Accountexpire attribute help

Posted By:      Posted Date: May 22, 2011    Points: 0   Category :Windows Application

Good day to all,

     In my quest to perfecting the web app I'm developing, I was ask to make the web app update the "accountexpire" attribute.  I have try diferent forums and the solutions I find, either I don't get them because of my noob status or they just dont work.  My app can take diferent attributes and update them without problems (but later on I'm going to need some help to change how the app writes on the AD because I'm using a old method use here and is so long and confusing, and I bet there is a simpler method, but thats topic for another post) .  Since "accountexpire" uses a INT8 , atleast for me is hard to write for it.  I was thinking then to find something to convert a date into a Int8 number, the only one that I found in several web site is the one located in this link: http://info.izzy.org/Technical/Scripting/Lists/Snippets/DispForm.aspx?ID=2.

   When I copy paste the scrip, I get a "Wscript not declare" error. I'm developing in Vb 2008.  I can write on the attribute if I use a int8 (64bit) number. I know that the max value is 2^31 - 1 and this one in numbers is 9223372036854775807.  I know my app write it because i change the last 3 digits to 000 and when I refresh app to show the accountexpire attribute as it is on the AD it shows the change. Looking for some help..

Category attribute of user control property does not work correctly in categories tab.

I have a User Control (ascx) and a property which a want to display in my categories tab in Visual Studio in the category named "Styles".

[Category("Styles"), DefaultValue(""), Description("The value for formating something.")]
public String MyFormatProperty
set { /* the code for set */; }
get { /* the code for get */; }

And here is the problem: Actually I do not need a get, because I only have to set the property (write only property). But when I omit the get, the property is displayed in the "Misc" category in the categories tab in Visual Studio. Only when I code the get as well, then the property is displayed correctly in the "Styles" category in the categories tab in Visual Studio.

Does anybody know why? How can I display the category correctly only with set?

Thanks, S.

ReadOnly DateTime attribute stores correct date but only retrieves DateTime.MinValue on Delete

Hey everyone,

I have a dynamic data site that stores Event data using LINQ-to-SQL. When someone requests an event, it is first stored as a PendingEvent (which is a child of Event) with a column/attribute called receivedAt, which is [ReadOnly(true)] and which is assigned in InsertEvent as shown.

        partial void InsertEvent(Event instance)
            instance.requestedAt = DateTime.Now;

This works fine. The event displays with the correct receivedAt date, and it's correct in my database. It shows up just fine on my Display, Edit, and List pages. However, if I try to delete, the receivedAt in the instance (retrieved with my debugger) in my delete function is 01/01/0001 12:00am, also known as DateTime.MinValue. My other dates appear correct.

If I remove "ReadOnly(true)" from the received at, everything works fine. Why won't "ReadOnly" allow me to have a time?
Thanks in advance,

I forgot to mention why I care. I can't submit the instance to be deleted because DateTime.MinValue is outside SQL's available datetime, so I get a SQL error. The delete also takes place in a custom dele

what are the possible values for the UIHint attribute in DynamicData

All --

Please help.

I need to know-- what are the possible values for the UIHint attribute in DynamicData?

I am using DotNet 3.5 and VisualStudio 2008.

I know that I can use the name of each *.cs file in the "DynamicData\FieldTemplates\" folder BUT what other names are available?

For instance, in DynamicData Futures, I have seen UIHint[("IntegerSlider")] which I think comes from Ajax BUT there is no such FieldTemplate so where is it getting that resolution?

Please advise.

Thank you.

Custom Validation Attribute is not called by validation mechanism.

