Add a link to the Details.aspx

Posted By:      Posted Date: May 22, 2011    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I'm using Entity Framework, VS2010, Net4 and I want to add a link to the Details.aspx page which uses the ID passed (in this case the field: ContentShtNum) to access a Report.aspx for that id\record. In the lower left bottom of Details.aspx there are typically to links: Edit Delete

I want to add a Print link that links to a Report.aspx page so it would look like Edit Delete Print

(what I have here doesn't work, I think I need some code behind)

Here's a portion of the details.aspx with link...

            <asp:FormView runat="server" ID="FormView1" DataSourceID="DetailsDataSource" OnItemDeleted="FormView1_ItemDeleted" RenderOuterTable="false">
                    <table id="detailsTable" class="DDDetailsTable" cellpadding="6">
                        <asp:DynamicEntity runat="server" />
                        <tr class="td">
                            <td colspan="2">
                                <asp:DynamicHyperLink runat="server" Action="Edit" Text="Edit" />
                                <asp:LinkButton runat="server" CommandName="Delete" Text="Delete"
                                    OnClientClick='return confirm("Are you sure you want to delete this item?");' />

How to NOT format the "ad details" in Showad.aspx ?

For most of my websites, I like the idea that text format is removed from ad details when it is displayed. Note that when we enter an ad, and then go back to edit it it, we still see our line feeds (paragraphs).  This leads me to believe that my ad text is going into the database just as I type it. Now I am going to use the classifieds started kit for a website which in actuality only has one user.  I would like the text in the ad details to appear just as we typed it in.   I believe that the answer lies in Showad.aspx or showad.aspx.vb      I have tried messing with line 172 in showad.aspx <asp:label id=descriptionlabel runat=server text= '<% #Eval (description) %>'  </asp:label>  All suggestions would be appreciated !

How Do I Fix Broken Link to DispForm.aspx?

Hi All,

I've done a bit of renaming of form pages under one of SharePoint lists, and have no discovered that instead of linking to DispForm.aspx, the picture library in question, now just links to the home page. My first reaction was to right-click the list in SharePoint Designer, and go "Properties". I then when to the "Supporting Files" tab, but it only allows you to specify the "New Document" and "Edit Document" forms. It doesn't have anywhere to set the "Display Form" page.

Can anyone tell me how I can link my picture library back to DispForm.aspx?

How to execute WebService asmx link from Default.aspx page link using HTTPRequest and HTTPResponse?

Hi Community

    I have spent a couple of days on this one.  I have an ASP.NET website that has Linkbuttons on
the Default.aspx page..  I added a WebService to the Website because later on the WebService will
subscribe to a Provider(Feed) of News, Sports and Weather and things like that.  So when a Linkbutton
on the Default.aspx page is clicked it will connect to the link in the WebService which will load the News,
Sports or Weather onto  the Default.aspx web page.

    The problem is I can't get the LinkButton to execute the Link in the WebService.  The link will call the page up
to where you see all of the Web References.  But then if you want to execute one of those references you
have to click its link and the Invoke button that will follow. My questioh is how can the link on my Default.aspx
page execute the link in the WebService.  Now I changed the LinkButton into an <a href> but I still can't execute
the link in the WebServices.  I always use www.Microsoft.com as the link when testing and I wasn't sure about the return type
so I put "void" for an HTTPRequest,  so below is the link from the Default.aspx web page and below that is he asm

How do I create an Upload.aspx link on the front page of my document library without the subsequent

I need to create an Upload.aspx link on the front page of my document library, rather than rely on the + Add Document link at the bottom of the list.

When I copy the URL of the Add Document link to my page or as a quick link it uploads the file, brings up the metadata form, but then asks the user to save the file on save.

Clicking on the + Add Document link does a clean upload without the reuest to save the file?

The link I create has the format "_Layouts/Upload.aspx?List={ABC123}&RootFolder=tFolder="

Is there some parameter to Upload.aspx? that I need to add?

