Using EndDate StartDate Parameters in SSRS 3.0 on WSS 3.0

Posted By:      Posted Date: May 22, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#

Hello MFST community,

I'm using the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Report Builder 3.0 (SQL Server 10.50.1600.1)

I'm using the sharepoint version Windows Sharepoint Services 3.0

I'm trying to implement a Parameter that will ask the user to enter a Start Date and End Date and will show only the data that occured between the two entered dates.

This is what I have for Report Data:

My current xml code entered in the dataset is:

<RSSharePointList xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
 <ListName>TOP Investigations</ListName>
  <FieldRef Name="Type_x0020_of_x0020_Event" />
  <FieldRef Name="Area" />
    <FieldRef Name="Type_x0020_of_x0020_Event" />
What can I do to implement a working Date Parameter?

Help Passing Multiple Parameters Via a URL in SSRS 2008

Hello Everyone, I'm totally and completely confused as to how to pass multiple paramters through a URL.  Book Online is absolutely no help because they do not offer any examples of passing multiple paramters within a URL.  Instead, I get confused over RENDER and COMMAND and what should be repeated where with each paramter and on and on and on. Here's my URL: javascript:void(window.open('http://sereporting01.wdig.com/ReportServer?%2fDOL%2fTEST%2fDisney+Sell-Through&rs:Command=Render&SiteName=Disney,InsertionType=300 x 250,Context=ROS','_blank','resizable=yes,toolbar=0,menubar=0')) What happens is that JavaScript opens a new window but I get a "Reporting Services Error".  I'm assuming it's because my URL parameters are not correct.  Can someone please just give me the correct syntax so that I can get on with my work? I'm editing this post to add - I'm also confused as to how paramters are supposed to be passed through to a report when default paramters are set up in the report which i'm trying to open with the URL.  Should I remove the default paramaters from the report or...what? Again, BOL offers no help on this issue and it just seems to generate more questions.  Thanks!!

How to export SSRS report to PDF from SSIS with parameters

Hello everyone.  I am trying to setup a process in which a user, who is using a vb.net 2008 application, will need to  trigger the creation of two items.  The first is  SSRS report which will need to be exported to PDF format to a shared folder on the network.  This report accepts one parameter.  The second thing that will need to be created at the same time is an excel file with data exported from SQL Server 2008 which is generated through an SSIS package.  A couple things to note.  The excel file and the pdf file need to have the same file name, other than the extension.  For example P00000001_20100831.pdf and P00000001_20100831.xlsx and will both be stored in the same network share.  The filenames need to be created dynamically at run time and will be based on a parameter being passed to the report. So far I have the portion that creates the excel file working fine.  The way I create that is as follows.  I have a stored procedure that creates a job which calls the SSIS package and passes the appropriate parameters to the SSIS package.  After the job is created I immediately run it and then delete the job.  Ok, everything works fine with that. Now I cant seem to figure out how to get the pdf created.  If possible I would like to keep this portion together with the already created job or package.&nb

SSRS 2005 WebService Programatic Multiple Parameters?

I am using ssrs webservices with c#. Works great until I try to pass in multiple parameters then I get: "Default value or value provided for the report parameter 'X' is not a valid value." I am at a loss - I have the split function in my stored procedure and can pass in the values like '01/05/2010,01/062010' etc no problems. I have tried wrapping the comma seperated string with single quotes and without, tried adding them as seperate inputs with no luck same response. Report works fine from SSRS interface but not when calling it using web services. Any assistance is greatly appreciated - I have done numerous web searches and found no answers. Below is the c# code snipet: //set up the parameters List<ParameterValue> input = new List<ParameterValue>(); ParameterValue pval = new ParameterValue(); pval.Name = param.Name; pval.Value = "'" + paramsSelected + "'"; input.Add(pval); //call the report service.Render( ReportName, "PDF", null, null, input.ToArray(), null, null, out encoding, out mime, out outParams, out outWarn, out outStreams);

