Scrollable div with drag handle

Posted By:      Posted Date: May 22, 2011    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I dont know Css at all I have a page someone created and is no longer with the company.  It had a dragable div but the div was huge.  I looked on the net to try and find how to make it scrollable.  I got that done, but when i tried to make the div smaller (there are so many i dont know what to change where) I got it smaller but the div it is inside now shows up at the bottom and the side so if i set its background to red and i scroll past the data i see this red background.  Same if i scroll too far to the right.  I makes it look really cheesy even if the back color isnt read.  I have tried 2 days tring to fix and at my last wits.  I need this fixed by monday or im dead.  I have other things to work on this weekend as well.  Any help is greatly appreciated.  I will be checking and responding to this thread as often as i can.  Below is the Stlye and the html.  Sorry i cant provide data.  Please help :(

Reorder List Control Drag Handle

I'm using a reorderlist (Ajax Control Toolkit Release 4.1.40412.2) inside a scrolling div  (class="reorderListDemo" style="overflow:scroll; height:225px; width:1300px; table-layout:fixed; text-align:left;"). When the height of the reorderlist is greater than the height of the div, the div will automatically have a vertical scrollbar. The problem is that when i scroll down to drag an item  from the bottom of the reorderlist, the reorderlist does not work properly. The drag image and the drop target does not correspond to the item i want to move.

I've attached a copy of my css file:

.modalBackground {

.popupMenu {

.popupHover {

.dragHandle {
	border:outset thin white;

.reorderListDemo li {

Scrollable GridView with fixed headers in asp.net C# vb.net

In this example i am going to show how to create scrollable GridView with fixed headers which don''t get scrolled with records and stay on the top in asp.net using css, I''ve tested this code on IE7 and Firefox 2.0 , 3.5.

For this we need to add css to headers of gridview to keep them on the top.

First of all place a Panel on the aspx page from thetoolbox. Set height to 200px and width to 200px
and scrollbars to Vertical.
Now add a gridview inside this Panel and set the datasource to populate gridview.

ASP.NET: Web Forms Let You Drag And Drop Your Way To Powerful Web Apps

Web Forms have the potential to change Web programming by introducing a new programming model built around server-side controls-a model in which controls render their own UIs by generating HTML to return to clients and firing events that are handled by server-side scripts. Since all the action takes place on the Web server, virtually any browser can run a Web Forms app. And thanks to Visual Studio .NET, building a Web Forms app is a lot like using Visual Basic: just drop a control onto a form then write an event handler. This article describes the Web Forms programming model, how it fits with ASP.NET, and introduces DataGrid, TextBox, and other classes in the .NET Framework class library.

COM: Handle Late-bound Events within Visual Basic Using an ATL Bridge

Since a Visual Basic client doesn't handle events directly from late-bound COM objects, it needs some way to capture all the events and parameters launched by any COM object server instantiated at runtime and not known at design time. This article explains how to build a bridge component that does just that. The bridge component transmits the intercepted event data back to the Visual Basic client using another supporting COM object that is capable of holding event data and attributes. The Visual Basic client receives the notification from the bridge and extracts all the information relative to the event from the supporting object.

Scott Howlett and Jeff Dunmall: Drag and Drop Data Manipulation Powered by XML

Building on the browser-based org chart featuring VML (Vector Markup Language) described previously in Microsoft Internet Developer, this article takes you through the process of refining that sample app by using XML, XSL, and JScript code to create a new, improved version. Drag and drop editing is added to the org chart interface thanks to built-in support found in Internet Explorer 5.0. XML and JScript allow data manipulated on the screen to be saved back to the server in its native format. The final product of this combination of XML, XSL, and VML is a high performance, scalable Internet app that uses processing on the client to reduce stress for the server.

How to handle Active and inactive items in the dropdownlist?

It is a general ASP.NET questions. Many times some items in dropdownlist will become inactive (retired)or active again. It is easy to handle in the new records which use only currently active items. But how to handle the inactive items which need to be used to show history records. It bothered me a long time, not sure how to solve this problem efficiently.

Multiple forms on the same page MVC2: how to handle (including validation from model)

It should be simple; although I'm having a hard time to figure out the best way to do it. I've MVC2 pages with multiple forms on the same page having different functionalities.

What's the best way to handle this; including the MVC2 way of validation from the model?

Listview - Drag and Drop?

Hey everyone, I have a treeview and a listview on my ASP.NET application. However, with treeview I can drag and drop it to where ever I want it on my page. I tried this with listview, but it wouldn't let me. Listview automatically positions itself along the left side of my application. What I'm wanting to do is put my treeview along the right side and then put my treeview along the left side of the application. Any ideas on why I can't do this or suggestions on how I might be able to do this?

By the way, I'm running Visual Studio 2010 and using .NET FRAMEWORK 4.
