Posted By:      Posted Date: April 14, 2011    Points: 0   Category :

I'm new to SQL customization and I'm currently trying to do a SLQ 2005 install using an INI file.  I'm trying to accomplish two things using the INI file.

1.  Install SQL Native client on drive D:

2.  Install SQL 2005 & all components on D:

Below is the syntax string for my INI file.  When excuted, the SQL Native client is installed in

C:\PROGRAMFILES\Microsoft SQL Server\100\SDK followed by a Windows Installer error screen after the SQL checcks are ran.

Any and all assistance would be appreciated.

INSTALLSQLDIR="D:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\"; "D:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\"; "D:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.2\OLAP\"; "D:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.3\RS\"
INSTALLSQLSHAREDDIR="D:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\DTS\"; "D:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Notification\"; "D:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\"

Unable to install SQL Server 2005 SP2 - Unable to install Windows Installer MSI File

I have been trying to figure out how to fix this problem for the past couple of days and I was unable to find an answer to my specific problem in the forum.My OS is Windows XP Professional SP3 on MacBook Pro, using Parallels Desktop 4.0. Every single time Windows update tries to install SQL Server 2005 SP2, it fails. I am using Business Contact Manager with Outlook 2007 and SQL Server stops randomly and I am forced to restart the software. I am not sure if it is relevant to this specific problem but I thought I would make a note of this.I have downloaded SP2 and tried to install it locally but that did not work. Here is the error message I get:OS Version: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 (Build 2600)Package Language: 1033 (ENU)Package Platform: x86Package SP Level: 2Package Version: 3042Command-line parameters specified:     /quiet     /allinstancesCluster Installation: No**********************************************************************************Prerequisites Check & StatusSQLSupport: Passed**********************************************************************************Products Detected                         Language  Level  Patch Level       Platform  EditionExpress Database Services (MSSMLBIZ)      ENU       SP1    2005.090.2047.00  x86       EXPRESS**********************************************************************************Products Disqua

Driving install of standard web install project from command-line

I have a VS project (web service) for which I created a standard VS Web Setup project.  That project creates the typical setup.exe and project.msi files.  When run interactively, the setup prompts the user to select an IIS Site, a Virtual directory and the Application Pool.  I'd like to drive this setup silently from a script, passing the necessary args on the command-line such that the user isn't prompted.  I've played some with the args in an attempt to set those three prompts using properties, but without luck. Can anyone tell me if there are public properies on the MSI that would allow me to set those prompts via the command-line?

Can't install SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition x64 from Command Line

I can't get R2 Express (x64) installed from the command line... x86 using this same command line works fine, just x64 is broken.

Using this:

Everytime it fails with:

2010-09-19 15:30:48 Slp: --SafeSqlCommand: ALTER DATABASE tempdb SET NEW_BROKER ALTER DATABASE msdb SET NEW_BROKER

This is a severe system-level error condition that threatens database integrity and must be corrected immediately. Complete a full database consistency check (DBCC CHECKDB). Install SQL Server 2008 x64 The INSTANCESHAREDWOWDIR command line value is not valid

My objective is to install SQL 2008 x64 on a brand new server running under Windows 2008.
VS 2008 and .NET 3.5 are installed and work fine.

I performed the following steps:

1.    Downloaded SQLFULL_X64_ENU.EXE from http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/bb851668.aspx
2.    Unpacked;
3.    run setup.exe as admin
4.    on SQL Server Installation Center: Installation | click "New SQL Server stand-alone"
5.    I didn't change the installation folder (grayed anyway)
6.    Followed the instructions. I selected Database Engine Services

I get the error message "The INSTANCESHAREDWOWDIR command line value is not valid".

I then tried to install with command prompt, with identical results:
For command prompt install I used the following bat file:

c:\users\public\downloads\mssql2008\setup.exe ^
-/Action=Install ^

I also tried to use setup100 (including the parameter /Timestamp) but I get the error message "the timestamp must be set before its first use".

I had my webapplication that I have been working on open and was able to bring up the sdf file under the server exploere however I can't seem to get anything out of it when I try to do grid views or detail views errors out.

Can I use one of Visual Studio projects to create this sort of applicaiton if so what would be the best approach. I would love to get an access odbc driver since office is allready installed on the employee's laptop's

Can Not load WPF project in Visual Studio 2005 on Win7 64 system, says "Project file not supported b

Dear all I am facing an issue in creating new wpf project or loading a WPF project in Visual studio 2005. I have installed Visual Studio 2005 Service pack - 1 (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=bb4a75ab-e2d4-4c96-b39d-37baf6b5b1dc&displaylang=en) but still I can not see the option for wpf project  while creating a new project. Generally we can see WPF listing under item File -->New-->Project--> ".Net Framework 3.0" in VS 2005. I have few WPF project and when i try to load them it says "Project file not supported by this Installation". My System Config is given below: OS: Windows 7 (64 Bit) VS: Visual Studio 2005 with Service Pack 1 .Net Framework: 3.5 (By default inbuilt in Win7 OS)   I am suspecting something bugging related to .Net framework 3.0 in Win7. We have one option in control panel to alter .NetFramework 3.5 under "Turn Windows Features on or Off" but there I can not see something related to 3.0 :-(.   Kindly suggest how can I load my existing project and how can enable option to create new wpf Projects.   I saw few solutions suggested by people on following Thread bt most of them related to Windows XP or Vista: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/vswpfdesigner/thread/06cf7bca-982c-44cf-aec9-99cf399b3000 Do someone has solution for Windows 7 (64 bit OS)

How do I install SQL Server 2005 JDBC driver

I'm an new bie to "SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver". I have downloaded SQL Server 2005 JDBC driver and extracted it to C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver\. Is the installation complete now? How can I use this driver from my application? If there is a step-by-step instruction on whether we need to run some scripts in SQL Server or to configure some system variables, it would be great. Unable to install SP3 on SQL 2005 due to Database Services language being blank

Hi all,   I have an issue that requires me to upgrade to a later SP (currently on RTM), but when I try to install SP3 Database Services cannot be ticked. Upon inspection I see that its reporting "This update requires language ENU.  The language for this product instance MSSQLSERVER is . Download the upadte for langage .", when I check teh Language field to the right it is blank, other parts however are fine and can be upgraded. Can you advise please as I don't know how to manually set the language (which is reported inside SQL itself as English (United Kingdom)) and I cannot un/reinstall. Thanks, John