Passing parameters from ASP.Net web page to SSRS report

I have a web page that displays some data.  The user first selects a date range on the web page and then can edit some data.  When they click a submit button, I want to run a report.  But I would like to pass the start date and end date values that the user already entered on the web page to the report.  Is this possible?  Can I use the value of a session variable in the report? Problems passing parameters to SSRS report from ASP.Net web page

I have a web page that displays some data.   When they click a submit button, I want to run a report.  But I would like to pass the start year/month and end year/month values that the user already entered on the web page to the report.  Here is what my url looks like when the report is displayed: http://xyzserver/Reports/Pages/Report.aspx?ItemPath=%2fReports%2fDevicesAllNew&rs:Command=Render&StartYYMM=201007&EndYYMM=201008 But my report displays the 2 textboxes for my StartYYMM and EndYYMM parameters as empty.  What am I doing wrong?  I did a google search and I saw something about using ReportServer instead of ReportManager.  I notice at the top of the browser when I run my report, it reads "Report Manager - Windows Internet Explorer".  Is this correct? Issue with Enable and Disable Parameters in SSRS 2005

Hi Guys, I am currently facing an issue with Enabling and Disabling Parameters in SSRS 2005. Here is my scenario. I am having the following 4 parameters - ParamType (has values 1,2,3), ParamMonth, ParamStartDate, ParamEndDate Now What I want is When I select ParamType = 1 and 2 then ParamMonth should be enabled and ParamStartDate and ParamEndDate should be disabled. When I select ParamType = 3 then ParamStartDate and ParamEndDate should be enabled and ParamMonth should be disabled. I have done google search on this issue and found out that this is not possible at run time. Is there any alternative for this issue? If the above is not possible, I would like to get atleast in this way : When I select ParamType = 1 and 2 then ParamMonth should show the values (from dataset named MonthDataSet and default should be the latest Month) and ParamStartDate and ParamEndDate should show as NULL. When I select ParamType = 3, then I need to enter ParamStartDate and ParamEndDate values manually or pick via datepicker and ParamMOnth should show as NULL. I am not sure whether this is possible or not....but just trying to get in some way. Here is the query used in MonthDataSet : Select Month_Code, Month_Name from MonthTable. Thanks

Multi Value Parameters in SSRS 2005

Hi Guys, I am having a parameter 'Employee' and it is multi valued. This parameter gets values from Dataset 'Emp_Data'. It has the follwing query: Select Employee_Code, Employee_Name from Employee_Table. I tried to do this but didnt get What I exactly want. What I have done is : IN the Report Prameters tab, went to Default Values section and selected From Query option and given the dataset name as 'Emp_Data' and Value Field as Employee_Code. Now When I view it in the Preview tab. I am getting as this in the Parameter Employee text box: Employee - James, Ross, Steve, Mark, Kevin........ For some reason, the client did not like this and they wants to see default as ALL Employees (instead of all those names displayed in the text box). So Is there a way to make it as ALL Employees as default (when all employees are selected). Note : I tried in this method also : Select 'ALL' as Employee_Code, 'All Employees' as Employee_Name                                         Union

SSRS cascading parameters always select all

I have 4 paramters that are cascading(the last parameter depends on the one before that and that one depends on the one beofore that etc.) The are all multivalue with a select all option.

When I click 2 options in my first parameter all values in the list below that get checked. This is good. Now when I click an extra value in my first parameter in the parameter under this the new values show up but they do not get selected. Is there a way to always select all in all parameter lists?

SSRS and Valid Parameters

Hi All,

Can anybody please suggest the best practice to achieve the following.

Using SQL Server 2008 Reporting services and Parameters.

1. Created a dataset (Districts) which is having fields ID and Name.

2. Used both fields in the report, which is working fine.

3. I want to create 2 parameters on the report, a textbox for ID and a drop down list displaying district names.

4. I want to generate report for all the below scenarios.

    a) Entered only ID in the textbox.
    b) Selected only district name from the drop down list
    c) Entered both the data ID and district name.

if i used "AND" and "OR", i'll not the accurate data for the above scenarios to work.

