I have a SharePoint server that works perfectly well internally. When Accessing it from home, users do not get the link to mysite. I have done some reading around (specifically this article
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc288609(office.12).aspx) and wondered if this was to do with the AAM settings. However, many of the articles I have read relate
to issues where the link is there but doesn't work. I haven't been able to find anything that directly refers to a missing link. I am at a loss as to what to do.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sharepoint 2010 enterprise, I created a DNS entry and AAM for MySite - qnetmysite.company.local and all worked okay, then the customer wanted to change the URL used to access my site to "myqnet" so we deleted the DNS entry and recreated a new one. I changed
the bindings in IIS and AAM to point to "myqnet.company.local". I can enter
http://myqnet.company.local" and navigate to My News feed, My Profile, My content but when I try to navigate to MYSite the URL it takes me to is the old URL qnetmysite.company.local and internet explorer of course can't find the site. I have done an
IIS reset, flushed the DNS on the local PC, when I mouse over the MySite link I can see the wrong URL.
Please can somebody help me?
On a pretty vanilla SharePoint document library, a particular user browsing with IE8 can click on the document icon or the title link for a Word document but nothing happens. Other document types were not tested, so I can't say
if it was specific to Word documents. The user can however pull up the menu at the right of the title and select "Open in Microsoft Office Word" which will open the document in Word and is then able to modify and save the document.
The behavior has not been observed from other users using IE8. I've reviewed the users Internet Options settings and didn't see anything out of the ordinary and tried disabling pop-up blocker and other potentially interfering features without changing
the observed behavior. The user is from a different location and his configuration may or may not represent the stock configuration at that site, so I can't dismiss it without determining whether it would affect all users at his site. Word 2007
is installed on the user's machine.
Does this sound familiar? Any suggestions for troubleshooting?
We need to hide the Sharepoint 2010 ribbon for anonymous users. But we should have the Sign In Link (which is a part of the Ribbon, I believe). Please let me know the steps for this.
The Sharepoint site has been setup for custom form based authentication.
We come across an error stating "An unknown user profile error has occurred. Try recreating this user profile or updating
this user profile from the directory service to resolve this problem".
This scenario is observed only for a particular account. The User has got 3 profiles with different accounts.
Problem seems to be only on Production server while on PreProduction & Test server its working fine.
We have even tried deleting the user profile and recreate, but still the account is not accepting any profile changes. Also checked in the logs files but it didn't give any clue for the issue.
Is there any specific reason for this behaviour?
I want to disable the link "Add all authenticated users " appearing on "Add user" page. Is there a way to disable or remove this link from the "add user" page.
I referred a blog
http://sfguyalex.blogspot.com/2008/08/all-authenticated-users-please-stand-up.html where it mentions to remove the link by editing page in 12 hive AclInv.aspx.
Before doing that, is there any way thru configuration I stop users by clicking on this link?
When I click on the "Edit Memberships" link in MySite (via "My Profile" / Memberships tab), nothing happens.
What's it supposed to do? Why is it doing nothing?
We are using SharePoint OOTB Site Users webpart to display all the users in the respectives SharePoint groups. Its working fine. But, when we logged in as a user who has a member of visitors or members SharePoint groups, the user can able to see the "Add
New User" link. Eventually, the link should not be displayed for members and visitors group.
Could any one face this issue? Is this bug in the SharePoint itself?

Had to make change a change to mysites, created new web app and opens up with out issue, but the link from inside the main sharepoint site goes to the wrong place... I am having a major brain cramp on how to properly associate the mysite link to the proper
web app or vice versa...
I'm using the following code to send an email verification link (from the security tutorials). How would I modify the code below so that if the user has already clicke the verification link, it will display "account already verified" and redirect them to the login page?
How can I access someone's personal documents and their complete MySite to be sure that we have all of the important information we need?
They are no longer with the company. Can I do that from central admin?

I am facing a strange issue with my MOSS 2007 MySites.
I have a user, if anyone clicks on his profile link: http://intranet/personal/xyzuser/default.aspx, it shows the logged in user's details(instead of xyzuser's details). Though, the url has the correct user's username in it, the details in the page are
that of the logged in user.
However, in case of any other user, the above link correctly redirects to http://intranet/MySite/Person.aspx?accountname=........, but not in case of this xyzuser.
While digging deeper in this issue, I found few things:
(1) The user profile is visible if viewed though SSP's "View User Profiles"
(2) The user profile was not available in "All People" page of the site (though the user was added to the correct group in AD group for SP). To try my luck, I manually added the user in a SharePoint group (through SharePoint)
(3) There doesn't seem any error in error log related to crawling/indexing
(4) I can however open the xyzuser's correct profile page by going to http://intranet/MySite/Person.aspx?guid=.........
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
