ssrs integration with sharepoint

Posted By:      Posted Date: May 22, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#

Hi,

I have a three server sharepoint farm. The first is a  application server(WFE) on which i have installed sharepoint 2007 . The second server i have the sharepoint  database and the third server is the reporting server. The third server does not have sharepoint installed on it.

To intergate sharepoint with ssrs do i need to install reporting services on the application server.

If i install sharepoint 2007 (WFE) on the reporting server. How do i load balance the WFE.

Steps I followed.

1) Installed the sharepoint add in on the application server .

2)Installed the  Reporting services on the reporting server.

3) Application Management> Reporting Service > Grant Database  Access  Page . i added the  name of the server to the Server instance and i an error

Unable to connect to the Report Server WMI provider.

Parameter value filter based on user in SSRS (SharePoint Integration mode)

Hello..we have a reuirement where we have to filter the parameter value in the drop down based on the user who is accessing the report. We have form and Windows authenication enabled in the SharePoint site (some users will be from inside the network using windows and some will be accessing the site using internet using the Form Authentication).

Please let me know what would be the best way to handle this reuirement? Do we need to create a separate table  and store the User Information along with the parameter values they have access to, pass the userid from Report to db and then fileter the records using this table? OR Can we create a SharePoint List to maintain the user access information and then directly fetch the user information from the list using T-SQL to filter the records?

Please let me know your suggestion...

SSRS SP1 and Sharepoint 2007 build 6529 Integration

Scenario is single server (VM for dev)

Windows Server 2008 SP2 x86
Sharepoint 2007 build 6529
SQL Server 2008 w/SP1 integrated, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS

Kerberos configured for all Sharepoint services and working, SPNs set on machine account for kernel mode auth

SSRS configured to use service acct

get an error occurred during client rendering.  I also cannot get to the SSRS web service url .../ReportServer

Now i switch the account to networkservice, which contains the spn in AD as a sideeffect, i get the .../ReportServer page, but still the same error in MOSS.  Am i missing something?  I have read articles that state that using NetworkService on a single server with MOSS and SSRS is not supported as that account is explicitly denied access, which ironically both services could use the SPN, but how would i configure SSRS's service account?  also, i see the subsite in MOSS .../ReportServer in both scenarios, however because it's MOSS i am unsure if this is the correct behavior as everything i have seen suggests that a new IIS site needs to be created for SSRS.  If this is the case, where is the integration point in MOSS?

Sharepoint 2010 Integration with SSRS

When you install SSRS as sharepoint 2010 integrated are then able to create reports using data (lists) from sharepoint?   Currently I use access/excel to make more advanced SSRS type reports with logic.   I know you can do it directly on Sharepoint with VS, but I just need quick and dirty ways to do it that I can teach to others quickly.

Thanks!

How to add SSRS Integration to an existing SharePoint 2010 farm

Note to Administrator: this post is regarding SharePoint 2010, but I was unable to select 2010 for the forum when creating the thread.  Please feel free to move it to the appropriate forum.

pre-2010 Moderator Note: I don't understand why not. Please in a later post add a paragraph with how you created the thread.

I've found some instructions on TechNet for configuring SSRS Integration with SharePoint 2010, however they all assume you are starting from scratch.  I have a production two-server farm up and running: a web front end and a database server (SQL 2008 R2).  Reporting Services is enabled and the SP-Integrated database created on the SQL server.

I tried installing the WFE bits on the SQL server and adding the server to the farm, but I encountered errrors trying to add it to the farm.  Does anyone have instructions for adding SSRS Integration to a production farm?

SSRS 2008 R2 running in SharePoint 2010 Integration mode - Not able to schedule reports.

Hi,

I am unable to schedule report am getting following error when trying to schedule an SSRS report from ReportViewer Webpart in SharePoint 2010.

  • The current action cannot be completed. The user data source credentials do not meet the requirements to run this report. Either the user data source credentials are not stored in the report server database, or the user data source is configured not to require credentials but the unattended execution account is not specified. (rsInvalidDataSourceCredentialSetting)

I have SSRS 2008 R2 running in SharePoint 2010 Integration mode on Win 2008 R2 System.

I have also setup the unattended execution account from the Reporting Services Configuration Manager, which has appropriate privilates on the database to generate report.

Also, I have reporting webservice setup @ following url (am using the named instance of SQL Server):

http://<Servername>/ReportServer_SQLSERVER97170

Am able to view the report from report viewer webpart but unable to schedule it.

Kindly let me know what's going wrong.

Thanks in Advance,

Sachin R. Chavan.

SSRS 2008 R2 and sharepoint 2007 report builder problems

I upgraded our enterprise sql server 2008 to sql server 2008 r2 last weekend.  Along with this i installed the report builder 3.0 on the servers as well and the updated ssrs add in for sharepoint.  The upgrade went fine, no errors that i could find.  The problem is now when i go to a library that has the report builder content type enabled and click report builder report under new it does not load report builder 3.0.