Hello everyone I have create custom validation attribute and assign it to class level validation. Unfortunately, it is not called. I try every way that it think it could be solve the problem. However, it take me for hours and I can't find the attribute is not called by validation mechanism.For illustrate you I put the following code.Attribute[AttributeUsage(AttributeTargets.Class, AllowMultiple = true, Inherited = true)] public sealed class BooleanDependencyAttribute : ValidationAttribute { private const string _defaultErrorMessage = "?????????{0}"; private readonly object _typeId = new object(); public string DependencyPropertyName { get; private set; } public string DependentPropertyName { get; private set; } public BooleanDependencyAttribute(string dependencyPropertyName, string dependentPropertyName) : base(_defaultErrorMessage) { DependencyPropertyName = dependencyPropertyName; DependentPropertyName = dependentPropertyName; } public override object TypeId { get { return _typeId; } } public override string FormatErrorMessage(string name) { return String.Format(CultureInfo.CurrentUICulture, ErrorMessageString,name); } public override bool

Store Attribute to string

Hello,I have been trying to store an xml attribute value to a string and I cannot seem to get it to work.  I start off pulling an XML node from a SharePoint web service. XmlNode user = usergrpService.GetUserInfo("domain\\user"); This seems to work because if I assign user.InnerXml to a text box then I can see the contents of the user.  So then I try to get the value.I have tried a combination of the following with /'s, @'s, User/ID, User@ID, /User/ID, /User@ID, etc.  String userID = user.Attributes["ID"].Value; String userID = user.SelectSingleNode("ID").Value; Each time I get an "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error.  If I can read the InnerXml then why can I not get a single attribute?-Eric

'Unspecified error' doing sp_xml_preparedocument on XML element with a long attribute

In SQL Management Studio 2008 (connected to SQL 2005 database), I get this:The XML parse error 0x80004005 occurred on line number 2, near the XML text "<item value="&#xD;&#xA;libname...Msg 6602, Level 16, State 2, Procedure sp_xml_preparedocument, Line 1The error description is 'Unspecified error'.When I do this declare @doc nvarchar(max), @idoc int set @doc = '<item value="&#xD;&#xA;libname..." />' EXEC sp_xml_preparedocument @idoc OUTPUT, @doc when the value of the @value attribute is actually a string of somewhat over 830000 characters.If I truncate the string somewhat, the statements execute successfully.Anyone know how to fix this?  (and "use shorter attributes" is not an acceptable answer :-)I would use XQuery except that I can't figure out how to get the equivalent of @mp:id and @mpparentid to give me the hierarchical structure information I need.  If anyone knows how to do that, I'd appreciate a hand there too!

Required attribute with resource definition uses wrong language

Hi all,I'm having a problem with a multilanguage application in MVC. On my model I'm using the following:[Required(ErrorMessageResourceType = typeof(VlanResources.Errors), ErrorMessageResourceName = "Common_NameRequired")] This takes care of validation... However the messages are always in the default language. Meaning that the setting of the culture of my thread is occuring too late (I'm currently setting it in my base controller 'OnActionExecuting'). Where could I patch in to change the culture accordingly before validation takes place?Thank you for your assistance,Ivan

Table-Layout attribute and MSDN claims re capabilities

I am developing a CompositeDataBoundControl that is basically a 'table' inside a 'div', in order to limit the size of the Control and use the scrolling capabilities of the 'div' tag ('RenderBeginTag("div"). So essentially the control is; <div style="overflow:auto;width:400px;height:300px;"> <table style="table-layout:fixed;">   My problem/question has to do with the capabilities claimed by MSDN of the CSS Attribute 'Table-Layout'. See; http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms531161(v=VS.85).aspx   One of the essential goals of my Control is to limit the width and height of 'Cells' (<td>'s) in the table and let the content be clipped.  MSDN says one can do this by setting the 'width' property of each Cell in the first row of the table. I have no problem with this and it works just fine.   My problem is that MSDN also claims that one can set the height property of each row and that any wrapping of text is 'clipped' and the row height is maintained. See Remarks section; "If the row height is specified, wrapped text is clipped when it exceeds the set height".  I can't make this happen. Any time whitespace occurs in the cell content, and the content exceeds the cell width, the content is wrapped to a new line and the row/cell height is adjusted automatically to fit all the content. In other words it appears that MSD
