Business Contact Manager issue - Not opening 'new contact' form or any existing contacts.

I'm hoping someone can help with this issue, its rather urgent.

We use Business Contact Manager 2007 installed on Small Business Server 2008 using Windows 7 clients which integrate with Outlook 2010.

This has happened a couple times but each time has seemed to resolve itself, however it is not resolving itself this time. Whenever the user tries to create a new contact in Business Contact Manager nothing happens. The button preses but then the window doesn't appear. Same thing happens if they try to open an existing contact card in their address book for contact manager. The contact cards on their normal address book work fine.

Have double checked the share for the database is still ok and restarted the database and the exchnage service but they still cannot open any of the existing contacts or create new ones.

Happens on all the PC's in the office.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have turned on logging and can email the log if required.

Business Contact Manager 2010 Delete contact error

I have users getting an error when trying to delete a business contact or account.  "error converting data type int to smallint".  I know it is a sql error, but have been unable to find the field causing the problem.  You can make changes to the contact, just not delete it. Any ideas on how to fix this would be appreciated. Thanks.

Contact Selector - Form tab index is lost after selector resolves names on blur


I'm working with an InfoPath2007 form developed to be filled-out through the browser on a SharePoint 2007 site, and I'm testing using Internet Explorer 7.  It's a straight-forward form, with a number of text fields and two Contact Selector controls.

The issue I'm encountering is with the Contact Selector control, where if the actor only enters a partial name into the text-field and then TABs away from the control the form will perform its auto-postback to look-up and resolve the partial name (showing the name resolution dialog is necessary), and afterward the actor's cursor is focused on the next field in the form.  The actor can type text into the focused field, but any subsequent pressing of the TAB key returns the actor's focus to the browser's ADDRESS bar, which is incorrect as it should proceed to the next field in the form.  I understand that the Contact Selector needs to perform its postback to perform the name resolution (so that there is no way through the InfoPath form designer to disable postbacks for the control), but why does the browser not know how to continue the TAB order of the fields on the form even when a field has focus?

Best regex for email body on contact form?

I'm not sure the best way to do a regex for the body section of an email contact form.  I want to use the regex to prevent more than 150 characters from being entered.  I assume this is sufficient, I may need more.  I also want it to help guard against sql injection attacks. The more I think about it the more characters I can think of that should be allowed.  I want to allow punctuation since it's for an email and people should be using full sentences.  These are some other things that make sense to allow: " , ', : , ; , $ , . , ! , ? , - , _ , @ , & , ( , ). They cover situations when someone may put an email address or phone number in the body section for the email.  I also want to allow letters and numbers.    I'm not sure if it's best to allow the characters I mentioned or not allow characters that pose a potential threat.  I think allowing the ones I want is the best way, but I'm not sure.  Can someone please give an example and/or suggestions?  Are there other characters that should be allowed?  I don't have much yet: "^(?i)[a-z0-9\s]{1,150}$"

Contact Form Issues

I was hoping someone could assist with this issue I am experiencing.  I have a contact form on my ASP.net page.  Everything works great, but I keep getting blank messages sent to my email address.  It seems to be some sort of SPAM?  Could someone please tell me why this is happening, and what I would need to do to prevent it from happening in the future?

Automatically populating Contact Selector not working in Form Services

Hi,I'm currently working on a form where i wan't to automatically populate a contact selector control with a users manager. I've got the managers userid, called the ResolvePrincipal webservice provided by sharpoint, and set all the values in the contact selector with the correct values. When previewing it works perfectly however when i move the form to Form Services it won't work.I've tried setting it via rules: i.e. on the change of a textbox write the manager values to the contact selector.I've tried setting the default values of the contact selector to fields where i write the manager values.I've tried setting it through code i.e. SelectSingleNode() and SetValue() for each of the fields in the contact selector.All of which work fine in preview mode but will not work in Form Services, UNLESS the contact selector already has a user in it. So if the contact selector is blank it won't work, however as soon as i manually select a user then try using any of the previously mentioned methods of setting the control it works. While using code i get a nullreferenceexception which leads me to think that possibly when theres no user in the control the xml nodes representing the AccountId, DisplayName, AccountType don't exit???? TO throw another spanner in the works, on the very odd occasion it will work in Form Services as expected, after celebrating and trying again it returns

Contact Selector Failed in MOSS Workflow Modification Infopath Form

Issue with opening SharePoint library in Windows Explorer view

I am having trouble opening a document library in Windows Explorer view. The portal is MOSS 2007. I have installed Office 2007 and IE7 on my computer. The error that I get is
"Documents in this folder are not available. The folder may have been moved or deleted, or network problems may be preventing a connection to the server."