Open custom aspx page as modal dialog from link

Here's what I'm trying to achieve. I got a url field in my list which contains a link to a custom aspx page I've created earlier. I've added the "&IsDlg=1" property to my url and I want to page to be opened as a modal dialog. However the page opens full window and not as a dialog at all.

Do I have to create a custom field? I've seen how to open a modal dialog with javascript, but my url field only accepts http://xxx aso so I'm screwed. Any help is very much appreciated.

Displaying Row Details Tooltip on GridView using JQuery

Continuing exploring JQuery! I decided to implement a feature to display some kind of details related to a row displayed on GridView. For example when displaying employees details on GridView some information might not fit in the GridView because it will make it huge and wide. These infomration can be diplayed as Tooltip. Or when you want to display a picture and some kind of formated text to be diplayed as tooltip when mouse hover on the image.

Code works on aspx but not ascx

Not sure which category to put this question in, so I will put it in here.

Just to give you an idea of the layout of my solution, I have the main project, along with 2 class libraries, BLL and DAL.  (Business Logic Layer and Data Access Layer)

The BLL refers to the DAL and the main project refers to the BLL.

I had a test website and the code worked fine, but the same code will not work on the real project. The only difference is that in the test project, the code was on an aspx code behind, whereas in the real project, it is an ascx code behind (Web User Control )

The code is:

Dim connectionString As String = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("ASPNETDBConnectionString").ConnectionString
        Dim recordEntry As New UserRecord(connectionString)
        recordEntry.UserName = "TestName"
        recordEntry.BMI = bMI
        recordEntry.BMR = bMR
        recordEntry.FTM = fTM
        recordEntry.TDEE = tDEE
        recordEntry.TodayDate = dateForToday

Dim connectionString As String = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("ASPNETDBConnectionString").ConnectionString

Create an API (aspx vs mvc)

Hi everybody!

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, so, sorry if it's not. I have to create a web application. I can handle that. But, it has a requirement I've never done before. I need to create an API for that application, so other apps can get or set information from/to my webapp.

I've been searching a lot and still don't have a starting point. Seems that MVC is really good to do that, but I'm not familiar with MVC, so I would need a starting point. I was thinking to do it in aspx (Framework 4), but do not know how to do that with aspx either.

Can anyone help me to get started with this?

Thanks in advance

Launch CMD File From ASPX Page

My organization uses a CMD file to install updated files for a major enterprise application. Currently, we send out an email to users with a link to the file and instructions to run it, BUT inevitably users don't update their machines until their in field and try to start the app.

We're now liking the idea of using an ASPX page to prompt the users to run the updates and to capture the fact that the updates have been run. I realize that we can't capture the success or failure of the update. But we'd like to capture the user accessed the page.

Is it possible to embed into the markup for the page a link to the file on the local intranet that the users can click on to run the file?

The user accessing the page would capture that they did just that. We'd deal with wether or not the update was actually installed or if it failed later with them directly.

Custom views on .aspx webpage

Hi again, i have a client that needs me to create a custom view on thier webpage similar to Microsoft Word.

It goes about that, when I click on an image it redirects me to another page and must create a custom view for a certain paragraph on that page. I am not sure how to do this and wonder if anyone knows how.

I am using C# programming language if that helps at all. I Heard that using javascript would work but i dont know javascript yet so is there any alternative?

Visual Studio closes itself by opening aspx-Page designer after Windows Update

Hey Guys,

I've a problem with my Visual Studio.

On the 13th of August 2010 i installed a Windows update on my vista sp2 pc. For this date my Visual Studio 2008 sp 1 always has closed itself by opening an aspx-page in designer view. There is no error message just closing the window. I restored a backup of my windows from the time before updating it and it helped, i could open aspx pages in the design view till the update has been installed again automatically after rebooting the pc. I can't disable windows updates, cause it's my pc at work and safety is very important. I hope you could help me out of this disaster.
