unable to reference extender assembly ajaxcontroltoolkit

Posted By:      Posted Date: May 22, 2011    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I have been using ajax extenders in a large web-based app without a hitch until tonite.  When I went to add an extender to a new web form, received the error message: "unable to reference extender assembly ajaxcontroltoolkit, Version = 4.1.50401.0,culture=neutral, public key token = (16 character key which I'm not including)"

If I run the app, all existing forms with extenders function as always....but I cannot add extenders to any existing or new form.

I don't have a clue what happened as I was creating forms and adding extenders last nite, but can't now.

Can anybody suggest a solution?

Registering controls of current assembly object reference NOT set error

Hi There,

I have created a simple ASP.net Web Application (2.0) and have added a web user control.

Now in my page I have added this control but I have registered like this,

<%@ Register Assembly="WebApplication1" Namespace="WebApplication1" TagPrefix="Custom" %>

Which means I want to access all the controls in my current Web Application project

Then I have added my user control like this,

<Custom:MyUserControl ID="MyUserControl1" runat="server" PublicProperty="Hello" />

Every thing is fine but when I execute the project, NO control on my user control gets "instantiated" and thus I receive error "Object Reference Not Set"

Note that My Control has,

1) Public property PublicProperty as String

2) 1 Label control

In Load Event Handler I am setting Text property of Label Control to PublicProperty. Here object reference NOT set error occurs (which means Label control is NOT initialized).

I don't want to register my control using Src, TagPrefix etc. Any ideas?

The type 'DataGrid' was not found. Verify that you are not missing an assembly reference and that

Hi; I'm new to WPF and I was going through the ExpenseIt tutorial on MSDN's website. The tutorial was working fine until I added DataGrid. I got the error message: "The type 'DataGrid' was not found. Verify that you are not missing an assembly reference and that all referenced assemblies have been built."     I could not find a clear answer online of which assembly references to fix and how to fix them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!     Note: I'm running the following: Windows Vista 32-bit operating system Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Version 9.0.30729.1 SP Microsoft .NET Framework Version 3.5 SP1

Reference a assembly compiled against .NET 4 CLR from a .NET 2 CLR

Hi, I just read this aricle http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/ee819091.aspx. In Figure 2 (Will These Runtimes Load in the Same Process?) You can read that it is OK to load an assembly compiled against .NET 4 CLR from an application compiled against .NET 2 CLR. But later in the aricle under "Library Developers and Consumers " you can read that it will not work for libraries. I have a web application (ASP.NET) compiled against .NET 2 CLR that needs to reference an assembly compiled against .NET 4 CLR. Will this work or not? I have tried it several times and it works fine. I don't understand the text in the aricle becase Figure 2 says it's OK but the text under "Library Developers" says it will not be OK. But for me it works. Maybe I have just had luck?

VS 2010 Isolated Shell, WPF Designer & Custom Controls produces some assembly reference errors

Hello, i currently try to use the VS 2010 isolated shell for providing a custom WPF editor. As described in the headline the WPF designer is 'partly' not able to find all assemblies (details below). After some research the only similar problem description i found here . Unfortunately I could not find any solution for my problem there. These are the steps i have successfully finished: - create a vs isolated shell application with some basic extensions (some tool windows) - create a Custom Project template based upon the MPFProj project (as describe at: here ) - Add the needed reference for custom control in project template - Create and edit XAML markup (no code behind, only markup) - Compile and run XAML Now, the following problem occurred (as a step by step description): - I add a custom control to the toolbox using the context menu "Choose Items..." (ok ) - I drag this custom control from the toolbox into the WPF designer view (ok ) - The custom control is rendered correctly and no assembly reference errors occurred (ok ) - I hit the F5 button in order to execute the XAML markup -> The application is starting correct and looks as exspected (ok ) - I close the running application (window) -> Now the WPF designer view seems to refresh and 'tells' me that an assembly (the one of the custom control) could not be found (error!!! ): There error text is: "Th

Could not load file or assembly 'AjaxControlToolkit' or one of its dependencies. There is not enough space on the disk. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070070) I had this error on one of my websites today, I've done some searching trying to figure out what might have caused this error. The server is fine and it does not seem to be a disk space issue. I fixed the problem by copying my back-up file over the website on the server and it works fine now. I read mabey it has something to do with the ajaxcontroltoolkit.dll file? I just wont to try to pin-point the problem so it dosen't happen again, or on any of my other sites. Any ideas or suggestions on what might be the problem or what to check?  Thanks! DA

"Assembly '...' Was Not Found" When including a reference to a local namespace

I've got a WPF application with a window and a usercontrol:   Window:   <Window x:Class="UI.Windows.Main" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:local="clr-namespace:UI.Windows.Documents" Title="Window1" Height="600" Width="800"> <DockPanel> <!-- Snip --> </DockPanel> </Window>     UserControl:   <UserControl x:Class="UI.Windows.Documents.MyDisplay" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x=http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml> <Grid> <!-- Snip --> </Grid> </UserControl>       Now, when I try to look at this in the designer i get an error saying Assembly 'UI' was not found.  I've searched high and low, but the internet is full of references to this being a 2005 issue and the solution is to upgrade to 2008.  I'm already using 2008 (don't even have 2005 installed on the machine), and I still get the problem.

Unable to reference custom XSL files in a custom ContentQuery WebPart

I'm doing a custom ContentQuery WebPart but i'm having difficulties referencing my XSL styles. I've googled a bit and tried to store the custom XSL files in the /Style Library/XSL Style Sheets/ and referencing them like this

<property name="MainXslLink" type="string" >/Style Library/XSL Style Sheets/CQWebPartMain.xsl</property>

and since i read SharePoint might have not be able to use SiteCollection relative urls i tried this:

<property name="MainXslLink" type="string" >http://my-dev-site/Style Library/XSL Style Sheets/CQWebPartMain.xsl</property>

and my first approach was:

<property name="MainXslLink" type="string" >/UIResources/CQWebPartMain.xsl</property>

How to reference specific version of a GAC assembly

I've got an VS 2005 C# application that references 3 assemblies in the GAC. These 3 assemblies are part of a framework we built and are versioned We're now rebuilding the VS 2005 application. Part of that involved some upgrades to the framework who's assemblies are in the GAC. I rebuilt the framework assemblies with the changes using version and put those in the GAC on my development machine. So now I have both version and version in the GAC. When I try to run the VS 2005 project from the debugger, I get a runtime error complaining that one of my classes is violating a generic constraint of one of the framework's generic collection types. My type is correct so this was a version issue. I changed my references to my framework assemblies to Specific Version = true and verified they're referencing but it still gets the error. If I remove the assemblies from the GAC, it works again.

Can I have both in the GAC and reference the specific versions?
