Create user is creating aspxxxx.mdf database in my app_data folder

I had already setup roles for my pages and requirements call for ability to manage and create users.

So i was looking at code that allows you to do so using membership, even though i got the page to work, it was creating a database in my app_data folder.. i already have SQLExpress setup with the asp schema, but cant figure out how to get my application to use that instead of creating the db in the folder?

What am i missing or doing wrong?

I have the following setup in my web.config file..

		<authentication mode="Windows"/>
			<deny users="?"/>
        <add name="SqlMembershipProvider" type="System.Web.Security.SqlMembershipProvider, System.Web, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a"

Create report that lists every user with permissions for each folder

I would like to have a report that will list each user with it's roles for every folder. We have a very large RS database with a lot of folders, we need some better way to keep track of permissions. I created a report that utilizes "GetPolicies" from http://localhost/reportserver/ReportService2005.asmx but I have to feed a folder name to get list of users. I can also (by using subreport) list all folders with users. However, I am not able to produce a report where I have it broken by user. any idea?

SharePoint 2007 - Survey list - Getting user's Windows account ID from a web service using display

Surveys...grrrr.   I am developing a .NET console application that accesses survey data from a single survey list using the MOSS web service "Lists".   I am able to enumerate the survey list and get to the items except for the author of the survey response.  When I get to the column ows_Author, it appears to be a lookup value formatted like this:  "1066;#JOHN DOE".   How can I, using web services alone, lookup the corresponding Windows login ID of that user?  If I go to the survey in SharePoint and click on the name in the view, it takes me to a site-based user profile page that does show the account ID I want.  The page that displays appears to be a virtualized page like this "_layouts/userdisp.aspx?ID=1066".   What I really need is JOHN DOE's account ID like "domain\id". Can I get to this with the data I have available? Thanks

How to connect to a WCF intalled as a windows service with user name and password

I have installed my WCF service using

        <endpoint address="service" binding="wsDualHttpBinding" contract="aa.IABC" name="HttpBinding"/>

And I intall this service as a Windows service..

When installing the service I am giving

                serviceProcessInstaller1.Account = ServiceAccount.User;
                serviceProcessInstaller1.Username = userName;
                serviceProcessInstaller1.Password = password;

I am trying to connect to this service using my client but cannot open the channel .

          <binding name="HttpBinding" closeTimeout="00:01:00" openTimeout="00:01:00"
              receiveTimeout="00:10:00" sendTimeout="00:01:00" bypassProxyOnLocal="false"

Create an exchange interface to call a Windows Service with WCF

I'm develpong an application that consists on a Client that communicates with a Windows Service via WCF.
I have three projects defined: MyClient, MyService, MyExchangeClasses

The first two are easy to understand, client and server. The MyExchangeClasses project contains the interface for MyService remote function calls and contains the implementation of those classes that are passed via parameter o are returned by the remote functions that implement the interface I've already mentioned.

For example I have one remote funciton defined in the interface like this:

public interface IService1
   IEnumerable<MyObject> GetAllMyObjects();

And MyObject is defined like this:

public class MyObject
    public String Name { get; set; }

So in order to make it work MyExchangeClasses needs to be referenced in both MyClient and MyService classes.

How to create a WCF web service using TCP protocol hosted on windows services and compatible with no

windows service creates a tmp file under service account user

We have a WCF windows service. We install this service with service account say e.g. WCF_ServiceAcc

When we start the service a tmp file gets created under the service account.

Sometimes this files grows bigger and the service stops working.

Do let us know why this is happening?

Using .NET (C#) windows service to interact with Windows user sessions

Hey all.

I have an issue and do not exactly know the best way to solve it.

I have a windows service that will be running in the background, using WCF to receive requests to update software I will have installed on each machine. As part of the update, it will need to close windows services, which is fine. But I also need to close down any applications that are running that I wish to update. Also I will need to let a user know (if someone is logged on) that something is happening.

Basically, how do I see who is logged on, and then from my windows service, close down possible running applications on the users session, and display a front end gui screen that I will be creating as a WPF form.

I've read that there are certain things like using netapi32.dll with NetWkstaUserEnum, to possibly get user names, and things like WTSEnumerateSessions. Although I am not 100% sure which if any of these I should/need to use.

Thanks, Paul.

Windows Service Applications Tutorials

You can easily create services by creating an application that is installed as a service. For example, suppose you want to monitor performance counter data and react to threshold values. You could write a Windows Service application that listens to the performance counter data, deploy the application, and begin collecting and analyzing data.

How to create a windows mobile (Smart Device) .Cab installer

A Cab file is the default setup format for Windows CE and Windows Mobile devices (similar to windows .msi files). You probably already have installed several application using .cab files, and are familiar with the concept. One point which is often unknown is that .cab files are processed by wceloader.exe, and it can only install one .cab file at a time. That means we cannot have nested .cab files. It doesn't mean we cannot have .cab files contained by another .cab, but the contained .cab files will not be installed during the installation of the container .cab. We should install it manually after the container .cab file installation has been completed.

There are two ways to create a cabinet (.Cab) file. The traditional one, and the friendly VS Smart Device Cab project which doesn't require additional coding, but which also relies on the traditional one at low-level.

form feild hints are not displaying for textboxses inside create user wizard?

I'm using following JS code to display input hint box besides the textbox whenever that asp.net textbox receives focus.

I'm doing this for a registration form and all of the textboxes are inside the asp.net create user wizard control.

<script type="text/javascript">
function addLoadEvent(func) {
  var oldonload = window.onload;
  if (typeof window.onload != 'function') {
    window.onload = func;
  } else {
    window.onload = function() {

function prepareInputsForHints() {
	var inputs = document.getElementsByTagName("TextBox");
	for (var i=0; i<inputs.length; i++){
		// test to see if the hint span exists first
		if (inputs[i].parentNode.getElementsByTagName("span")[0]) {
			// the span exists! on focus, show the hint
			inputs[i].onfocus = function () {
				this.parentNode.getElementsByTagName("span")[0].style.display = "inline";
			// when the cursor moves away from the field, hide the hint
			inputs[i].onblur = function () {
				this.parentNode.getElementsByTagName("span")[0].style.display = "none";

create user wizard login error message dont show in a message box?

i am using create user wizard and capturing other information within content template when a new user

registers. Some of the textboxes are binded to required field validators.

there is a validation control on the page and ShowMessage box is True.

If they dont complete some of the text boxes then the message box pops Up with the error message.

It does not however include information errors like "User already exists" or Email address already exists

from the create user wizard membership  UserName and Password Textboxes

is it possilbe to hook all of these up so I get one message box with all errors including membership ones?
