Validation on data type

Posted By:      Posted Date: May 22, 2011    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I am trying to realize valition on datatype. I have used DataAnnotations, but for data type it's not showing customized message

 for example when I' am trying enter string data into int typed field. How I can customize messages in this case?

Declaration of validation.

public partial class GPS_Mark { }

public class MarkValidation {
 [DataType(DataType.Currency, ErrorMessage = "This field should be numeric")]
 public int MarkE{ get; set; }

It's my view

<div class="editor-label">
 <div class="editor-field">
   @Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.MarkE)

When user would enter into this field somethihg like: adsf

He would see: "The field MarkE must be a number", not my "This field should be numeric". The mean the same but I need show costumized

[Range(-15, 15, ErrorMessage = "Enter digit")]

also not helped

SSIS User Defined Data Type (Alias Data Types) and OLE DB Command validation

Hello everyone, I've been having an issue with trying to run my SSIS package on a server, and it seems to be failing on the OLE DB Command step.  What we have in our SQL 2005 DB, is a User-Defined Data Type (base type char(7)) and the OLE DB Command is supposed to call a proc that passes in a value of this data type. ie:  CREATE PROCEDURE myProcedure ( @passedInFromSSIS MY_DATATYPE ) AS .... In my SSIS package, I have the type defined as DT_STR with a length of 7.  Now, when I run the package locally (via Visual Studio), the process runs with success.  However, once the package is deployed on a server and run from an application (note: it is run under a different user), the process fails on a validation step with a "Invalid Parameter Number" error. Now, if I change the input parameter in my proc to the base type of the user-defined data type, the process works again. Has anybody run into a similar issue or know what may be causing this issue?  I first suspected perhaps I needed to grant permissions on the user-defined data type (since I was able to run it under my security context, but not under the application's), however noticed that there isn't security tied to the types.  Any other thoughts?  Please let me know if you need further explanation.  Thanks!

This is frustrating, and I don't know how to solve it.

I have a strange problem. I am adding a LinqDatasource object, and set the context:

        protected void LinqDataSource_ContextCreating(object sender, LinqDataSourceContextEventArgs e)
            e.ObjectInstance = new KaruselaDataContext(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["ConnectionString"].ConnectionString);

Then I get this error:
The type 'System.Data.Linq.DataContext' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'System.Data.Linq, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'.

On web.config I already have this:
<add assembly="System.Data.Linq, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089"/>

NOTE: The datacontext is in a different project (DLL proect) where I added a refernce to System.Data.Linq.

is there another way adding a refernce to a web project? or only though teh web.config?

XML in Yukon: New Version Showcases Native XML Type and Advanced Data Handling

The next version of Microsoft SQL Server, code-named "Yukon," represents quite a few steps forward in the evolution of XML integration. Yukon supports native storage of XML data using the XML data type, which makes it possible to run native queries on XML data using the emerging industry standard XQuery language. Data integrity of the XML data type can be enforced through schema validation and XML-based check constraints, and special indexes can be defined that help speed up queries. In addition, Yukon has the built-in ability to expose its data through Web services. This article discusses these and other XML features of Yukon.

WSS 3.0 Content Type - Lost data for Titles

We are running WSS 3.0 SP2 on server 2003.  Recently, we lost the "Titles" for all content types for documents.  Our system Content Type for Document is set up to require this field to be completed on all documents that is uploaded.  Our system would automatically enter in by default the name of the document in the "Title" field it no longer does this for the user.  The user must now enter in manually the "Title".  How do I get it to enter in the "Title" using the document file name automatically?

Below is the way the setting page for Site Content Type: Document looks like.  (I tried to recreate it since I could place a screen shot in the box)

Data validation for datetime parameter in SSRS

Hi,   I wanted to know more about validation of SSRS parameters. I have a simple report which has a parameter called startdate of DateTime datatype. The datetime parameter in SSRS takes manual input as well. So, the user can enter any junk value. I want to ensure that the input parameter is in correct format and I want to display an error msg when the format is incorrect. My report has the following VB code for validation:   Public Function Validate( ByVal startdate As String) As BooleanIf IsDate(startdate) = True Then Return TrueElse Return FalseEnd IfEnd Function   And my report has a textbox which has the expression property set to; =Code.Validate(Parameters!startdate.Value) the textbox on the report has to display if the entered date is valid or not.   But, when i enter an erroneous date, SSRS doesn't render the report and throws a generic error. This happens even before the code written for validating the parameter executes.   Also couldn't find a way to disable the manual input for the datetime parameter. Even that would solve the problem.   Another alternative was to make the startdate parameter as string, but i want the calendar control button to be provided for the user.

Errors in the back-end database access module. OLE DB reported an overflow of the data type for colu

Getting an error when processing a dimension, Errors in the back-end database access module. OLE DB reported an overflow of the data type for column 0. Errors in the OLAP storage engine: An error occurred while the 'xxxxxx' attribute of the 'Dim XXXXXX' dimension from the 'XXXXXXX' database was being processed. Content of this dimension is very similar to one that is processing no problem. The content of the dimension is one field only of type date.  The original content was imported through SSIS from a DB2 database on an iseries machine.  Thought a first the issue was because of the data contains some null values but the dimension the process OK also has some null  values.  The dimension that processes ok is also a single field of type date. Any help greatly appreciated, Roscoe

DataGrid ValidationRule or IDataErrorInfo validation code called multiple times for each data change

Following my enquiry regarding a problem in Datagrid validation, for which managing exceptions is apparently a problem, I tested the two other methods: using validation rules, or implementing the IDataErrorInfo interface. I ran into other problems there, more insidious this time. This has been done on Windows7 (32-bit), .NET 4.0.30319. 1) IDataErrorInfo When this interface is implemented, the this[string columnName] property is called four times for each modification: two times before the cell enters edit mode (with the old value in the corresponding property) two times when the new value has to be validated (with the new value) It strikes me as not really efficient, is there something wrong with my code? Here's the C# part: using System; using System.Windows; using System.Collections.ObjectModel; using System.ComponentModel; namespace DataGridTest2 { public partial class MainWindow : Window { ObservableCollection<User> users; public MainWindow() { InitializeComponent(); users = new ObservableCollection<User>() { new User { Name = "Teddy", Age = "2" }, new User { Name = "Avi", Age = "19" } }; datagrid.ItemsSource = users; datagrid.Focus(); } } public class User : INotifyPropertyChanged, IDataErrorInfo { string name; public string Name

Data Source View Gives incorrect Error--Different Data Type

Hi, I'm creating a report model (2008 R2).  I am trying to create a relationship between two tables.  One FKs to another--same name and type (tinyint) columns.  But the Data Source View editor doesn't allow this, giving the message "...source and destination column have different data types".  But the columns are the same types.  I ahd this once before  acouple of years ago and don't remember how I got around it. Does anyong have ideas?

Data Validation in a 3 tier application

Say you have a form  designed in  Silverlight(Front end)-Asp.NEt(business layer)-SQl(bakcend)Should data validation occur on all 3 layers or just the presentation layer or  a combination of the front end with the other 2  e.g. validating an email address? I'm trying to undestand as to why if data has been validated on the presentation  why further data validation would be necessary  especially if there would be large amounts of data being validated and this could potentially slow down database transactions?
