This article describes a simple Web site monitoring tool built with XML, JScript, Windows Script Host, and COM objects. Although it is not intended to replace complete Web site monitoring software products, it has many useful features that help to keep Web servers up and running. An XML configuration file specifies which Web sites to monitor and the actions to be taken if the site isn't functioning properly. In addition, the tool can be scheduled to run at any specified interval using the Windows Task Scheduler. Functions that probe the sites, log events, and send e-mail notifications are written in JScript.

I have an sql 2008 server with Windows 2008 R2 firewall on and the port 1433 and 1434 are open. When I run Activity Monitor from SQL studio remote I can't see all database activity but if I go local on the server I can, why is that ? Another port that should
be open or ?
We are having issue understanding the "Executions/Min" in the Recent Expensive Queries" section of Activity Monitor in SQL Server 2008.
Activity Monitor shows we have 189,411 execution of "insert into t_LiveChat_SessionIncludingNavigatingAndChat33497(visitorId, startTime, Ip, referrerUrl) values(@visitorId, @startTime, @Ip, @referrerUrl)" per minutes. However, if we use SQL Profile
to track all ""insert into t_LiveChat_SessionIncludingNavigatingAndChat33497(visitorId, startTime, Ip, referrerUrl) values(@visitorId, @startTime, @Ip, @referrerUrl)" in 2 minutes.
Also, I used the following SQL:
SELECT total_worker_time ,
total_worker_time / execution_count AS [Avg CPU Time] ,
total_logical_reads, total_logical_writes, total_physical_reads,total_elapsed_time, *,
CASE WHEN deqs.statement_start_offset = 0
AND deqs.statement_end_offset = -1
THEN '-- see objectText column--'
ELSE '-- query --' + CHAR(13) + CHAR(10)
+ SUBSTRING(execText.text, deqs.statement_start_offset / 2,
( ( CASE WHEN deqs.statement_end_offset = -1
We have a requirement to produce the replica of the SQl Server Agent Job Activity Monitor in a list view.We are aware that there are Sql Server Agent stored procedures to get it done. But the problem is that we are
not able to obtain columns like Runnable,Category from those stored procedures.
Is a stored procedure readily available for getting it done? Please help us in this regard.
When we remotely manage a SQL 2008 instance the Database column in Activity Monitor is Blank, but when connected directly it shows up. We do have one user where the database column dose populate but he cannot remember if he did something to fix/enable it
or not. These users are logging into this SQL server to get this info instead of managing remotely which I would like them to stop doing but I need to resolve this before they can since this info is critical.
I cannot imagine it is permission related since the column is blank for me as well and I have sysadmin rights over the instance.
If the responsibility for creating, managing, and executing routine backups is yours, these tools will make it easier. Also see how you can browse folders and files from inside Visual Studio.

It never fails. The application you just deployed ran great on your development machine-but stumbles in production. The problem might show up right away or maybe it creeps up over time. Now what?

Most data-driven Web sites are used as interfaces to collect, process, and summarize information. Reports that summarize the data can be presented to the user in a variety of formats-the most common way is to display the report directly in a Web page.
