Searching for "hidden" objects

Posted By:      Posted Date: May 22, 2011    Points: 0   Category :Windows Application

Hidden is probably the wrong term here but is there a way to formulate a search filter to return objects which are normally skipped? For example if I search from rootDSE for crossRef objects, none are returned. If I search cn=Partitions,CN=configuration, then the crossRef objects contained therein are returned. Assuming I have forgotten that they are in cn=Partitions,CN=configuration, how can I locate them searching from rootDSE? Similarly a search from rootDSE for objectCategory=configuration does not return CN=Configuration.

TIA, John

Searching a list of objects using 'and' and 'or'

I would like to allow the user to be able to perform searches on a large list of objects.  They will be able to search for keywords and use 'and' and 'or' operators.  I am having trouble finding the best way to implement those operators in my LINQ query.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

        GridView2.EditIndex = e.NewEditIndex;

 protected void GridView2_RowUpdating(object sender, GridViewUpdateEventArgs e)
        string id = GridView2.Rows[e.RowIndex].Cells[0].Text;

Tab container rendered with visibility:hidden - This was reported over three years ago.

Here is (more) code that demonstrates the issue.  If the control in the host page is removed the tab control renders correctly.  Otherwise it is rendered with the visibility attrubute set to hidden as reported in the above link.  Is this broken or am I doing something wrong?

Hidden variable has no value

I know I have a valid solution, but the js is telling me that the value in the hdnRecordSaved variable has no value!
Even when I specify in my function the following, it still tells me it has no value:
var myTextField = document.getElementById('hdnRecordSaved');

When I put the full value of the variable in (ctl00_ctl00_cphTopCenter_cphCenter_hdnRecordSaved.value), I get the correct contents back ("1"), which I set in my code behind. However, I would prefer to just put the short name in since the masterpages may change, etc. Unfortunately, I know I can get around this with VS2010, but we are using VS2008.

What am I doing wrong with the js naming conventions that can't give me the contents? Here is my below js.

<asp:Panel ID="pnlMapFields" runat="server" ScrollBars="Both" Height="430px">

<telerik:RadTreeView ID="RadTreeView1" runat="server" DataTextField="Description"

DataFieldParentID="MapFieldparentID" DataF

How to check for null/empty strings on dynamic objects?

What is the proper way to check for null or empty strings on dynamic objects? This is the only solution I've found so far:

if (admin.PasswordHash.GetType() == typeof(DBNull) || admin.PasswordHash == string.Empty)

If the field is null, the object returned is DBNull.Value, but if the field is empty string, it's return as a System.String object. This makes it impossible to do regular "admin.PasswordHash == DBNull.Value" check, as that will fail whenever the field has been set to empty string. Is my example the right (and only) way to go?

how to serialize objects ??

Is there any way or process to serialize the the objects?? i am trying to store the instance of few control in viewstate but it shows error msg that it is not a serialized object. should i perform some steps to serialize the objects ???
