I have setup report subscriptions delivered via email,  on Sharepoint and they tend to fail sending email randomly. It works most of the time, once or twice a week few subscriptions fail. Here is the detailed error message:

SharePoint 2010 Reporting Services Integrated-mode Error

I am running SharePoint 2010 and Reporting Services 2008 R2 SharePoint integrated-mode. I am able to browse to the reportserver site : http://DBserver/reportserver which lists my site collections and I am able to get to the document library which holds my reports. However, when I try opening a report I get the following error: Report Server has encountered a SharePoint error. (rsSharePointError) The security validation for this page is invalid. Click Back in your Web browser, refresh the page, and try your operation again. For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors I am able to resolve that issue by going to Central Admin, Application Management, General Settings and turning Web Page Security Validation Off. But if I do that I get an error when using silverlight features like site, or list creation. Any ideas?

Rendering Reports in Reporting Services 2008 in Sharepoint Integrated Mode

I have created a site collection using the Report Center template. I successfully deployed my VS2008 Reporting Servivces project to the Sharepoint site. However, when I goto the reports library and attempt to run a report I get "unknown error" message"

Also, I can create a dashboard consisting of one of my reports. However, when I attempt to view the reports via the dashboard, I get the following error message:

An error occurred during client rendering.

The target location you specified is not supported by the report server. A report definition (.rdl), report model (.smdl), resource, or shared data source (.rsds) file must be located within a library or a folder within it.

Excessive Deadlocking Reporting Services 2008 Integrated.

Hi, we have a major issue with deadlocking on our reporting Server TEMPDB (REPORTSERVERTEMPDB). The platform is a Sharepoint Integrated platform allong the following lines 2 WFE Servers (NLB) 2 Sharepoint application servers 2 SQL Reporting Services (NLB) Cluster hosting Sharepoint DB's Cluster hosting Reporting Services DB's and the Data. This error is occuring for both manually running reports via sharepoint and load testing, and is happening on our testing platform as well which is slightly different in configuration. Reported back to the users is "An error occurred within the report server database. This may be due to a connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database" Running a profile with 1224 set, we are finding deadlocks on the REPORTSERVERTEMPDB on PK_SNAPSHOTDATA. We have tried the following 1. Dropping the PK - The deadlock was then showing an OBJID which we could not identify. 2. Change the database properties to READ-COMMITTED_SNAPSHOT and ALLOW_SNAPSHOT_ISOLATION to ON 3. Re-create and change the PK to ALLOW_PAGE_LOCKS OFF None have these have had an impact on the issue This has become apparent since the following actions were taken 1. The setting of caching has been enabled by the developers 2. The Report Server DB's were moved from the Sharepoint Cluster to the Data Cluster. I do have an XDL file from Profiler but it is to

SSRS integrated mode email subscription to AD dist group

I have MOSS 2007 running SQL 2008 SSRS integrated mode and have created some reports and report subscriptions. Everything is working great. Now I want to use an Active Directory Distribution Group as a recipient for a report subscription - does not work, however the "last results" show no error. Try again using Dist Group in TO: field but adding regular email in CC: field...only email in CC field receive report, again all successful. Does SSRS integrated mode support AD distribution groups? if so is there any special setup required? Thanks LmmMmmm...yummy...

Writing mode: vertical in Reporting Services 2008

I am new to Reporting Services 2008. I have a report from SSRS 2005. In that report layout, I modified text field's orientation to Vertical and set its writing mode as tb-rl. So, a field called [Report] displays  text vertically starting from R.

If this text is long say [Reporting services] it still displayed it vertically in one single line in SSRS 2005. But in SSRS 2008, It is appearing in two vertical lines. How can I get text in one vertical line?

Please advise.

reporting services 2008 email subscriptions

We recently converted from RS2005 to RS2008.  In RS2005 when our users subscribed to a report to be delivered by email, RS would automatically add the user name to the "To" field for report delivery.  The user would be added with the format "joe.smith" but without the domain (i.e. "@mycompany.com" ).  This worked fine and our users would get the reports emailed to them.

In RS2008, RS is also defaulting the "To" with the name portion of the email address "joe.smith" just like it did in RS2005.  However, this does not work in RS2008.  I get the following error

"Failure sending mail: At least one recipient is required, but none were found. Mail will not be resent."

Did we miss a configuration setting?  Or is this a change in how RS operates?

SQL Server Express 2008 Reporting Services - rsAccessDenied error

I've read through a lot of posts regarding the problem, but none of the proposed solutions have worked for me. I continue to get an error stating, "The permissions granted to user '<servername>\Rich' are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied)." If I am logged in as the local administrator account, entering the Reporting Services URL in IE doesn't give me that error, but it takes me to a blank page. I haven't been able to get to a SSRS home page at all.

