Data flow task with multiple destinations randomly hangs

I have a package whose control flow consisting of a single data flow task with multiple destinations continues to hang at random locations.  The data flow task is fairly simple: - One OLE DB source (one query of selecting about 10 fields from one table) - 9 lookups that serve basically as left joins to capture which data "drops off" (does a row redirect on on lookup errors to an "error flow") - Two destinations: one the captures all the data that doesn't drop off from the lookups, and another to capture the data that does drop off; these write to two tables unrelated to each other, and unrelated to any of the tables I'm reading from I have tried the following: - Changed one or both destinations from OLE DB to flat file -- still randomly hangs - Removed both destinations altogether -- this always suceeds.   - Removed destination A and leave destination B -- this always succeeds - Removed destination B and leave destination A -- this always succeeds I took great care in making sure I get no warnings when the package runs, even resolving the unneeded column warnings, and the duplicate keys on all my lookups, but it still hangs. However, once I give up and stop the package, the following error is thrown (among others that appear to be a byproduct of the root issue): Error: 0xC02020C4 at Data Flow Task, OLE_SRC AP12 [1]: The attempt to

[C#] Database ".mdf" already exists. Choose a different database name.

Hi all, it's all day long that i'm fighting with this problem. And i'm getting quite upset! SHORT VERSION Why when i call DataContex.CreateDatabase() does SQLExpress 2008 say that the file already exist even if the file is completly wiped form the DISK!?!   LONG VERSION So, what i'm trying to do is damn simple. I'm developing a simple web application. To do that i've built a DBML file to use with LINQ. For development purpose i'd like to create a local DB. So here my code: string connectionString = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["PermissionsDatabase"].ConnectionString; Response.Write(connectionString); using (PermissionDataContext dataContext = new PermissionDataContext(connectionString)) { if (!dataContext.DatabaseExists()) { dataContext.CreateDatabase(); } }   And in the web.config the connection strin is: Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=C:\Projects\AccessControl\WebSite\App_Data\permissions.mdf;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True When the CreateDatabase() is called i get that Exception. Where the ____ do SQLServer keeps track of that file?! Why if the database already exists the DatabaseExists() return false?!   Moreover if i use this connection string: Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|\permissions.mdf;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True

Choose the right set with IIF

Hi all, I have created an web interface exposing the metadata of a cube to the user. The user can drag the Time dimension to the xaxis, 1 dimension to the y axis. I need to implement a YTD function so that i can see the data YTD. if the user drags in the month, then it will display the YTD up to that month. if the user drags in a year, then it will display the YTD up to December. That means that I need to implement a logic inside MDX to recognize what the user has put in as the time dimension, if it finds out that the depth of the time dimension is 1, i.e. [DateTime].[Calendar 2009] , then it automatically uses [DateTime].[Calender 2009].[December 2009], otherwise it will just use what ever supplied. I am not too good at MDX, I tried the following but it did not work, where {userinput} will be replaced by whatever the user has dragged into the xaxis: With Member TimeSet As IIF({userinput}.Level = 3, {userinput}.LASTCHILD, {userinput}) MEMBER MEASURES.YTDSUM AS SUM(YTD(TimeSet),[Measures].[Total Hours Of Work]) SELECT (YTD(TimeSet), {MEASURES.YTDSUM}) ON 0, (DESCENDANTS([Company Structure].[Structure].&[2002219],1)) on 1 FROM GX2; Thx alot

preferred method to choose where to place if condition for query

I have a design problem I could use some help determining how to code this problem.   I have a table with 3 fields, catCode, startDate and endDate. I am having trouble deciding how to query my DB based on the following...   By default a gridview will return all records that match the catCode selected from a dropdown list.   If the user checks a check box, only records are returned where.... startDate <= today AND endDate >= today   How can I apply the If condition to compare when the check box is selected? I used the wizard to build the select statment for the gridview, but I can switch that to a SP if that makes life easier.   Thanks for any and all help and suggestions.

Choose Item from dropdown list and display in a separate URL ASP.NET

Hi, I've a dropdown list for departments (engineering, bio, chemistry, physics etc.) when somebody choose the departments from the dropdown list, it displays the opening closing time(hours) in a detailsview controls. I have separate homepage for these departments ( these are the static html pages and no way to send querystring value) and I want to link the hours for each department from the departmental homepage. When I choose the department from the DDL, everytime it's the same URL. How can I solve the problem  So that I can point the respective hours from the respective departments ?   Thanks in advance.

how to choose between Shared Memory, Named Pipes, TCP/IP, VIA?

What protocol to choose? Or, Why are they so many? I am mostly interested in contexts: 1)  development on local machine 2) development from remote machine (having SQL Server on another machine)  3) Production 4) what else should I bother/know about? I am developer, mostly using Developer Ed. mostly locally on Windows XP Pro SP3, and really had never bothered which protocol was used as far as connection was being successful. And I had never had any troubles to bother looking and choosing between protocols Why and when should I bother to choose between protocols for development?

Dataflow resetting ID from underlying sources, transformations and destinations

Good afternoon, I have multiple packages with multiple dataflow tasks. The dataflow tasks and it's underlying transformations are copied. Now these underlying transformations have the same ID (numeric, NO GUID). In my logging framework I have a problem getting these tasks recognised. Is there anyway to reset the the transformations ID? maybe programmaticly? I looked how I could get the currenct package object in a script component but this did not worked out for me. I'm looking for something like reset GUID's in BIDS helper but then for the numeric ID's of transformations. Any help is appreciated, Ivo

Nice way to ask user to choose a document and then list of recipients for a mail merge?

I'm building what could be described as a mail merger. A user chooses an email template, chooses a list of recipients, and the application performs a mail merge.

I could attach the workflow to contact lists, in which case I only need to ask the user for the email template to use.
I could attach the workflow to document lists, in which case I only need to ask the user for the recipients to sent to.

I decided though that I'd bring them to a starting page and let them choose both. But I've a horrid and barren looking aspx form.
Is there any nice way of letting them browse for the documents and contacts? At present I'm using a couple of dropdown lists listing all documents on the site, and all contact lists on the site, but it's a bit butt-ugly :D
