I am right clicking on my Database, going to Tasks, Mirror, once I click on that, my server properties come up and shows me the "General" section/page.  It is not showing me the Mirror page, why is that?

I am using SQL Server 2008 Standard Edition.

Service Applications not showing in services on server on 2nd server

I have installed a new sharepoint farm. I have added to the sharepoint farm a 2nd server. Everything is working fine for browsing sites via the NLB address. I have created some new service applications - including search and managed meta data.  These work fine on the first server.  They do not appear under services on service in central admin for the 2nd server and therefore cannot be started on that server.  I have also notices that the associated web services do not exist under the web services iis website on the 2nd server. Can anyone provide any guidance as to why the service applications and web services are not available upon the 2nd server? Thanks

SQL Server 2008 R2 Disk Usage report showing incorrect data file

When I go to ANY database (System, AdventureWorks*, user) in Managemant Studio, I right-click on the db, select Reports, select Standard Reports, and select Disk Usage.  The disk usage report shows the correct db on top, but always only shows AdventureWorks_Data.mdf when I expand Disk Space Used by Data Files section.  This happens to any db I try.  When I look at Database Properties/Files for that database, the logical and physical file names are correct.

Since the correct files appear in Database Properties/Files, I'm hoping it's just a bug in the report.  Same thing happens if I run a Disk Usage by Table report for ANY database,  The tables for AdventureWorks always only appear,

Thanks,  Mike

SSMS - Connect to Server dialog box - server history not showing

When I invoke SSMS, the "Connect to Sever" dialog box comes up.  Under the "Server Name" dropdown, it only displays a maximun of history entries (previously used connections/servers).  On other machines, it shows 10-15 previously used servers.

Does anyone know what I need to do or what needs to be configured on my machine to allow it to store my history entries?  If I connect to a new server, then one of the existing gets dropped off.  Just got tired of entering server names here...

Thank you very much.

Problem deploying custom report item. Items shows in preview screen in VS, but not in server deploye

I have developed a custom report item that works fine in design and preview mode while in Visual Studio. I cannot get it to show up on my deployed reports. Here's what I have done so far:

1. Deployed the report using Visual Studio

2. updated the rsreportserver.config file with the following entry:

      <ReportItem Name="PedigreeChart" Type="Uabr.Rap.PedigreeChart.PedigreeChartRenderer, Uabr.Rap.PedigreeChart" />

3. Updated the rssrvpolicy.config file with the following entry.

Description="This code group grants Uabr.Rap.PedigreeChart.dll FUllTrust permission. ">
                                Url="C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.3\Reporting Services\ReportServer\bin\Uabr.Rap.PedigreeChart.dll" />

I've also tried using the StrongNameMembershipCondition

Actually I was installing sharepoint server 2010 on my windows 7. Everything went fine and I configured it using the configuration manager.
But, when launching the site, it shows a blank white page and didn't run the site. So, I cannot connect to my localhost anymore.
I checked event viewer and got this:

The start address sts4://mysite:15959/contentdbid={8f44b370-235c-4a93-34-4b2234} cannot be crawled.

An exception occurred when trying to issue security token: The content type text/html; charset=utf-8 of the response message does not match the content type of the binding (application/soap+msbin1

Can you plz assist me with the solution?

Fails to run TRN backups on a principle server while the mirror server is offline

We have a DB mirror. We run a planned failover from one server to the other and everything worked fine. (including maintenance plan for backup of all types (Full, Diffrential, Log).

Yesterday we stopped the mirror server and everything was fine beside of that the backup log job (Maintenance plan) and another Maintenance plan job worked for all the time the mirror server was down (the jobs usually take 0.5- 5 minutes) and only when the mirror server was back on they finished with the following error:

Database 4 cannot be autostarted during server shutdown or startup

SQL Server Login Screen

I'm trying to improve a progam handed off to me.

It is an Excel spreadsheet that retrieves data from SQL Server 2005.  I have the connection string in VBA.

When the code is executed it displays the login screen.  All the user does, is select OK and the data is returned.

This "extra click" is driving the user crazy.  How do I bypass display of this screen?

SQL server 2005 cluster - second node - sql service will not start - node is showing down in cluster

I am tryng to get the second node in a two node cluster to start sql services and come up in the cluster.  The second node was configured and running in a cluster when at some point, the sql service and/or cluster service went down.  Now the node will not start...as in SQL service fails and the system log error is:

"The disk associated with cluster disk resource 'Disk Q:' could not be found. The expected signature of the disk was BF17D33C. If the disk was removed from the server cluster, the resource should be deleted. If the disk was replaced, the resource must be deleted and created again in order to bring the disk online. If the disk has not been removed or replaced, it may be inaccessible at this time because it is reserved by another server cluster node."

and the Application log shows:

Error 2(The system cannot find the file specified.) occurred while opening file 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\DATA\master.mdf' to obtain configuration information at startup. An invalid startup option might have caused the error. Verify your startup options, and correct or remove them if necessary.

I had to edit the startup parameters on the second node because it appears it cannot "see" the original path, which was a network driv

Licensing for database snapshot on the mirror database in Secondary Server.....

Hi guys

I am going to set up database mirroring for a database in SQL Server 2008 EE and use the mirror database for reporting users. Does any one what kind of licensing is required to created snap shot on the mirror database in the secondary server ?

I know we don't require licensing for the Mirror server unless we use the mirror server for some other purpose also .

But I want to use the snap shot of the mirror database what kind of licensing is required...does licensing means installation license....?

Any Ideas would be appreciated....

Installation Problem: 'Server Type Tab Not showing. Only File location shown

You cannot vote on your own post I am installing Sharepoint 2010 on WIndows server 2008 R2 64 bit machine. After entering 'product key' screen, it suppose to show Screen where 'server type' and 'File Location' tabs where we select 'Standalone/Server farm' then 'Complete/standalone'.

I have run the same setup on WIndows 7 OS and it does show up the screen having  options for 'Stand Alone/Server Farm'.

BUT on Windows 2008 R2, it does not. After entering product key next screen shows up having only  'File location' tab screen which also does not have 'Server Type" Tab.  This is killing me to proceed as I have to work with Power Pivot in Sharepoint integrated mode where its compulsary to select 'Server Farm' AND 'Complete' Options.

I as well ran prerequisteinstaller before running setup.exe. Prerequisiteinstaller completed succesfully. But setup.exe  has this weared problem. For workaround I tried from command prompt as well giving Cmd> Setup.exe /Config C:\SharePointsetup\Files\SetupFarm\config.xml.   BUT no change. Same issue screen does not showup with that options.
