Two tabs in a tab container can't access a sql datasource

Posted By:      Posted Date: May 22, 2011    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I have a pretty basic vb.net page.  I added a sql datasource on my page and a couple tab panels in my tab container.  Both panels need to access the sql datasoucre, but only the tab panel that has the sql datasource within it can actually get to that data.    How can I make a sqldatasource on my .aspx page "accessible" to dropdown lists on two different tabs?

Access the SQL Command Query Value Property from the OLEDB Container within a Script Task

Could not set a datasource to Schema Rowset Enumerator in Foreach Loop Container

Everytime I want set a datasource (also if I create a new one with an click on the drop down) I got the following error message from the container.

TITLE: For each schema rowset

The new connection, LocalHost.ReportServer, is not an OLE DB connection so it can not be used by the schema rowset enumerator and, therefore, will not be added to the connections list.

But if I generate a OLE DB connection manually it does not appear in the dropdown list of the container. Does anybody know what I have to do in that case?

Thanks, Nils

Access repeater's datasource

I am trying to get a value from a repeater's datasource. Here is my code:

Protected Sub Repeater1_ItemDataBound(ByVal sender As Object,

Access property of object as session variable as declarative datasource parameter value

I am storing a custom "Organisation" object as a session variable. One of the properties of  the Organisation object is "OrganisationID" (integer).

I have a DataSource that requires a parameter value to run, and I want to use a SessionParameter to populate this. In a previous version, I stored the OrganisationID directly as a session variable. In that case, I could easily access it like this:

<asp:SqlDataSource ID="SqlDataSource1" runat="server"
    SelectCommand="spGetUserJobList" SelectCommandType="StoredProcedure">
        <asp:SessionParameter Name="OrganisationID" SessionField="OrganisationID" Type="Int32" />

However, how do I now access the OrganisationID property of an "Organisation" type session variable (called "Organisation")?

 I have tried this, which does not seem to work:

<asp:SessionParameter Name="OrganisationID" SessionField="Organisation.OrganisationID" Type="Int32" />

Can't access Operations or Applications tabs from Central Admin WSS 3.0 SP 2

I have read all the related threads I could find without finding a solution.
Everything was working fine a couple of weeks ago.  Now no account can access the Operations or Applications tabs.   Credential prompt is received and credentials are not accepted.  Eventually we get "Error message 401.2.: Unauthorized: Logon failed due to server configuration. "

No one is aware of making any configuration changes (other than adding FBA users for a site collection which is still working fine), nor applying any Microsoft maintenance.

In case there was something incomplete from prior maintenance I decided to run "psconfig -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -wait -force".   It told me that the Search database is unaccessible.   If I could get to the Operations tab in Central Admin, I would just remove the search service and then recreate it.  At this point I don't know if this problem is related or just a weird coincidence.

The user sites are still working fine and I'd rather not disturb them, so does anyone have a suggestion as to how I can get the Central Admin functionality back without uninstalling and reinstalling

How can i access <%#Container.DataItem("WCPLink") %> in codebehind

Use an Access 2007 view query as a datasource in SharePoint

I have a legacy Access database with which I would like to display filtered data in SharePoint.  Specifically I would like to write an Access view query, and display the results of that query in a SharePoint page or list.

I cannot load the source table into SharePoint because it contains sensitive data.  Is there a way to display this query view in SharePoint without having to move the entire database into SharePoint or convert the Access backend to SQL Server?

Linq to Sql CompiledQuery container

Ok now let's go. Here is just a little trick but with some interesting patterns that could be useful in some other contexts not connected to Linq to Sql.

When using Linq expressions, like with Linq to Sql, translating the expression into something else (sql for example) is taking time and resources. Sometimes it's negligible, sometimes not...

Hide a repeater in ASP.NET C# if the DataSource contains no items?

I have an ASP.NET page that uses a repeater nested within another repeater to generate a listing of data. It's to the effect of the following:
In the (C#) code-behind I'm basically using LINQ to pull a listing of information from an XML document and bind that information to the first repeater.

Searching for the answer to this, it seems the method is to determine whether the data for the nested repeater is empty. If it is, then you set the visibility of the repeater to false.

MVC architecture in ASP.Net using C# and Microsoft Data Access Application block

The Model-View-Controller (MVC) pattern separates the modeling of the domain, the presentation, and the actions based on user input into three separate classes [Burbeck92]:

Model. The model manages the behavior and data of the application domain, responds to requests for information about its state (usually from the view), and responds to instructions to change state (usually from the controller).

View. The view manages the display of information.

Controller. The controller interprets the mouse and keyboard inputs from the user, informing the model and/or the view to change as appropriate.

Manually sorting and paging Gridview without using datasource control

Many a times while working with Gridview we want to work with the paging and sorting functionality without using any datasource control. Gridview is flexible enough to perform these tasks without the use of any datasource control and only a few lines of code.

Store and Display Images from MS Access Database Using C#

There is only the difference of coding syntax to stream the binary data of image content type to upload it into MS Access Database using C#/VB in ASP.Net 2.0

Namespaces required:-
using System.Data.OleDb;

OleDb is used to connect the web site forms with MS Access Database using Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0

ASP.Net Upload Image to MS Access Database

As you learnt from the previous articles to upload image to the SQL Database in ASP.Net 2.0 and stream that image into the memory to retrieve it from the database and display it on the web page. In this article you will learn how to upload images to the MS Access database in ASP.Net 2.0

First of all create an Access Database and place it in the App_Data folder of ASP.Net web site project. Then create a table "tblImg" with the following fields:

Tab container rendered with visibility:hidden - This was reported over three years ago.

Here is (more) code that demonstrates the issue.  If the control in the host page is removed the tab control renders correctly.  Otherwise it is rendered with the visibility attrubute set to hidden as reported in the above link.  Is this broken or am I doing something wrong?

Re-positioning an HTML container with javascript onresize with a Master page.

I have an HTML <div> container that I float to the right of a gridview.  When the browser window is maximized, it looks fine.  When minimized, the gridview positions below the floating container and most of the data is pushed off the bottom of the browser - you have to scroll down to see it.

If I position the floating container above the gridview it looks fine in a minimized window, but looks real bad when maximized.

What I want to do is use a javascript: onresize event to re-position the floating container up or down depending on the window.inner.width AND do it with a Master/Content page structure AND do it for only the one page where needed.

I can capture the onresize event and display the window dimensions but haven't figured-out how to do it with a Content page that still uses the Master page.  I think I'm having a very "thick" week...
