Rare exception: Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcib

Our .NET 2.0 app relies upon the ability to download xml webpages from URLs.  At startup, we have about 6 boxes in the wild (out of thousands) that are seeing the following inner exception when they try to download an xml page.  System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive. (Inner: ) System.IO.IOException: Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. They can get to the URL in their browser just fine, so we know our server is working.  Furthermore, the embedded WebBrowser control in our app can pull up webpages just fine, so I don't think their firewall is blocking our app.  I'm hoping it's just some diagnosible configuration issue.  Here is the snippet of code that does the downloading: WebRequest request = WebRequest.Create(fileToDownload.SourceUri);request.CachePolicy = new RequestCachePolicy(RequestCacheLevel.NoCacheNoStore);request.Timeout = (int)DefaultTimeout.TotalMilliseconds;request.Method = "HEAD";WebResponse response = request.GetResponse(); Nothing revolutionary there. (I've also tried it without the HEAD request, without keepalive, and using HTTP 1.0).  And here is the exception: System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive. WCF issues sending large data - "An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host"

Hi Guys I have posted the following on www.asp.net but thought it might be productive posting here too.I have been pulling my hair out trying to fix an issue with sending data over WCF, I have read pretty much every THREAD on this forum regarding or similar to this issue without any successful solution.  I have a simple data object which has a [DataMember] with a data type of byte[]. I use this to send binary data from my web app as follows: Asp.net MVC website --> WCF Client (Has my Service References) --> My Services (MyServices.svc) --> Business/Data Tier Everything is being executed from within VS 2008 Pro.   Now I have successfully sent data up to 2.2MB, however it fails if i try and send a file such as 2.3MB or larger i get the following exceptions: General Exception Exception rethrown at [0]:    at System.Runtime.Remoting.Proxies.RealProxy.HandleReturnMessage(IMessage reqMsg, IMessage retMsg)   at System.Runtime.Remoting.Proxies.RealProxy.PrivateInvoke(MessageData& msgData, Int32 type)   at SoftApp.WCFClient.MyServiceReference.IMyService.Document_Save(DtoDocument dtoDocument, Int32 usercode)   at SoftApp.WCFClient.MyServiceReference.MyServiceClient.Document_Save(DtoDocument dtoDocument, Int32 usercode) in c:\dev\softapp\softapp.wcfclient\service references\myservicereference\refe

Error when trying to add data connection

We have one developer who has InfoPath 2007 on his desktop. He is unable to add a data connection to any InfoPath forms. When he tries, or when he tries to run a form with the data connection already added, he gets an error stating "Could not open "...wsdl url..." He is able to open the wsdl link in Internet Explorer. Other developers can add the data connection at their desktop and run it on his server. Is there something missing in his environment? I have hunted all over the Internet without success. Has anyone seen this happen before?

Framework 2.0 changes - TCP Provider, error: 0 - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the r

If you connect to a server and open a query in SQL Managment studio (2005) and looses connection and then regain the connection, when you try to run the query it gives me a "TCP Provider, error: 0 - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host."

This happens against both 2005 and 2000 servers.

If I re-run the query it works.

However, this happens in our VB.NET app as well for clients with Wireless connections.

So, something has changed in Framework 2.0 regarding this, does anyone know how to tell the client to not throw this error and just try connecting the server instead which will work?

Query/Connection/Connect unavailable after "a transport-level error has occurred"

In SSMS for SQL Server 2008, when I leave a connection open overnight to a remote server, I occasionally get disconnected.  This is OK, and it's not the issue.  I know there are several reasons that can cause this, such as the remote server could have been rebooted.

The problem is that once this happens, under the Query menu item, in the Connection sub-item, the Connect item is greyed out -- so I can't try to reconnect in the same window.  I also have a Connect icon on the toolbar, and it is greyed out also.  This query window is now dead.

If I open a new query window, I can connect with no problem, but I have to copy any temporary SQL code I was working with from the now-useless original query window, into the new one.

Why would the Connect item become permanently unavailable?  SQL 2005 didn't do this.  I have installed the latest CU on SQL Server client tools (SSMS says the client tools are at 10.0.4270.0).  Client is on Windows 7 Pro x64.

Thanks for any info.

Intermittant error: "A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respon

Greetings,

I'm having a doozy of a problem, and can't find a solution.  I have a WFC Web Service installed to a pair of servers, and accessed through a load balancer.  I am accessing the service from an ASP.NET client app, also via WCF.  The Client is not load balanced.

I'm getting an intermittant error:

I can reproduce this error with about 20% reliability if I execute the exact same page request on the client from 2 browsers at the same time.  When the problem occurs, the successful p

An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host

I get this message when I try to launch a report (.rdl) from Windows Sharepoint 2007.  I have followed the steps to integrate SQL 2005 SP2 with Sharepoint 2007.  I can launch the report by navigating to "http://server:880/reportserver/.."  I am using a shared datasource that I created within sharepoint.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Guys,         I am getting following exception while web service (ASMX) is returning the response. <!-- [if gte mso 10]> <mce:style> System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive.     <!-- [if gte mso 10]> <mce:style>                                                     InnterException (System.IO.Exception): "Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host."       I think either the Asp.net web server is closing the connection or the response is too long.   Following is my simple code.    1)   namespace JFA.IndiePay.BusinessAccess { public class VerTexProcessor { public DataSet ProcessVerTexForBatch(DataSet dsInputRequest) { DataSet dsResponse = new DataSet(); //Call vertex web service here. VertexService.Service texCalculator = new VertexService.Service(); texCalculator.Timeout = 500000;
