Effectiveness of Third Party Tools To Edit SQL Server T-Log

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 14, 2011    Points: 0   Category :

We have a transaction log backup that was generated while the SQL Server Recovery Model was set to Bulk-Logged. We would like to recover to a point in time but are unable to since there is a bulk operation included in the log file.

There are a couple 3rd party tools available that say they can manipulate a backup of a transaction log. Has any one had success in using one of these to remove bulk operations from a log or is this even possible? The situation is not critical and it only affects one table so we don't want to take any chances on corrupting data.

BizTalk Server 2000: Architecture and Tools for Trading Partner Integration

This article provides an overview of the concepts involved with implementing a trading partner integration system on BizTalk Server 2000 and details the document interchange server architecture and toolset. Additionally, an early look was taken at some business process integration features planned for the production release of the product that allow easy design, execution and sharing of new business processes with trading partners. The concepts and architecture presented allow companies to prepare internal line-of-business applications and trading partners for systems that improve customer service and reduce operating costs.

Can't Uninstall SQL Server 2005 Express Tools

I am attempting to install SQL Server 2008 Enterprise Trial and receive the follow error during installation.

"The SQL Server 2005 Express Tools are installed. To continue, remove the SQL Server 2005 Express Tools."

I have used Add or Remove programs to remove all components of SQL Server 2005 Express.  I have even reinstalled the Workstation Tools of SQL Server 2005 just so I could indiviually remove those tools, and then completly removed the SQL 2005 installation.

I have used regedit to search for any instance of SQL Server 2005, there is none.

There is still an entry for SQL Server Mangement Express in my all programs listing.  However trying to launch that program fails with errors, so it is partial still installed.

Can anyone tell me how to wipe out these last bits of SQL Server 2005 Express Tools?  I have tried everything I have found searching this forum to no avail.

Install App that uses .NET Framework 4 and SQL Server 2008R2 Express (with Tools) - what .NET Framew

I am a little confused about how to install my application.  Written in C# using VS 2010 and targeted for the .NET 4 Framework.  It also uses a SQL Server 2008 R2 database.

In my installer I install .NET 4 Framework if not already present on the host machine.

For SQL Server 2008 R2 (with Tools) I understood I need Installer 4.5 and Powershell 1.0.  The install of install of 4.5 installer goes ok but requires a reboot.  The install of Powershell says it needs .NET Framework 2 SP2 - even tho' .NET 4 is installed.

I decide to ignore this and carry on so manually install SQL Server 2008 R2 Express (with Tools).  It unpacks and complains it needs .NET Framework 3.5 SP1!

My application has to deploy to a disconnected machine installed in the cab of a logging harvester so I can't rely on automatic wwindows updates.

To deploy my app with SQL Server 2008 R2 (with Tools) do I need ...

  • .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 and
  • .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and
  • .NET Framework 4

I had presumed all I would would be .NET Framework 4 since it is "mostly" backwardly compatible.

Install time and complexity is HUGE is I need all three Frameworks.

Can someone please clarify for me?

SharePoint / Project Server 2010 Unable to edit a HTTPS site in SharePoint designer 32 bit

I posted this thread below under a different forum and was requested to move.  Below is our current problem and the feedback that was given.

We currently have a project server 2010 site with several workspaces associated with it.  When trying to edit the site (either from choosing edit is designer from the site actions or from trying to open from within the designer) a dialog appears asking to choose a certificate for the site.domain.com.

The certificate issued by the site is a GeoTrust certificate and checks ok when browsing the site in IE.  This Windows security dialog also appears when trying to export to excel on the same site.

Any thoughts to what we are missing?

Installing SQL server 2005 client tools.

I searched on internet and documents, but could not find the steps to install only client utilities for SQL Server 2005. I need something like Query Analyzer and isql to connect to the database.
I selected client tools only after clicking setup.exe, but query analyzer and isql or Microsoft Server Management studio were not installed.
Any help will be useful.

Error - Installing SQL Server 2005 Client Tools

How can I go about this

Looking for Client Query Analyzer (SQL Server 2008) or Equivalent Reporting Tools

I've recently upgraded from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2008.  My accounting and marketing team is skilled and has been using SQL Query Analyzer for years to run smaller queries and build small Crystal Reports.  Unfortunately Query Analyzer is now bundled into the management studio.  That's a bit too much software for this level of power users.

Is there a client-side query analyzer for SQL Server 2008?  I'd rather use a Microsoft product than a 3rd party tool, but I suppose I could do that too.  Looking for something simple that will:

1.  Show users the database tables and/or views

2.  Run queries

Perhaps query analyzer isn't the way to go and my team needs a different reporting system.  If this is the way MS is heading, could you direct me towards a product or service that allows power users to get the information they need?  They will still need to look at raw data to build Crystal Reports though.

SQL Server Reporting Credentials work when I edit my DataSource but when I try to preview a report I

I have a 64-bit SQL Server 2008 SP1 installation with SSL enabled, Reporting Services, Analysis Services and Integration Services are all running.

When I go into Business Intelligence Studio (on a 32-bit Windows XP client) and create a DataSource it works fine when I click on "Test Connection" but when I try to use the same connection to run a report it fails with an error message of "Login failed for user sa".

I have saved the password so it isn't something as simple as that.

I am obviously using the "sa" user, not passing through Windows credentials, the password is definitely correct as if I make it wrong on purpose it doesn't work when I click on "Test Connection" any more.

I have tried the OLE-DB connection type and also the "Microsoft SQL Server" connection type, both show the same behaviour.

On the server I can see in the SQL Server logs, "login failed for sa user, password does not match" type errors; loads of them.

I can connect to SQL Server Management Studio using the same credentials and it is all fine.  So this is just a problem with SSRS.

This DOES work for some users.  I can save the project, load it on another PC and it works fine.  Getting the same user to log on to my PC doesn't help so it must be something about my PC??

SQL Server 2008 Installation fails when installing Management Tools option

After installing SQL Server 2008 successfully I went back to install the Management Tools option.  I get an error after most of it has completed...Interestingly enough it's actually there but given the failure I'm concerned about issues.  Can anyone help?

Here is the Summary File:
