Creating a Website With Plugin Architecture

Posted By:      Posted Date: May 22, 2011    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Hi guys,

Just want to throw an idea out there and get people's opinions.

I work for a company that hosts many websites that al share common code.

What I would like to do is to create a super admin panel for my company, so that when I create new features, it would be available to all of the websites for me to say "Yes, company xyz has paid for this feature, so they can have access to it, but company abc has not paid for it, so they can't have it", via a bunch of checkboxes for example.

I realize it's quite a broad question, but generally speaking, how could I achieve something like this?

 Hello mates,

I am hosting my ASP.NET application on a Windows 2003 Server.

To browse to my application one has to type the path :http://serverName/applicationName

I want users to only type  applicationName on the web adress area.I believe there is something to do with alias and CNAME on DNS records that can adress this.

Any help on how to go about doing this will be highly appreciated.

creating different sub page design template in sharepoint website

I know very little about sharepoint and have outsourced the design of a master page and sub page design for a new website using sharepoint. i received a site master file with all of the necessary images and the home page works just fine. However the file i received for the sub page design template was an ASPX file with the following instructions:

Here I enclosed the inner page layout file. You upload this file by using following instructions. you can change & edit the blue menu section in the master page itself. If I change into modifiable section you need to add the menu in each and every page, otherwise it will show as empty block. Please let me know your comments.

Steps for uploading inner page layout page.

1.Select the Site Actions button and click on Site Settings->Modify All site settings

Creating Website for app causes login authenticaiton not to work

I have an ASP.NET application that uses the security created by an aspnetdb database.   The application works OK when it is running under the default web of IIS.   But I am working with my Network group and we are trying to create a simpler url for the application.  The network group asked that I create a Website for the application.  I did this in IIS 6.0 and I have the website point at the folder where the application resides.   But now the login dialog does not work right.  When I try to login using the new Website that application gives off an message that the password or login is incorrect.  This seems to be a configuration problem with the new website.  Perhaps that authentication database does not match the application name correctly.   How can I configure this new website so that the login dialog works OK.  It still works when I run the application from the old web located under the Default Web Site.  Any suggestions.

Thanks in advance,  Ed

Architecture Tools in VSTS 2010

Designing new functionality on existing applications can be daunting. There are always differences between the original design and the current implementation.

The new Architecture tools within Visual Studio Team System 2010 help you understand the application you have, design new functionality you need, and validate that your design and your implementation do not deviate.

SharePoint Tutorial - SharePoint Logical Architecture

The SharePoint logical architecure consists of nested and isolated levels. These levels provide benefits for security, navigation, search, branding and ect. depending on the level

SharePoint Farm
The base level for any SharePoint implementation is the SharePoint farm. Physically a farm can consist of one server or many servers. An organization may implement one or more farms. This usually depends on security and performance needs.

SharePoint Tutorial -SharePoint Physical Architecture

The SharePoint physical architecture consists of services running on one or more servers.

There are three types of services that together run the SharePoint farm: web, application and database services. Web services through Internet Information Server is what processes the ASP.Net and sends back the html to a user's browser. Application services is where the "brains" of SharePoint are located. All of the SharePoint specific logic and services are processed there. Database services are run by SQL Server and it's where all the data/content for SharePoint is stored.

Creating your SharePoint Governance Plan

One of the most common questions that I get from prospects as I'm talking to them about the creation of a governance plan and process is what does it look like. In other words, there are materials available which describe what should be in a governance plan but there isn't a ton of guidance on what the process of creating a governance plan and process are.

Developing GridView Plugin With JQuery

There are many times when writing an application need to display data in a table. Most of the time a simple HTML table styled with CSS is enough but occasionally want a bit more. Today we'll look at designing a plugin for jQuery that will add some advanced features such as row selection and sorting.

ASP.NET Repeater Combined with jQuery FAQ Plugin Demo

The plugin is really straight forward. You just have to add your FAQ items in a header element such as an h2 and content sections in spans. This could be done in a pure HTML page or the FAQ items and content could be pulled from a database or XML file like I did in the download. Once the markup is built, the plugin does the rest. It will hide the content sections, add click events to the headers to open and close the content sections, toggle the plus/minus symbols and build the index shown on the right if you want.

Creating Paging for a Repeater Control

A common question is "How do I implement paging within a Repeater?" Although the beauty of the Repeater control is its flexibility, you're on your own for building most functions. ASP.NET 2.0 has included some new controls that provide paging, as does the DataGrid in ASP.NET 1.1. However, this tip shows you how to roll your own paging for a simple data viewer.

Creating an AJAX Repeater in ASP.NET MVC

The "TaskList" is a tried an true example of the most basic thing that you can do in any framework. Unfortunately, I had some problems finding a really good example of all the steps necessary to get a task list to work in ASP.NET MVC 1.0.

Creating a Generic Entity Framework 4.0 Repository

With .NET 4.0 right around the corner, I thought it would be cool to download Visual Studio 2010 beta 2 and start playing around with the next release of Entity Framework.

The initial release of Entity Framework came with a great deal of criticism. To make matters worse, there was a large uproar when it was rumored that Microsoft would be abandoning LINQ to SQL, in favor of Entity Framework. This was because, at the time, many developers felt Entity Framework was an inferior technology to LINQ to SQL. To set things right, Microsoft proactively moved forward with improving Entity Framework, in time for the 4.0 release of the .NET Framework. This is good news because my initial impressions, so far, have been nothing but positive.
