Refactoring the Contoso Karate MVC LogOn Widget.

Posted By:      Posted Date: May 22, 2011    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net
Just recently I published this post about creating a “logon widget” for the ASP.NET MVC Contoso Karate application that I’ve started building. In this post I’m going to re-factor it. Why, you ask? Well, sometimes it’s easiest to demonstrate techniques in a “simple” way that is not necessary the most practical way. Such is the [...] Read More......(read more)

Contoso Karate - Data Driven User Interface Widgets in an ASP.NET MVC 3 Design

In the previous post in this Contoso Karate MVC Series we re-factored our LogIn control widget into a PartialView. We did this for a few reasons. Views want to be associated with only one model and we want to reserve that model for one that is more central to the particular page being displayed. Unablke to logon on Sharepoint 2007 front-end with remote IE8 client

We are having problems to logon on the sharepoint front-end server from a client pc, within the same network. The Sharepoint 2007 servers are running on WIndows 2008 Datacenter (2 Front ends, 1 index, 1 SQL database 2008 server).

When we try to logon the server creates an event with id 4625, status: 6d, sub-status: 6a. When we use the same account from IE 8.0 on one of the servers within the farm, then it works.

The same configuration is installed within another environment where evereything works.

Is there somebody that solved this issue??

Add a logon to SharePoint web site

We are running SharePoint 2007 on Windows 2003 server. We would like to add the VeriSign seal or logo on left pane of each SharePoint page. Please refer to this screenshot: http://www.chicagotech.net/images/sharepoint22.gif

Can you give step by step instruction or refer to a link?

Get current logon user id with SPContext.Current.Web.CurrentUser.LoginName

Hi all,I've been trying to search for the method to display the currently logon user id. So far, most sites I've visited used SPContext.Current.Web.CurrentUser.LoginName.I've tried this in my SharePoint custom application page. Everything works great.I have a test account, when logged in, was displayed as xxx\testacc.For some reasons, I changed the id in AD to xxx\test and did a full import to MOSS.I logged in to the custom application with the changed id, i.e. xxx\test, BUT the value of SPContext.Current.Web.CurrentUser.LoginName still displayed as xxx\testacc!How do I get the latest id? Has anyone encountered this before?Thank you.Kelvin

automatic logon using claims based FBA??

I have been using a IHttpModule that performs automatic logon on a forms based authentication using a custom membership provider. This has worked well using any .net asp.net application including SharePoint 2007. The IHttpModule listens for the AuthorizeRequest event of the application and if the user isn't logged in it uses the FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie(principal.Identity.Name, persistentCookie); to perform the "login". When I tried this on SharePoint 2010 using a claims based FBA, adding my custom membership provider as documented, I ran into some problems. First, the identity name that needed to be set in the SetAuthCookie was not the normal username, it seemed to be on a syntax like 0#.f|membershipProviderName|UserName If I used this instead (replacing membershipProviderName and UserName) with the actual ones, the login seemed to work (it felt like a hack tough and perhaps there is some better way to do this?) After a bit of testing the site the most seemed to work (a plain SharePoint 2010 site), but when I clicked on a list link (like calendar, events or announcements) I was given a servererror as below.   Has anyone any idéas? /Dan   Server Error in '/' Application. <nativehr>0x8107058a</nativehr><nativestack></nativestack>Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object. how to create property widget and change the properties of dragged-dropped UIelement in canvas in wp

I'm new in WPF development. I'd like to learn it. I'm curious and having problem in developing property widget for the UIElements. I want to change the properties of the dragged and dropped UIElement from the Property widget. How could I do this? I'd glad if any help is suggested. I've listbox and canvas. Elements from listbox can be dropped to the canvas. I'm trying to change the properties of the dropped element through a property widget. I don't know how to do this. I'd be grateful to any kind of support.   Regards, Binaya

sqlcmd - linkedserver - ALL queries fails after FIRST error from remote server - ANONYMOUS LOGON

