An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host

I get this message when I try to launch a report (.rdl) from Windows Sharepoint 2007.  I have followed the steps to integrate SQL 2005 SP2 with Sharepoint 2007.  I can launch the report by navigating to "http://server:880/reportserver/.."  I am using a shared datasource that I created within sharepoint.  Any help would be appreciated.

WCF issues sending large data - "An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host"

Hi Guys I have posted the following on www.asp.net but thought it might be productive posting here too.I have been pulling my hair out trying to fix an issue with sending data over WCF, I have read pretty much every THREAD on this forum regarding or similar to this issue without any successful solution.  I have a simple data object which has a [DataMember] with a data type of byte[]. I use this to send binary data from my web app as follows: Asp.net MVC website --> WCF Client (Has my Service References) --> My Services (MyServices.svc) --> Business/Data Tier Everything is being executed from within VS 2008 Pro.   Now I have successfully sent data up to 2.2MB, however it fails if i try and send a file such as 2.3MB or larger i get the following exceptions: General Exception Exception rethrown at [0]:    at System.Runtime.Remoting.Proxies.RealProxy.HandleReturnMessage(IMessage reqMsg, IMessage retMsg)   at System.Runtime.Remoting.Proxies.RealProxy.PrivateInvoke(MessageData& msgData, Int32 type)   at SoftApp.WCFClient.MyServiceReference.IMyService.Document_Save(DtoDocument dtoDocument, Int32 usercode)   at SoftApp.WCFClient.MyServiceReference.MyServiceClient.Document_Save(DtoDocument dtoDocument, Int32 usercode) in c:\dev\softapp\softapp.wcfclient\service references\myservicereference\refe

An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host

Hi

I would like some assistance with this. I have a distributed application that uses TCP .NET Remoting for communication between the server and client computers.

I am pretty sure the issue is network related because the application is currently running at multiple clients, it is running in instances where the UI on the client connects to the server over a TCP port over the internet. In this client's case, they have two sites in two different cities. The main site (where the server is located), the users connecting to the server are working fine. Even I can connect from my office if I connect via a VPN connection to their network. However, the other users from the other town, get the error "An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host" and their IT cannot seem to fix this.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

They've already done the following tests:
  • They can ping the server from the other site's computers
  • They can get an open connection when attempting a Telnet session
  • When using a sniffer to monitor the connection, they can see traffic flowing back and forth from the user machine to the server
  • On the firewall they have a

Framework 2.0 changes - TCP Provider, error: 0 - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the r

If you connect to a server and open a query in SQL Managment studio (2005) and looses connection and then regain the connection, when you try to run the query it gives me a "TCP Provider, error: 0 - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host."

This happens against both 2005 and 2000 servers.

If I re-run the query it works.

However, this happens in our VB.NET app as well for clients with Wireless connections.

So, something has changed in Framework 2.0 regarding this, does anyone know how to tell the client to not throw this error and just try connecting the server instead which will work?

The underlying connection was closed: Unable to connect to the remote server.

Hello,

I get this error message when i kick off my web service to run. It gathers survey feedback from a database via http soap. Recently i put in a proxy that is required for access to internet. The web service started to fail that day as well. Can anyone tell me how i could hard code the proxy that should be used by the web service? I found this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307220

and tried editing the machine.config file but that didn't fix my issue. Any Ideas?

Remoting: Managing the Lifetime of Remote .NET Objects with Leasing and Sponsorship

Leasing and sponsorship is the solution for managing the lifecycle of a remote object in .NET. Each object has a lease that prevents the local garbage collector from destroying it, and most distributed applications rely upon leasing. There are several ways in which objects and clients can extend the lease, including dedicated sponsor objects. In this article, the author explains leasing, shows how to configure it, and how it relates to the various remoting activation models. He then discusses design guidelines and options, along with their impact on throughput and performance. Additionally, he introduces a helper class used to automate the management of lease sponsors.

How to Establish a Remote Web Site Connection in SharePoint Designer 2007

I am modifying a SharePoint site and so far so good.  Some of the objects were created using Visual Studio 2008 (C#).  I was able to modify these objects and implement them on the targete machine without issue.  The final step is to implement the ASPX pages that were modified using SharePoint Designer 2007.  These are aspx pages that are used to modify items in lists.  All the pages involved in this upgrade are customized.  I need to upgrade the target site with the modified version of these pages.  My intent is to copy the code from the page in the source site and past it into the same page on the target site.  I tried using the Remote Web Site connection tool in SharePoint Designer 2007 but received the following error message:

"Unable to open 'https://(site address)'.  Server Error:  Could not find a Web server at 'website'.  Please check to make sure that the Web server name is valid and your proxy settings are set correctly.  If you are sure that everything is correct, the Web server may be temporarily out of service."

I am not sure how to first check to see if the Web Server is temporarily out of service.  I would appreciate your input on how to verify this.

Background information of target machine:  WinServer 2008, IIS 7, Sharepoint (MOSS2007), site on port 80

When I try to decrypt it in the remote site I get this error :

Hello Guys,         I am getting following exception while web service (ASMX) is returning the response. <!-- [if gte mso 10]> <mce:style> System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive.     <!-- [if gte mso 10]> <mce:style>                                                     InnterException (System.IO.Exception): "Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host."       I think either the Asp.net web server is closing the connection or the response is too long.   Following is my simple code.    1)   namespace JFA.IndiePay.BusinessAccess { public class VerTexProcessor { public DataSet ProcessVerTexForBatch(DataSet dsInputRequest) { DataSet dsResponse = new DataSet(); //Call vertex web service here. The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive

Hi All,   i have developed a web application to call WCF service (which is hosted in IIS) from client application using .Net 1.1 it works fine.   but i got an error "The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive." when the return object is getting complex.   i analysis the issue with different level of object complexity and i found it get failed for following structure.   eg:   ObjectA - outer object that has some primitive data types and the list of ObjectB ObjectB - this also contain some primitive data and list of ObjectC.   Hope you can understand the hierarchy (complexity) of the return object. This works up to 2nd level of object hierarchy.   Does anyone have idea about the solution for this exception?   Thanks in Advance Shazvi

I have a windows app connecting to a webservice.  In some situation(s) (haven't narrowed it down enough), I get the following exception: The underlying connection was closed: The connection was closed unexpectedly. When this exception is thrown, it is calling a method of a web reference. Now the situation that we experience this is on a laptop in the field that is using a WWAN connection in at least one location.  It works fine in the lab at the office.  Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?