Error when opening Infopath Form


Background: Created an Infopath 2003 form with 2 views (1 as Read-Only View and another 1 for Submitting content) and published to a Sharepoint 2007 Library.

Working: When a user opens a new form it opens in submit view; once the form has been submitted, when the user tries to open again, the form opens in read-only view.

Error: 99% of the users do not face any issues, however when the the rest 1% of the users try to open a new form; they receive the following error and are unable to open the form.

Issue in Infopath 2007 browser form - cascading dropdown using owssvr.dll filter view


Referring the below link, I created a cascading dropdown. The parent dropdown has sharepoint list as datasource and the child dropdown has xml datasource that points to owssvr.dll filter view. The cascading drop down works fine in preview but throws error after publishing as admin approved form - "form cannot run the specified query" exception when trying to execute xml datasource i.e., when a value is selected in parent dropdown. The security is 'Full Trust". In the event viewer the error message states "401 unauthorised" for the user a/c. the xml data source is an approved udcx file and in central admin, have enabled cross domain for infopath service. I have tried different solution provided in tech forums but issue still exists. Not sure whether Im missing something. Can someone guide me in fixing this issue?

Switch views when opening a form depending on submit locations?



I would like to know it was possible to switch views when opening a form depending on where the form has been submitted.

I am submitting my form to library A and library B and want to be able to open it in view 1 in library A and in view 2 in library B.

Is there a way to set some url conditions in the open behavior rules?

Check-out issue when opening a document from a document library when a read-only copy is open

We have an issue when a user has a read-only copy of a document from SharePoint open and then tries to check-out and edit another copy of the document (i.e. from the document library) the checked out copy is not connected to the web server. For the user it will look the same they will make edits, save and then close, but when they do so the document is not updated in SharePoint - it may be saved locally in their SP drafts, but the user will think that they have lost their version. We then get the checked out to another user error and you have to discard changes to get the document working again. Steps to reproduce this issue: * click on the name of a office doc on a Document Library * Make sure "Read Only" is selected and click "ok" * Minimize open document * click on the same file on the Document Library * Make sure "check out and edit" is selected and the "Use my local drafts folder" checkbox is ticked. Select OK. * Edit document and press save. Changes are never saved back in SharePoint, they are only on the local draft. We are using MOSS with SP2. Clients are on Office 2003 and 2007 Is this normal behaviour? Is there anything that can be done to prevent this from happening?

Getting User_Name when opening a form


Hi Everyone:

Scenario on  MOSS with Infopath Form Services:

  1. Two libraries - Library 1 is a list and Library 2 is Infopath form library (browser base form)
  2. A workflow in Library 1 creates a item in Library 2 and pre-populates the form with some data from the list (this works perfectly)
  3. Also a  user can create a form directly in Library 2 (the form library)using the New button
  4. The form has a hidden field which captures UserName() and if User Name = another field in the form, the User can make a change, if it doens't match User can't change the data)


  1. When a user creates a new form in the library, the hidden field is correcty filled in with the logged on User.
  2. If they save, close and open the form, the field still shows logged in user
  3. BUT, if the form is created and saved in the form library by the workflow, and a user then opens the form from Library 2, the Username() blank.
  4. So, one a form is created by the worklflow and a user opens it after the fact, how do I capture the Logged in user who is opening it for the first or subsequent times?

Windows authentication login form issue


Hi guys,

I have an application that requires windows authentication to login, the problem is that every time an user logs in under IE and win XP, the username is pre filled with the IP address of the server as instance and the username. I need to replace the server ip with  XXXX instance name instead of doing this manually.

Could anyone pleas help me out with this one?

Time Dimension Enhancement with Business intelligence Issue

Hi all, I want to add a year over year growth using the BI wizard (Time diemsion enhancement) but when I try to add this enhancement via the wizard then this last one has the button next disabled with a waning that says   A time dimension is required to enable this functionality. Ensure that you have a dimension of type Time, that contains at least one hierarchy with a level flagged as a time period. Inspite of the fact that I added that time dimsension with one hierarchy Time hierarchy Calendar Year Calendar Semester Calendar Quarter Time Key(With namecolumn defined as a named calculation that repsents the day with this format  yyyy, dd mm ) Me personaly I have a doubt about the last condition of the warning (with a level flagged as a time period) but I dont know exactly 1. If my doubt is right 2. What shoud I do to enhance the cube in this context using the time dimension enhancement The complexity resides in the simplicity
