InfoPath metadata fields are null after a SP database migration

Posted By:      Posted Date: May 22, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#

Can anyone tell me why this happened?  If I go into each form and submit again the metadata fields populate in my list, however I have several thousand of these and can't do it manually... we are about to migration to 2010 and I'm wondering if this will happen again?  What caused this? Bad form design? How to avoid it in the future?

Report Library metadata lost during content database migration

We upgraded content databases from SharePoint 2007 Enterprise to SharePoint 2010 Enterprise.  A few of our users were using a Report Library (not related to SSRS).

During the upgrade, it stripped out the "History" column.  We went through the audit log (using Axceler ControlPoint) and it showed the user who performed the upgrade deleted the "Reporting Metadata/2_.000", for example.  The delete was done by the actual upgrade process, though, not the user.

It seems that this was a global action carried across all sites in the farm during the upgrade.

Metadata: Create a Database Schema Repository with Meta Data Services in SQL Server 2000

SQL Server 2000 Meta Data Services is a repository technology that stores and manages metadata for SQL Server. Instead of building database schemas over and over, Meta Data Services allows you to freeze an entire schema for use in other projects. You can also use these schemas for training, testing, or debugging. In this article, the authors will review the various components of Meta Data Services and show how it can be programmed using a Visual Basic client, XML, and XSLT. They will also show you how to manage and manipulate your metadata by generating a simple database schema using a SQL Server repository.

Linq to SQL returns null for DateTime fields.

I have a linq to sql entity class in which I declared some DateTime fileds like this:

[Column(DbType = "smalldatetime")]
public DateTime? StartDate { get; set; }

And this is how I fetch data form repository:

return repository.Logs.OrderByDescending(l => l.LogID).FirstOrDefault();

All non DateTime fields are filled properly but all datetimes are null.

[Column(DbType = "smalldatetime")]

        public DateTime? StartDate { get; set; }

Add new fields Profile database

I have new "Fields" which is not in the AD of my users. I want to add these new "Fields/ Columns" in the Profile database?

Change database fields automatically according to date

Hi, I'm currently developing a software application for my client. Part of the project is to keep track of his stock's shipping status. The client must insert the stock's pick-up date, expected time of departure (ETD) and expected time of arrival (ETA). The stocks will be called out using Grid View and the status, being one of the keys of the database, will be shown. Before the current date reaches pick-up date, the status must show "in warehouse", and after the current date reaches pick-up date and is before ETD, status must show that its "on the way to the port", and after ETD and before ETA, "in freight", and finally after ETA, "arrived". What datatype should I use for the database and where should I program it so that it changes automatically accordingly ?

Updating a List item field value in a SPD Workflow is setting Date fields to null

Hello everybody,I faced a very weird behavior while creating a workflow in SPD against a Document Library.Here is the case:1- Create a document library in sharepoint site.2- Add a custom column of type DATE.3- Upload any document to the library4- Edit the item metadata and set the custom date field to any date you want.5- Now using sharepoint designer, create a very simple Workflow with only one action that updates the current item "Title" field to any value. (Note: In my case I set the workflow to start manually and not automatically)6- Save the workflow and then start it on the uploaded item.7- Now check the value of the date column after the workflow is finished.8- You will see that the Date field is Empty... (very weird)Notes:   1-This behavior will not appear on a standard list. it is only appearing in a Document library.  2- I am using WSS 3.0 SP2 + MOSS 2007 SP2. Also SharePoint designer 2007 SP2Did anyone face this situation and does it have a fix, or am I doing something wrong here... Please help.Regards,Maheed

Using UserName to enable disable access to InfoPath form fields

Hi Everyone, I have created a browser enable form in InfoPath and restrict certain fields depending on the official logged on User Name. Now this works most of the time but my problem has to do with the "case" of User Names for some of the site users. In most cases the User Name is an exact match but for some reason, some user's names are reported by SharePoint (the Welcome at top of screen) with some parts captilized. Example - my hidden filed on the form reports my user name as xrs_master but the Welcome up top says XRS_Master - and the fields act as though I am not the correct user and won't enable. On the other hand there are users who's user name matches the case exactly and all works fine. Why is SharePoint reporting the user name differently? And if this is the reason they don't match, how do I fix it? Any Ideas? Many thanks in advance for help!

migration MSDE 2000 SP3 database to SQL 2005 SP3: low performance on 2005 Express

I've detach MSDE 2000 SP3 database. I've attach into SQL 2005 Express SP3 and SQL 2005 Standard SP3. I've change compatibility level to 90. I've update statistics with EXEC sp_MSforeachtable @command1="UPDATE STATISTICS ? WITH FULLSCAN" The execution time of a TSQL into the same hardware (1 CPU, Quad Core) are: SQL 2005 Express SP3: 20" SQL 2005 Standard SP3: 0" The execution plan is different. Why?

How to sum up InfoPath calculated fields

I have a repeating table with calculated fields on each row.  At the end, I need to sum up all these calculated fields into total.  Which total is also a calculated field to sum up 2 calculated fields in the repeating table.  The total never show anything after data entry.  How can I sum up total from the calculated fields?  For example: QTY 1 of a Computer would cost $1000.  In the repeating row, I will allow customer to fill in multiple rows.  A field named line item total is a calculated field named EXTCOST which is set to QTY X Computer = $1000.  At the bottom of the form, I would like to sum up EXTCOST to get the Grand Total Cost.  The Grand Total Cost is fomat as SUM(EXTCOST) which is zero at all time. Please advise. Brian.

Issue with Alerts with multiple Managed MetaData fields?

i'm seeing an issue in SharePoint 2010 with alerts.  If a list has more than 1 Managed MetaData columns, alerts stop working.  If I take it down to only one managed metadata column, they start working again.  Is this a known issue?  I'm seeing it in multiple sites/mulitple users.

Putting data from a variables into a compaq sql database row of fields?

Hi everyone,  I have not used database in two years and have forgotten how to set one up completly. I have made a compaq databse 3.5 and have built the columns. I know how to put the data in manualy. I watched the Video on database and it showed how to bind controls to the datbase but it gave no method when you have the data in variables.  What I have is 7 variables some are using arrays and some are made up from data in  the arrays. I need to populate the db with the data in these variables at the time when my applications has the data ready. I have the connection set up and it does open and close the connection but every search I have made has used binding to bind database to a control that has the data in it.  What method would be the best to use performance wise? Could you point me to an example of this method? CurtisAlways Lost in Code, Always mark answers as correct if they answer you question and solve your problem. Managed Metadata and Infopath

Being disabused by the fact that Infopath does not manage Managed Metadata columns, I started to look at the possibility of implementing a custom Infopath control that would use the taxonomy web service to alleviate the problem. I've found on the Infopath 2010 official blog an article on creating Infopath Custom controls... that dates back to 2005 ! Can anyone tell me if it's still up to date ?  And did anyone already tried what i'm suggesting ? http://blogs.msdn.com/infopath/archive/2005/04/15/creating-an-infopath-custom-control-using-c-and-net.aspxSenchin
