Sharepoint 2010 List data to Word Template via Workflow

Ok, I am using Sharepoint 2010 and Designer as well as Infopath 2010. I have a requirement to send out a word document (via workflow) that will be a template that references fields from my Sharepoint List.

Any help is appreciated, I do not want to buy anything extra and a no-code solution would be best.

Infopath Form Data submitting to Sharepoint 2010 List

Making a Client intake form that once submitted will send data to  a sharepoint 2010 List called contacts. Short Summary the form will have repeating fields and alot of information to submit. I have looked and read all over but I cannot find an easy step by step guild on how to submit the form data like that. Long Summary on the sharepoint site a button will open a form for adding a new client.  once the form has been filled out and the user hits submit sharepoint will then create a User File, in clients file, and take the data and put it into contacts list. I am trying to make use of Sharepoint as I would with access, meaning the more information I have on a client the easier it will be to mail merge letters, motions, basicly any file prepaired stuff. So once I have css designed forsharepoint to make it look the way I want then the forms should intergrate perfect

import data from infopath xml forms to SharePoint list

Hi. I have this issue, a customer has an old application that consists of a SharePoint 2003 site and a 'forms library' with forms listing information about physical servers. The infopath (2003) form is pretty straight forward and has a few dropdowns from lists and so on. Now, we need to move this to 2010 and preferably to a list only using oob functionality. I would like to know if anyone has a clue as to how I can get the data from the hundreds of xml files into a list, could be to excel and then to SharePoint, or any means Necessary. I would prefer it if it can be scripted or done using standard tools from Microsoft, no 3rd party custom xml importer...(if it's not really good and free :-) ) ThanksThomas BalkestÃ¥hl - Technical Specialist - SharePoint

How to enable Word 2010 to save to one of the document libraries on a newly installed Sharepoint Ser

Hello,

I have a newly installed Sharepoint Server 2010 (say, http://spserver/) somewhere on our LAN on Windows Server 2008 R2. And I am working with Word 2010 on my Windows 7 machine. I have created a Document library somewhere in a subsite of the Sharepoint server (say, http://spserver/subsite/doclibrary)

Now, working with Word 2010 I want to simply save the document that I'm working into that document library Doclibrary. I go to Word 2010 backstage... and can't find anything there.

1) Save As? It only shows my file system...

2) Save & Send? I see there Save to Sharepoint. But Browse for Location button gives me nothing. If I press Save As here, I just get my file system again.

What should I configure on Sharepoint server or in my machine, so that I can save to my doclibrary with as few clicks as possible, just like I always did with my local file system.

Import Word docs with Metadata into SharePoint 2010 from Windows Server 2003

I need to import 700 Word docs (2003 & 2007) from Windows Server 2003 into a SharePoint Server 2010 library.  I only have a test server to work with right now and want to do as much pre-work before we launch the actual server.

My goal: When we launch the shpt server, import all docs into a library so that columns propagate with metatdata automatically.

I'm not sure what the best approach is...

Can I can open each doc and add custom properties (maybe with InfoPath) to import as metadata, then import managed metadata through the term store tool and have it associate with the manually entered custom properties? I don't fully understand managed metadata, which might pose a problem.  And before I start importing terms, I thought I should find out if I've completely misunderstood how taxonomies work.

Or I have an excel spreadsheet with info about each doc in columns that can act as metadata. I could upload this as a list then associate each doc with the list.  But it seems wiser to enter the metadata into the documets.

Is it possible to update my docs in advance so that uploading goes smoothly? I have help now for data entry that I won't have later.

I have no resources to spend on tools, and have to figure out and build this&nbs

Calendar View for External Data List in SharePoint 2010?

Hello,

I'd like to create a calendar view from data contained in an External List.  My external content type has a Start Date, End Date, and other calendar fields.  Is this possible using the out of the box BCS?

For extra credit - I'd like to then use this calendar as an overlay on other calendars within my SharePoint 2010 application.

Thanks for your help!

Opening Word 2003 document from sharepoint site in word 2010.

When using sharepoint services with word 2003 on an XP machine, everything works fine. We bought some new computers where we now have windows 7 and office 2007/2010. These work perfect too. Even the 64-bit computers.

We are very happy with the new office version, so we decided to upgrade the entire company. As a test, we upgraded 1 PC. But this is not working. So we upgraded office, later we reinstalled it. But nothing helps. This is the problem: I surf to the document click it to open it, and then Word hangs. "contacting server". This is not always the case, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. This even with the same document.

We would really like to upgrade to office 2010 entirely. But we're not going to buy licences we cannot use. Anybody got a solution?

Are there Item Event Receivers for External List in SharePoint 2010? If not, is there a way to validate the item data entered from External List UI in SharePoint site?

SharePoint 2010: Importing a list or document library into a NEW list or library (.cmp)

Hello All,

I am trying to migrate from SharePoint 2007 to SharePoint 2010.  My company's current setup has seen very limited use because we have previously been a mulitple-content-management provider shop, but there are some content items we wish to re-use.  We also want to completely redesign our SharePoint setup to better suit the needs of our business, and the various departments.

My problem, therefore, is the seeming fact that you can apparently EXPORT granular backups down to the list and document library level, but when you try to IMPORT those lists, it gives you static.

Steps:

Database-Attach upgrade MOSS2007 content databases into a SharePoint 2010 web application

In Central Administration | Backup and Restore | Granular Backup:  Export a site or list, choosing whichever list from a site that has content in it.

in PowerShell, attempt the command Import-SPWeb -identity <url|GUID> -path <location of .cmp file created above> -force -verbose

I have attempted looking up the list in the content database for the new site to find its GUID, and also putting the URL of the list, down to the .aspx page it is viewed at.

So at this point I am wondering if what I am trying to accomplish is even possible with out-of-the-box SP2010 functionality.  Is it?  If not I ask the universe "wh

SharePoint 2010: Importing a list or document library into a NEW list or library (.cmp)

I have so far been able to import the list data, and unfortunately the web forms etc. that come with it.

I have a problem with that because I believe the .aspx pages that are copied in cause massive errors (I can no longer view the site after import).

Specifically, the problem: importing the absences list from a MOSS2007 Fab40 Absence tracking p

SharePoint Server 2010 - API to convert word docs to FILTERED HTML

Using word automation services, we cannot convert a doc/docx to FILTERED html, which can be done on client side using "saveas".

Is there any unexposed API through which one can achieve this using SharePointServer2010 + c# programatically.

or any alternative way to get FILTERED HTML format file from doc/docx?

I knew the way to do this as a client side application. This can be acheived simply by recording macros.

Accessing Oracle Table data and updating using SharePoint 2010 List

Hi,

We are trying to access Oracle database table through SharePoint 2010 List. The functionality required is, the user should be able to read the data from the Oracle table in to the SharePoint 2010 List and should also be allowed to update the list and in turn the data should be updated back in to the oracle table.

Over and above any changes made to the oracle table by users, should be updated in the sharepoint 2010 list. Which means the users require a two synchronisation from SharePoint 2010 List to Oracle table and vice versa.

let us know if anyone has worked on this before.