Order of operations:

  1. I installed and patched Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
  2. I installed SQL Server Express 2008 with Advanced Services using the MS web installer.
  3. I downloaded and installed SP1 for SQL Server Express 2008.
  4. Opened up an instance of IE and tried to go to http://<servername>/Reports, receiving the above error. Well, technically I first tried /ReportServer_SQLExpress as reflected in the SSRS configuration manager, but that didn't work, either. I then changed the Web Service URL to use the virtual directory, "Reports" instead of the longer ReportServer_SQLExpress. It didn't work either way.

I've tried running IE as administrator, adding local machine to trusted sites, and just about every other suggestion I've found. I even ran the entire installation logged in as the loc

Error Upgrading from SQL Server 2000 - > 2008 R2 Reporting Services

Hello, I am having some trouble upgrading an existing SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services installation from an old server to a new one commissioned for this purpose, which is running SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services.  I have been following the instructions here:

but after trying to connect with reporting services 2008, i get this error:

The version of the report server database is either in a format that is not valid, or it cannot be read. The found version is 'C.0.6.54'. The expected version is '147'. (rsInvalidReportServerDatabase)

before starting the process, I ran upgrade advisor and got back the following results:

Setup can upgrade a SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services instance that uses a SQL Server 2000 Database Engine in the same instance. However, upgrade is blocked if the report server database is in a different instance, on a remote instance, or runs on a remote SQL Server 2005 instance in SQL Server 2000 compatibility mode.

*note, our reporting services IS in the same instance as the SQL Server 2000 database engine.  However, upgrade advisor still reported that this instance can not be au

RDL Rendering (500 Internal Server) Error at Sharepoint Integrated Reporting Service

I have a serious problem that cannot be solved by googling around the keywords below:
sharepoint, moss 2007, reporting service, ssrs 2008, rendering, internal server error, ....

The error is;

"An error occurred during client rendering. The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error. "

Everything is O.K.;

* When I render the report from the REPORTSERVER (http://localhost/ReportServer)
* When the reports are scheduled to be sent by the reporting service (planned via MOSS 2007)

But if I open (render) the RDL file from the sharepoint REPORTS LIBRARY interface, all of the reports fail with that internal error message above.

It is weird also that parametrized reports are displayed without errors although the parameters are queried from a sql dataset. But I got the error when rendering the report after I've chosen a parameter  and order "apply/report"...

Possible causes how I met that error may be;

After I have installed (then uninstalled) AJAX extensions
After I have re-configured IIS Web Service Extensions list items

Possible solution alternatives I've found;

I've found a solution on MSDN replying a similar issue with an ideal cause of the error but an evreka answer but no sol

Error installing SharePointRS (Reporting Services AddIn)

I trying to install the SharePointRS AddIn on the SharePoint-Maschine. The installation runs and after the setup does something, it rollback the installation and informs me with just a message, that it was not successful. After searching for the installation log, I've found it in my temp folder. The error was:
"Install error: The 'Mapping' start tag on line 83 does not match the end tag of 'ByExtension'. Line 139, position 7.".
What means this error? How can I solve it?

SQL Server 2008 Install failure - Reporting Services Rule Failures

I'm installing SQL Server 2008 on Windows 7.  I'm going through the install and on the "Installation Rules" page I have two failures: Reporting Services Catalog Database File Existance Reporting Services Catalog Temporary Database File Existance Clicking on each of the failures they both say that each file exists "Select a reporting services file-only mode installation" Clicking the "Help" button tells me to "Rename, move, or delete the files" This is the only information I can find on this exact failure.  I'm not technical enough to know exactly where these files are or what they are named.  I cannot proceed any further without correcting this issue.  I'll include some of the shorter summary log files.  I can include other detail log files if that would help. Thank you so much for any help. Windows service can't use Reporting Services on SQL Service 2008 R2

Hello. I have a Windows service that run as Local System account. The service uses the Reporting Services ReportService2005.asmx web service. When I have SQL Server 2008 installed, I have no problems and my service is able to browse and create report. After I have installed SQL Server 2008 R2 I get the error "The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized." when the service tries to use the web service. If I change my service to log on as a user with administrator rights, it is able to use Reposting Services again. What has changes in SQL Server 2008 R2, that doesn't allow the Local System account to use Repoting Services? And is it possible to configure Reporting Services to allow it?   - Per

"An error occurred during printing. (0x8000405)" eror - reporting services issue

We are getting this error: "An error occurred during printing. (0x8000405)" from time to time - 70% of the time when we are trying to use a printer button within report manager. It happens if we preview report or just print it. We noticed if we restart RS services, the error will stop for a little bit and then starts again. We don't print that much and it will come back after just a few reports printed. Let me know if you had a similar issue. thanks!