Hello, I have very strange problem with sqlcmd , it stop working after first error returned from remote sql server (like permission denied), lets try show what I'm doing, configuration is quite simple C- client (windows 2003 x64, standalone sqlcmd client sp3) S1 - server1(windows 2003 x64, sql 2005 sp3) S2 - server2 (windows 2003 x64, sql 2005 sp3) I need connect via middle Linked Server (S1) from C to to S2, each machines have the same LOCAL Windows account C\LSUser, S1\LSUser, S2\LSUser with the same password, LSUser is not domain account, linked server is configured for Windows Account Impersonation (checked Impersonate) Example, query executed from client C: 1>exec [LS1].[DB].[dbo ].[ListTab1]; - works well, no problem 1>exec [LS1].[DB].[dbo ].[ListTab2]; - works well, no problem ok , now try modify permission on S2, I explicitly deny execute procedure [DB].[dbo ].[ListTab1] on S2 to S2\LSUser, 1>exec [LS1].[DB].[dbo ].[ListTab1]; Msg 229, Level 14, State 5, Server S2, Procedure ListTab1, Line 1 The EXECUTE permission was denied on the object 'ListTab1', database 'DB', schema 'dbo'. expected message :), but look now: 1> exec [LS1].[DB].[dbo ].[ListTab2]; Msg 18456, Level 14, State 1, Server S2, Line 1 Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'. all remote queries STOP working from client C 1> select top 10 * from [L

Logon Trigger blocking problem

I'm trying to learn how to use microsoft sync framework using the following example, but am having a problem with a logon trigger blocking something.  If I disable the trigger it will work, but that really isn't an option.  Normally, if something is blocked it is placed in a blockedLog table with the name of the user and application.  If we need to allow access then we can put this information in the BlockedExceptions table to allow it through.  Initially, the .Net SqlClient Data Provider gets blocked.  After adding it to the accepts table, I still get a blocking error due to the trigger, but I can't determine what is actually being blocked.  The table never fills with any information about what gets blocked after fixing the initial .Net SqlClient Data Provider error and I have not been able to figure out anything using the profiler or activity monitor. Sync Example in question:http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ProjectName=sync&ReleaseId=3422 CREATE TRIGGER [BlockLogins] ON ALL SERVER WITH EXECUTE AS 'DBTrigger' FOR LOGON AS BEGIN DECLARE @Allow bit SET @Allow = 'TRUE' IF (SELECT COUNT(*) FROM DB.dbo.Programs WHERE AppTitle= APP_NAME()) = 0 BEGIN -- ** Other allowed apps and users are in BlockedExceptions ** -- If it is a non-application that any user is allowed to run then let it through.

Logon to SharePoint 2010 requires \. Why?

We've installed a fairly large number of small SharePoint 2007 environments. All of these have had their own Active Directory, specified to <domainname>.local. These have been accessible from Internet, and have simply had a external DNS pointingwww.<domain>.com to the server.  In these SharePoint 2007 environments we've used Windows Authentication, and logging on has simply been a procedure of specifying username and password. It has worked just fine. However, in our first SharePoint 2010 environment, we're encountering odd problems. We use here NTLM authentication, and  domain name is <domain>.local. The domain name used in Internet iswww.<domain>.com, which points to the SharePoint 2010 environments frontend server. We'd like to login to the SharePoint environment with simple <username> and password, but it fails. We have to explicitely specify <domain>\<username> and then password to login. Why doesn't this work, and is there any relatively easy way to fix this without disturbing the environment? From logon attempts using simply username, these events appear in the Security event log: Log Name: Security Source: Microsoft-Windows-Security-Auditing Date: 7.5.2010 13:15:01 Event ID: 4625 Task Category: Logon Level: Information Keywords: Audit Failure User: N/A Computer: <COMPUTER>.<

error 1069: The service did not start due to logon problems

The local sql server that was working fine earlier does not start now. I have already created tables and accessed them using stored procedures. I get an error 1069: The service did not start due to logon problems. I have only changed my domain password. I do not remember what authentication I chose for log on. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks
