Data Points: Report Controls in SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services

Reporting has always been one of the dark arts of development. The tools typically seem to do just enough to get you to a certain point, then leave you to find workarounds to solve more complex issues.

Say What?: Make Sense of Your Web Feedback using SQL Server 2005

By now, you're certainly collecting a variety of data from your Web site. But once you collect it, what do you do with it. For it to be meaningful, this data must be categorized and analyzed. All my server-controls became unrecognized!!! like there's compilation error or web.config missing!

please help - the problem is in post subject.

I have lots of warnings with following text:

"Warning 10 Element 'HyperLink' is not a known element. This can occur if there is a compilation error in the Web site, or the web.config file is missing. C:\Users\Pavel\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\WebSites\BioWebSite\ToScientist.aspx 26 18 C:\...\BioWebSite\"

But web.confg is there! And there's no compilation error!

Site builds just fine. And If I upload it to my hoster - it works!

But with all these errors I cant add controls to pages - VS2010 adds hyperlink without ID, and intelisens stoped to work.

Strange, but in my other project (web-application) I have no such difficuty.

How to make ContentPresenter Microsoft Surface compatible?

Hey Guys, I'm working on a an application for Microsoft Surface. I want to be able to detect contact events on an instance of the ContentPresenter class. I can detect mouse and keyboard event, but not contact events. I'm thinking I solve this by creating a dummy class that extends the SurfaceUserControl and has an instance of ContentPresenter. So all I have to do in my main app is to call the dummy class and I will also be able to access contact events. Sorry guys, I'm not a well versed programmer, forgive me if I have butchered some terminology. BUT any help is much appreciated. Thanks! Kedar

Cannot start SQL Server Browser

Hello, I use SQL Server 2005 for multi-user access.  In the Surface Area Configuration, I changed the protocol from TCP/IP to Named Pipes and restarted the service.  Then I went to SQL Server Browser, stopped it and clicked on Start to restart.  I am getting a message "An error occurred while performing this operation".  I am not able to get the Browser started.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

WCF - First call to Callback instance from Server takes considerable time to make it to the client.

Hello. There's a performance problem we are facing that we are unable to fix using DuplexChannels. The first call made by the client to the server reaches the server instantly. The first call made by the server to the first client using a Callback proxy will take several seconds to reach the client. All subsequent calls to the client (as well as other clients) will reach and execute instantly. The client connects to the Server using a proxy to IServiceProvision, supplies an instance to an implementation of IClientCallback and calls IServiceProvision.Start(). The server instantly processes the call and makes an asynchronous call to IClientCallback.DoWork(), which takes several seconds to enter the client's DoWork() implementation. The remainder of the execution then runs smoothly. Also, the server will experience such a slowdown only for the very first call of the first client that connects to it. Is it normal for the Callback interface to take so much time to warmup, only on the first call to the first client? Below is the full source code. Thanks for any information you may provide. Cheers Mike Shared Class Library using System.ServiceModel; namespace Test { [ServiceContract(Namespace = "http://test/IService", CallbackContract = typeof(IClientCallback))] public interface IServiceProvision { [OperationContract] void Start(); [OperationContract] void

how to make working WPF 2010 program make changes to SQL Server 2008 Express files

(1) I have a working WPF 2010 program that manipulates a table in SQL Server 2008 Express (2) the program does delete, update, select and insert correctly however in its own project file folder logbooklmk.mdf   logbooklmk_log.ldf (3) I want the actual SQL Server 2008 express files to be changed yes I know the issue is sharing and the copy option only applies to the local project files. I found this out by trying always copy, never copy and copy if newer. I probably have to change the .xsd folder to refer to the actual SQL Server 2008 Express file. Tried that once and it failed. Something about sharing not allowed.
