Cannot crawl sharepoint site and mysite after database attach upgrade form sharepoint 2007 to 2010.

After database attach upgrade site and mysite from sharepoint 2007 to 2010 , I have full crawl and get "The crawler could not communicate with the server. Check that the server is available and that the firewall access is configured correctly. If the repository was temporarily unavailable, an incremental crawl will fix this error. ( Error from SharePoint site: HttpStatusCode ServiceUnavailable The request failed with HTTP status 503: Service Unavailable. )" for mysite and get "Access is denied. Verify that either the Default Content Access Account has access to this repository, or add a crawl rule to crawl this repository. If the repository being crawled is a SharePoint repository, verify that the account you are using has "Full Read" permissions on the SharePoint Web Application being crawled." for sharepoint site. The content access account for search is "db_owner" of both of site and mysite. How do I solved this problem ?

Attaching the Config Database in SharePoint 2007 with STSADM

Hello, We've moved our MOSS 2007 dev environment SQL database to a new server and we're having trouble attaching the config database to SharePoint using stsadm so we can access central admin. Here is the command we're running: stsadm -o setconfigdb -connect -databaseserver kraspsqltest\mosstest -databasename wss_config -farmuser "farmaccountname" -farmpassword "farmpassword" When I run this command (obviously with the correct username and password), the only message I see is: Access denied. I've checked with our DBA and nothing on his end is blocking the command. I do see the following in the event log where the command is being run: "Unknown SQL Exception 10061 occured. Additional error information from SQL Server is included below. A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.)" I've also noticed the folder containing the web.config file in IIS is no longer present on the MOSS server. Is this deleted when the config database is detached and added back when reattached? This server was working just fine prior to the database move

Hi, I have a customer that is setting up a new SPS 2010 environment. They have a Sharepint 2007 environment with one document library containing only PDF files. They will not need any metadata on these documents, but would like it to be moved to the new SPS 2010 environment only to be used for history and free text search. Move SharePoint 2007 on Windows 2003 32-bit to Windows 2008 64-bit

I am planning to move SharePoint 2007 from a Windows 2003 32-bit system to a new Windows 2008 R2 64-bit server tomorrow afternoon.  I have done much research and found only one article that gives me enough information to go on for the migration.  Others in technet have cited this article; so, I expect it is the one go use.  However, before I begin, I wanted to see if anyone has anything else to add.

Here's the article I'm planning to use:

Our current environment consist of one front end server (Windows 2003 32-bit running MOSS 2007) and one SQL server (Windows 2008 Standard 64-bit with SQL 2008 640bit).  So, we don't need to move the SQL databases - just the SharePoint front end.  We are moving to Windows 2008 R2 with MOSS 2007 (same SP and patch levels are planned).

Our final goal is to move to SharePoint 2010 in the next week or two, but this seems to be the required first step.

Most of what I've read online contradicts other things.  I've found no consistency between articles.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

How to add a Database Connection on Sharepoint Designer 2007 to access SQL 2005 tables?

I've tried and looked on many sites with different solutions for which non of them resolved my issue. I've a blank Sharepoint site and want to view data from an SQL DB. It says that a Server Error occurred and that the Data Retrieval Service didn't worked out while listing the DB's.

I tried using the 3 methods... using the also the connection string in different ways... when I do it using VB, Office and Java... I can see the data from that DB... why on Sharepoint Designer it doesn't? It supposed to be more easier than other tools.

I'm really desperate. Any help is very welcome.

Database server migration - renaming database server in SharePoint 2007

We are migrating our SharePoint databases to a new database server.  This new database server will have a new name for SharePoint to reference.  How do I go about pointing SharePoint 2007 from the old database server name to the new name?

It seems like there should be a simple solution, but I have yet to find a solid procedure.

Thank you,

Move SharePoint Foundation 2010 database from SQL 2008 R2 Express to SQL 2008 R2 Standard.

Currently, our Sharepoint Foundation 2010 's is installed in same server with SQL 2008 R2 express hosting the databases. We would like to move all the Sharepoint Foundation 2010 database to a new SQL 2008 R2 Standard Server. Can it be done?

In this technet document, http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc512725.aspx, it stated "The new database server must be running the same version of Windows Server and Microsoft SQL Server as the existing database server." Does it mean that I cannot move the database to  SQL 2008 R2 Standard Server?

SharePoint 2007 Upgrade to 2010 and the SSP database (woops)

OK everyone, I got myself a little stuck on something. We upgraded SP 2007 to 2010 in test, planned the production upgrade and upgraded production using the database attach approach, everything went pretty well except...

Users complained pretty quickly that their 'My Links' were missing and that the profile information they had previousely entered was gone... hmmm... we didn't actually check that stuff during testing, oops.

Well looking at the documentation I 'quickly' realized I had missed a step during the upgrade, both in test and prod; I never upgraded the SSP database. I created a new profile service, synch'd with AD, managed meta data service is working, upgraded the mysite content databases and bam, everything was good, or maybe not so good because I'm missing profile information that was manually entered by users.

So of course all the documentation says you need to attach that SSP database during the creation of the Profile Service, well I'm not recreating my profile service... no way. Is it to late to upgrade the SSP database? Do my users just need to start with fresh profiles and suck it up or is there some way I can get that profile data into my new environment?

Write Custom WebParts for SharePoint 2007

The popularity of SharePoint Portal Server 2003 led Microsoft to tightly integrate the next SharePoint version, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007, with its ASP.NET 2.0 WebPart framework.
