How to edit email message sent by CreateTaskWithContentType activity?

Posted By:      Posted Date: May 22, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#

I have created a custom document approval workflow in Visual Studio 2008. When workflow creates a task the approver gets a email created from the wrong template "A new Page Needs your Approval to add to MySite". Looks like message is coming from another workflow. But I create a task base on my custom content type. How to add email template for my workflow?

How do I add additional information to email message

I have a contact form that has the standard email fields such as name, email, street address, city, state, and body.  This is being done with System.Net.Mail.  I understand how to use the body, to/from address, and subject.  I don't understand how to include the street address, city, and state with the email though.  I want this additional information to be sent with the email some how so the recipient can have access to it.  I assume this should be included with the body when the email is sent.  I don't understand the best way to so this though.  I thought about appending the values of these fields to the body of the email.  I don't know how to format this so it looks good though.  The formatting I want to do is very basic.  I would like each of these values to be on a separate line before or after the body of the email.  I'm not interested in colors or anything too fancy.   I prefer to send a plain text email, if possible, if these values can be included on their own line.Can anyone provide an example or a link to an article on this?  Do I have to use an html formatted email and create new lines with in the body for these fields?

How can I edit the link to the document in a Approval Task email?

With the 2010 out of the box Approval workflow, the emails and tasks work just great, however, when a user receives the email, the instructions look like this:

To complete this task:
2. Perform the specific activities required for this task.
3. Use the Open this task button to mark the task as completed. (If you cannot update this task, you might not have access to it.)

Currently, we are using a friendly url for our users, in order to access their SharePoint site.  The <LINKED DOCUMENT> when clicked on, gives them an error and doesn't take them to the actual document in the SharePoint site, because of the fact that we are using a different url name for the site.

If there any way I can edit this auto-generated email so that the links will always be to the friendly url of our SharePoint site with each document?

Thanks in advance!

Create Email Message and Send to Client For Review before Sending

Please read this post carefully. I am not looking to actually send an email using ASP.NET.

I am looking for a means by which ASP.NET can create an Outlook MailItem and stream it to the client machine for the user to review prior to sending. I know that its possible to create files such as Word docs and Excel spreadsheets an then stream them, but I don't know how to do it with ASP.NET.

Sending GridView in Email Message

How can I send GridView in Email Message.

Trying to generate dynamic link to a document within approval workflow email message

In the out of the box approval workflow, the fields below are used to dynamically create a link within the email for a user to access the item/document to be reviewed:

Review [%TaskProcess:Item Title%].[%Variable: InternetLink%]

If I create an approval workflow and modify the text around what comes out of the box, the link works.  If I add those exact fields (period and space included) via the "Add or Change Lookup" box (field selector), it doesn't work. It displays the title as a link but without a document extension of XML (for Infopath form for instance).

I don't want to have to delete my workflow and recreate it just to get that link to work.

Any ideas on why the "[%TaskProcess:Item Title%].[%Variable: InternetLink%]" only works when it is created out of the box versus building the string manually ?

"Send Email" activity doesn't send email to Google App mail only!

Suddenly i faced this issue this morning, SPD workflow can send email to all the domains except my Google App Mail domain.

It can send to gmail, yahoo, hotmail but it doesn't succeed my google app email!

Unable to edit master page - message "building report"

I am able to open the site (SPS 2010) using Sharepoint Designer 2010. When I browse to the master page, I can check it out and when I try to edit, it gives me a message saying that it is trying to build the report. But nothing happens even if I wait for hours.

I am trying to edit the master page so that I can change the top banner and to provide mouse-over text for the sites. I would really appreciate if anyone could provide any advice to get around this.

I am also curios about one thing. For some reason, I am unable to open the site using sharepoint designer if I try to open the site via http. But I am able to open the https site. Does it have to do anything with alternate access mappings?

Please advise.

How can I suppress Outlook 'warning' message when sending email via c#

I am currently using the follow to send email from rich client application - not sure if this is the best solution - lack of knowledge of SMTP authentication, SMTP server etc... and wanted to utilize Exchange.

Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.MailItem mail = (Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.MailItem)
new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.ApplicationClass().CreateItem(Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.OlItemType.olMailItem);
Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.ApplicationClass app = new ApplicationClass();
mail.Attachments.Add(strFileNameLocation, Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.OlAttachmentType.olByValue, 1, strFileNametoAttach);

mail.To = to;
mail.Subject = subject;

Everytime a message has to be send, Outlook throws up a warning message and the user needs to 'authorize' the use of outlook. Is there anyway of suppressing the warning message.

Newbie - from a workflow, can I send an email that lets the receiver edit a field from the email?

Hello - newbie here.

I have a workflow where it sends an email to someone with a link to the item. They then click the link to edit the item and save it. The change they make is settings a status field on the item in the list to A, B, or C

What i'd like to do is send an email where they can see the status choices for the item, then make the change directly in the email.

Is this possible without a massive amount of work? I'm not a developer - just trying to get something done.

"Email message cannot be sent" error, but email still sending

I have SMTP configured corrently and can send emails with no problem. There is one place in my workflow that sends a reminder email if a task is not complete (after a Delay activity). When the reminder email is sent, I get the following error in the History Log: The e-mail message cannot be sent. Make sure the outgoing e-mail settings for the server are configured correctly. -- The weird thing is that the email still sends, and the workflow continues to run. I am using the SendMail activity rather than the SPUtility at this point (and the sendmail code used to put the email together is the same as a previous sendmail activity which works fine). Additionally, the error only happens on the first reminder, but all subsequent email reminders do not show the error and send just fine. I am also not able to catch the issue through the debugger. Any ideas?

Designer Workflow email and Task Edit URL

I have a custom SharePoint Designer workflow. Once this email gets trigger, it sends a standard task email with link to edit task list to approve/reject the current item. But this standard email does not have enough information, so I want to send a custom email with link to task edit form.

The standard task email will have link which will look similar to this:

The URL will look similar to: http://webserver/_layouts/WrkTaskIP.aspx?List=b0320c4f%2Df791%2D4a9c%2D9b6f%2D3f1eef448fe5&ID=1000

In my custom task email, how do I get the ID value(the last parameter) to form the task edit link?

Thanks in advance.

Creating an Email Alerts to Task Assigned user to edit the task from Email

When we use the out of the box wf in sharepoint lets say Document approval then it sends an email to the assigned user where user can edit the task with in email, they don't have to come back to Sharepoint to edit the task.

I am looking for a way so that i can send email to the user with the controls in the custom task forms. So that they can just Complete the task from email. they dont have to come back to sharepoint task list to edit and complete the task.

Is there any workaround for this.

Triggering an SSIS package upon the receipt of an email message.

Much like a "Rule" in Microsoft Outlook, I'd like to set up a process where an (already created) SSIS package is executed upon the receipt of a particular email to a particular email address.  What does everyone think the best approach would be for getting this kind of triggering working?  I've preliminarily searched the net, but can't seem to get my searches to pull up specifically relevant information (everything I pull up is related to the send-mail SSIS task).

Bind Gridview into Email Message Body

      I have a gridview in a webpage. How can I convert into an EMail message body(of either a Textbox named Text Message). I want to mail this gridview to someone. Is there any simple way to do this.

      So can anybody please hel me in this regard.

When task is created we are sending a custom email to "Assigned To" person.

Now as this is custom email, hor to add "Edit This Task" button at top of email.

Is there any way of doing it.
