need help about "Unable to connect to remote server." using HttpWebRequest

Hello friends
I am creating an application where I want to store an html page from one of my websites into another web site.
For the same purpose I am taking the url of the html pages
for example if I want to copy this page "http://mydomain.com/html/page1.html" then i take this url from a text box which user enters.

local pipes vs. network pipes (to connect to SQL Server)

Choosing a Network Protocol (SQL Server 2008 R2) tells: "It is also important to clarify if you are talking about local pipes or network pipes. If the server application is running locally on the computer that is running an instance of SQL Server, the local Named Pipes protocol is an option. Local named pipes runs in kernel mode and is very fast" Well, it is not me who is talking in cited article, I believe so. Should it be understood that "If the server application is running locally on the computer that is running an instance of SQL Server" and configuring/choosing Named Pipes mean running "local Named Pipes"?

SSRS 2008 - report manager: System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server

I have an instance of Reporting Services 2008 running on Windows 2003 server.  So, the webservice URL is running on port 801, and runs fine (I can browse reports from that directory, and upload / deploy new reports and overwrite existing reports. Report manager is set to use port 800 (IIS is also on that machine running port 80).  When I attempt to connect to report manager, I get the following error, with a link to "Home" in report manager (which brings me back to the existing error page):    Unable to connect to the remote server  In the logfiles for reporting services, the following error is there: " System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.   Any ideas? Windows Firewall is NOT running on this machine.   Thanks, Chrisrjp

Enumerating used and available network ports on remote server

I am working on a setting up a web app, using C# and .Net, to setup/manage an internally deployed product. Part of this requires adding new instances and configuring them which means knowing if a port is available on the remote server.

I've done a bit of searching and can't seem to find a way to do this on a remote system. I could find ways to do it locally which if that is the only way then I may end up doing a localized service to have the web app talk to instead but I wanted to check if there was a way to get this info remotely.

Thanks,
J

C# connect SQL server 2008 window authentication on workgroup

We have an application winform C# that connects to sql server 2008 with window authentication impersonation.
We need window authentication because of filestream requirement (we did not find other solution).

The application works fine in domain environnement. Our msi create same user on each computer and we use it to access to remote database.

But a lot of our customer are littre company (1 to 10 employees), they are in workgroup configuration, it is impossible to migrate them on domain environment.

We tried to impersonate but it doesn't works in workgroups :

public void Impersonate(string userName, string domainName, string password, LogonType logonType, LogonProvider logonProvider)
  {
   UndoImpersonation();

   IntPtr logonToken = IntPtr.Zero;
   IntPtr logonTokenDuplicate = IntPtr.Zero;
   try
   {
	// revert to the application pool identity, saving the identity of the current requestor
	_wic = WindowsIdentity.Impersonate(IntPtr.Zero);

	// do logon & impersonate
	if (Win32NativeMethods.LogonUser(userName,
		domainName,
		password,
		(int)logonType,
		(int)logonProvider,
		ref logonToken) != 0)
	{
	 if (Win32NativeMethods.DuplicateToken(logonToken, (int)ImpersonationLevel.SecurityImpersonation, ref logonTokenDuplicate) != 0)
	 {
	  var wi = new WindowsIdentity(logonTokenDuplicate);
	  wi.

System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketExcept

I have a scenario where there is a web service (WS2) which resides behind WSLX authentication. There is another web service (WS1) which is outside of this WSLX authentication. Now we have blackberry application which calls WS1 & send its login credentials which gets passed to WS2 & token is returned back to the blackberry app. For subsequent request the same token is passed in order to ensure that it is the same session. I have seen the similar error as mentioned below earlier in the log but now after migration to SQL 2005 from SQL 2000 this has become more frequent. The error is:

System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond     at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.DoConnect(EndPoint endPointSnapshot, SocketAddress socketAddress)     at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.InternalConnect(EndPoint remoteEP)     at System.Net.ServicePoint.ConnectSocketInternal(Boolean connectFailure, Socket s4, Socket s6, Socket& socket, IPAddress& address, ConnectSocketState state, IAsyncResult asyncResult, Int32 timeout, Exception& exception)

The underlying connection was closed: Unable to connect to the remote server.

Hello,

I get this error message when i kick off my web service to run. It gathers survey feedback from a database via http soap. Recently i put in a proxy that is required for access to internet. The web service started to fail that day as well. Can anyone tell me how i could hard code the proxy that should be used by the web service? I found this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307220

and tried editing the machine.config file but that didn't fix my issue. Any Ideas?

Sql Server 2008 logs Authentication mode incorrectly avoids remote login

Im trying to connect SQL server 2008 Express R2 installed on XP sp3 pc through ODBC SQL Server driver with a Windows 7 PC. I managed to define static IP ports and setup firewall. Now the ODBC connection successfully gets created by accepting uid : sa and my password given.

Now Im getting "login failed for user ". " msg from my application. When I run the same application with same ODBC connection created in the SQL server PC it works fine. The two pcs operate in a workgroup.

Following  is the error log. Im surprised to note that the server logs its in Mixed mode initially and later makes a cry that its in Windows Authentication mode. !!!!

Net.TCP Endpoint; Windows Authentication security; client can connect to a server at localhost but n

Hey all, so here's what going on:

Situation
I have a WCF Service that I have setup as a Windows Service.  Everything works perfectly when I attempt to use the system with all of the components (i.e. server and clients) on the same machine.  However, when I try to connect my client from a different system, I get an error that is trying to tell me that the server rejected the client's credentials.

Objective
I need the client to the able to connect from a different machine.  I want to implement a SQL Role Provider kind of credentialing in the future, but for now, I just need it to work.

What I have tried
I have looked around online and read a few other posts as well some things in the MSDN KB and I have either not found the answer, or not understood it.

  • I have tried setting the <security mode="Transport"> to "None" with the hope that that would disable the accreditation entirely.  All it did was result in a different error saying that there was an error that might have been caused by an invalid message.  I have also tried a few other configurations with this element in the app.config file; to no success.
  • I have read some things about Impersonation, but I am not quite sure I understand how to implement it