Please suggest. Is there a way to take the parameter only if user entered.

I have created an SSRS in BIDS 2008 with OLEDB Provider so as to access MS Access 2010 DB. My report is working fine. But the only problem is when am sending multiple parameter it raises error. I have enabled AllowMultiple Value checkbox.

ERROR : "Cannot add multi value parameter '@parametername" for DataSetName because it is not supported by the data extension".

My query is "SELECT * FROM tablename WHERE ([columnname] in (@parametername))"

Thanks in advance

Issue with multi valued parameters in SSRS using Oracle data source

Hi All,

I have a dataset which is getting data from oracle datasource and my Dataset query expression is

="select To_Char(Time_Stamp,'Month') as Month, Node_Name as Device,Connection,MSNAME,Monitor,Avg as Average,Max as Maximum FROM OracleDataVW where ((monitor='X' and msname in ('Y')) or (MONITOR = 'CPU Utilization' AND MSNAME = 'utilization')) and TO_Char(Time_Stamp,'Mon YYYY') in  ('"+ Join(Parameters!Parameter1.Value,",") +"')"

My parameter is multiValued parameter. The above query is working good if i select one value,however if select more than one value or all it is not giving me the data. I tried to put Ltrim and Rtrim in Join but it is giving me another syntax error.

Please help me with this

How do I call an SSRS Report from a stored procedure, and pass parameters?

Hi all,

I have a Report, that I want to run ad-hoc from a Stored Procedure.

I want to render this report to PDF format, and save it to a drive.

The difference between this post and most threads I've seen is I don't want to run a stored proc within the report and send parameters to the stored proc.

I DO want to call a report FROM the stored proc, and send parameters TO the report.

How can I do this?

Many thanks,

SSRS - Date Format & Parameters Refresh.

I am using SSRS 2005 with Enesys Add on Tool for reports.

I have used date format as "dd-MMM-yyyy" in the application and used the same in the report.

Issue : 1

I want to convert this format into a format where i can sort the date fields as and when exported to excel sheets.

Issue : 2

Some of the values are null and when exported to excel cant see the null values. I am using Format function in the conversion so that if the value is nothing, show nothing or show the value.

Need to resolve this as when the report is exported to excel i can see null values or squares in the columns when applying filters.

Issue : 3

The input paremeters are refreshed everytime i select a new value in other parameters. There is no dependency on the input parameters.

Please help me out in resolving these issues ASAP.

Need to submit these today EOD.

Thanks in Advance.

how to call multi-value parameters in SSRS from asp.net application?

hi all

i am trying to call an SSRS report (in VS 2005) from my asp.net (web application) implemented in VS 2008 (don't ask me why, i am kind of confused by this weird arrangement too). report has been deployed to report server and it contains a multi-value parameter.

when i call report from asp.net app, i set the value for this multi-value parameter as a string and all selected values are separated by comma. i.e. i have 5 options (a, b, c, d, e), and i selected first two, the string is then "a,b".

the multi-value parameter on the report side is defined as: Multi-value selected, Allow blank selected, Avaliable values are from query (a dataset that contains a, b, c, d, e) Value field and Label field are both mapped to dataset filed (there is only one field in the dataset). the default values are from query too (same dataset). value field is mapped also.

i have two problems:

1: it looks to me that all available values are selected on the report side, regardless what i really selected and passed over (when i turn on paramters).

2: when i turn off parameters, i need to display what values being selected as a string, the join statement, join(Parameters!TeamLead.Value), gives a list of all available values for the multi-value parameter, however, i only need selected values. h

Separate Date and Time report parameters in SSRS 2005

Is it possible to declare separate report parameters in SSRS 2005 as Date and Time?

I want the user to be able to enter a date and a time.

When I declare the parameters in my stored procedure as datetime, in SSRS the parameter just shows as a Date only.