I updated the custom report builder url in central administration from /_vti_bin/ReportBuilder/ReportBuilder_2_0_0_0.application to /_vti_bin/ReportBuilder/ReportBuilder_3_0_0_0.application

however when i do click the new report builder report it kicks me over to http://company.com/ReportServer_MossEnt  which itemizes out each individual sharepoint site in the farm.

Is the integration of ssrs 2008 r2, sharepoint 2007 and report builder 3.0 work?  did i install the wrong version of the report builder add in?  The above is the only problem i am having now.

all servers are server 2008, 64 bit and moss 2007 enterprise with sp2 & april 2010 cu

Reporting Services in SharePoint integration - configurtion errors in 64bit version

Hi,

We have build an MOSS 2007 environment on 64 bit servers. We build the reporting services server and configured in SharePoint integration mode. Initially configuration looks fine with reporting services integration with green indicators.

Reporting Services and Sharepoint Integration - Sharepoint Alternate Access Mappings (Zones)

I get the following error when I try to navigate to a report/model/data source, stored in a Sharepoint Document Library using a Sharepoint URL based on an Extranet or Intranet zone - but it works OK using the url for the Default zone: System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: The specified path refers to a SharePoint zone that is not supported. The default zone path must be used. ---> Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.SecurityZoneNotSupportedException: The specified path refers to a SharePoint zone that is not supported. The default zone path must be used. Is this a limitation of the SQLRS-WSS3 integration or is there a workaround? Many thanks to anyone who can help!

Problem Integration SQL Reporting Service 2005 and SharePoint 2007

Hello, I'm trying to make our SQL Reports available on our SharePoint report center. I have SQL 2005 (sp3) report server that resides on a different server than our SharePoint 2007 server. So in our SRS Configuration Tool, we changed the database mode for SharePoint integration (before, we only had it in native mode), so we created a new database for this SharePoint Integration type. Next, I installed the Report Server Add-in for SharePoint 2007 server and it was successful. However when configuring the Report Server, we got stuck at the step "Grant Database Access". For some reason we keep getting error message "Named instance not found" We already installed Service Pack 3 on the Report Server... I heard that the problem is because the mismatched version between the Report Server Add-in in SharePoint and the SQL RS version... but I don't think this is the case for us. Do we need to install WSS on our Report Server too?     Another question: We already integrate our Report Server with Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. However I see that when the Report Server is in the SharePoint Integration mode, all the reports in CRM don't work (because Report Manager is no longer available in this mode). Do you think it would be the best practice to install a copy of Report Server instance in our SharePoint 2007 server? Thank you, greatly appreciate all your hel

Sharepoint 2010 Business Intelligence integration with datasources other than MS SQL Server

I want to Implement Business Intelligence by SharePoint 2010 on top of data sources other than MS SQL Server or MS Analytics Services ( cubes ), for example Oracle RDBMS and Oracle OLAP ( cube ) or Teradata. Quesiton : Is there any way to do this, if the is, how do I bring metadata to sharepoint BI or how do I make SharePoint BI to see other data source. I've looked at Busines Data Connectivity in Visual Studio, but that is more for two way integration and didn't seem like a good or easy way just to bring new data sources to SharePoint BI I found some tool from third party company "BDC Meta Man" which created metadata layer for Oracle RDBMS in SharePoint, but I thought there must be a way to do it by using Microsoft tools

SSRS 2008 R2 - Sharepoint list item hyperlink bug?

I have created a report based on a sharepoint list and I am using a subscription in WSS 3.0 to email the report to the users once a week. I want one column in the report to act as a hyperlink to the sharepoint list item but in the email version of the report, the URL has the list item ID repeated twice, which renders the link invalid. Initially, I tried using the 'Encoded Absolute URL' from the sharepoint list query to populate the hyperlink but this just gives a 404 NOT FOUND error and I have found documented in several places on the web that this link only works with document libraries. So instead, I decided to create the URL for the action using an expression, like this: ="http://myserver/mysite/Lists/mylist/DispForm.aspx?ID=" & ListItemID.Value This works perfectly in the development environment and when people run the report for themselves in the sharepoint document library where it is deployed but, for some reason, if I send the report on a schedule then I get the ID parameter repeated at the end twice. Like this: http://myserver/mysite/Lists/mylist/DispForm.aspx?ID=999&ID=999 I have tried rendering the report in several different formats (Word, PDF, MHTML, HTML) and they all seem to work fine in the development and when run within SharePoint but not when they are rendered and emailed using the scheduler. Is this a bug or am I missing so

using SSRS Windows File Share subscription to send file to sharepoint

Hello, I'm looking for the simplest way to automate sending SSRS reports to a Sharepoint document directory.  I know a document library is not a real directory but I am able to run copy scripts into one using the virtual path thats shown when I do Actions-> Open in Windows Explorer. However when I set up a subscription to send a report to this directory, I get an error: Failure writing file \\intranet\projects\docs\test.pdf : The network name cannot be found.  Just checking if anyone knows if this should be able to work or not. Thanks
