 2008 installation that currently only has the default URL setup (http://computername:80/Reports).  I am trying to setup a second URL to be accessed by the intranet.  I want it to be a more generic name such as http://finance.  I have tried adding a second host name but when I do that it just says the page is not available.  What do I need to do in order to get this setup?  Do I need a registered domain name?  I have no clue where to start.

What lists and what column types allow for setting "column default value settings"

There is a new setting for lists in 2010 called "Column default value settings". What lists does this setting apply to (I think just lists with a base template of Document Library)? And for what column types is it available? It was available on a "Single line of text" column but not a lookup column. Thanks in advance!

SSRS BUG? When a FontStyle expression is used in a report, the Browser Text Size setting overrides t

I have created a report that has the same font size for all the sections in the report. Some sections' fields use a FontStyle expression that changes the FontStyle between Normal and Italics conditionally. I run the report through the reportserver interface and the report looks fine. I run the report through the ReportViewer control and the the fields which use the FontStyle formula are overridden by the Browser's Page Text Size. Also, when I look at the inline HTML Style that's generated, the fields with the formula don't have a style, they are blank, while the fields with without a FontStyle expression have an inline HTML Style generated. And this is probably why the browser text size setting can override. This seems like a ReportViewer HTML render bug... Or is there a way around it??

Setting the size of the tab indent for a rich text box

I have a form with a rich text box on it. I have the "AcceptsTab" property set to true. What I would like to do now is set the size of the indent that is made when you press the tab key.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Setting SharePoint site URLs

I'm just getting started with SharePoint Foundation 2010 (and ASP.NET as well).  When I go my newly created site at http://machine, the URL is automatically redirected to http://machine/SitePages/Home.aspx.  Could someone explain how this happens?  I don't see a corresponding SitePages\Home.aspx physical path, IIS virtual directories or settings, etc.

How would one change such a URL?  Apparently it's supposed to be under Central Administration->Site Setttings->Look and Feel, but it's playing Waldo on my system.

Thanks for any help.

How to connect text file data to native SharePoint lists with auto update?

I have to pull external data from a text file to a SharePoint list on a daily base. Additional column content (e.g. attachments) in SharePoint should be kept during update. There should be RSS feeds, email notifications or workflows on external data change (so delete all items and import new will not work).

I've found this codeless 3rd party solution with automatic background update (and write-back???):

Any other idea? BDC-based? Thanks.

Setting default parameters in dataset-populated pick lists

Visual Studio 2008 with R2 added. At this point I'm only using Preview (undeployed reports).

While I can easily set a parameter when the user has to supply a value for the report parameter, it is not at all clear how to set the defaults (and expect them to work) when setting the Available Values to be populated from a DataSet--with or without multiple values. I have seen the suggestion to use the pick-list dataset as a way to populate the default values list but this does not work.

I understand how to create a query that can accept "all" as an alternative input parameter to return all rows from the product, but shouldn't we be able to selectively choose from the list of valid parameter values by adding them as values in the list of defaults?

Setting "Reduce storage requirements for text properties by using a hash for comparison." using powe

Hey all,

I have a need to enable 'Reduce storage requirements for text properties by using a hash for comparison.' for a crawled property, i'd like to do this in my 'set search scopes' powershell script, where I define everything the crawler should be doing but I can't find the appropriate powershell command to do so, can anyone help?

At the moment I simply have one line setting up the property:

"Launch forms in a dialog" setting is ignored for custom lists deployed with a feature

Hi folks!

I have a custom list (schema.xml) deployed with a feature. The list has custom new, edit and view forms defined in the schema.xml.

Every time i create, edit or view an item the form is displayed in a modal dialog. I tried to set tha "Launch forms in a dialog" to "No" in the Advanced Settings of the list, I also tried to set this property programmatically (SPList.NavigateForFormsPages), and I also tried to set it directly in the schema.xml.

With no success. My forms are still launched in dialogs! For other lists I create in the SP GUI this settings works as expected. Does anybody encounter the same problem and know a workarround??

Display ALL saved text data of lists from isolated storage

How do I display ALL of my saved items of different list from the isolated storage?

Eg. I created a list named "Breakfast" with 2 Bandung and 3 Water inside.

Created another list named "Lunch" with 5 Bandung and 2 Hot-tea inside.

When I click to view "Lunch" list, it will display out the list with "5 Bandung and 2 Hot-tea".

However, I can only manage to display "Hot-tea" without the quantity, and unable to display 5 Bandung as well.

How do I go about displaying all of the items inside the selected list?

Thank you!

private void addListBtn_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e)
    using (IsolatedStorageFile storage = IsolatedStorageFile.GetUserStoreForApplication())
      StreamWriter writeFile = new StreamWriter(new IsolatedStorageFileStream("ListFolder\\savedList.txt", FileMode.OpenOrCreate, storage));
      for (int i = 0; i < (Application.Current as App).userDrinksList.Count; i++)
        String drink = (Application.Current as App).userDrinksList[i].ToString();

        XDocument _doc = new XDocument();

Displaying SharePoint lists in Web Parts

When you create a built-in or custom list in Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services, Windows SharePoint Services creates a Web Part, a basic building block of a SharePoint site, to display that list. These Web Parts are called List View Web Parts. Windows SharePoint Services stores List View Web Parts in the site collection Web Part gallery. (The site collection Web Part gallery is the most central gallery of Web Parts for a work group. By default, the gallery name is the name of the site, such as "Our Team Site Web Part Gallery." )

SharePoint Tutorial - Lists

A list is a feature in SharePoint that stores a lists of information. For example, a list can be created to store web links in the human resources team site. A list is usually created for a specific type of information. Lists can contain metadata to describe the particular information in more detail and to make it easier to find.

AutoCompleteStringCollection for text box in DataGridView 2.0

I have been searching for a way to have autocomplete in a DataGridTextBox
object. There does not appear to be an obvious way to do this like you would
for a TextBox outside of a grid using the AutoCompleteCustomSource. Any
thoughts on how I can add this collection? :)
