Posted By:      Posted Date: April 14, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#
Hi, I made cqwp to pull data from announcements list ,Now when i click on this announcement title of cqwp it should navigate me to the announcements list , But as i am giving the following relative url ../Lists/Announcements/AllItems.aspx , The problem with this is it this is working fine from home page but when i am in the same announcements list and click on this title instead of being in same page it goes to url http://mssps/my site/lists/lists/announcements/allitems.aspx here from lists it is getting appended and the page is giving me an error.

does SPD support filtering of the mail title/body we send to a list/library?

for example, if we send a mail with the title of "%hostname% %ipaddress%" to a list. can SPD WF filter the title and get %hostname% to a new variable? the reason to ask this is i want to send a well-formated mail to sharepoint and the automatical WF can recognize the change of the list items and update the relevant columns by the filtered content from mail title or body. thanks!

SOLUTION: Renaming the Title list column globally across the site collection

So, you screwed up like I did, and modified the Title display name of the Item base content type and it has renamed ows_Title across every list in your site collection? Here's how you fix it: //WARNING //If you have come this far, be aware that this tool is a blunt axe. With it, you can cause //all sorts of mayhem and chaos in your site collection. So, to use this, you must be desperate. //or possibly dumb. Apparently, I'm just as dumb as you, because I did it. This is why I wrote //this stupid thing, so stupid people like us can go right on being stupid. //Your choice of weapon in this battle amuses me. Shall we begin? using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Text; using Microsoft.SharePoint;   namespace RenameField {     class Program     {         static void Main(string[] args)         {             if (args.Length < 3)             {                 Console.WriteLine("Usage: RenameField <url-to-sitecollection> <internal-field-name> <new-fieldtitle>");               &n

Dynamic list item title based on date created & regional settings?

I have a list of things that doesn't *need* a title.  However, because sharepoint uses Title for links, RSS etc  I tried generating a title in an event handler.   This would work great if I wasn't basing it on a date field: public override void ItemAdding(SPItemEventProperties properties) { DateTime dt = Convert.ToDateTime(properties.AfterProperties["TestDate"]); properties.AfterProperties["Title"] = dt.ToShortDateString(); base.ItemAdding(properties); } In testing, this sets the title to "8/9/2010" when I selected 8/10/2010 in the date picker.  I figure this is because of the regional settings of my test user.  I can probably correct the title value for 'test user' but that won't fix 'test user in mongolia' who would still see two different values. So What I would like is to have the Title always display the value MyDate in the uesr's locale.  So the field needs to be dynamic not only at edit/update time, but at display time. Does anybody know if this can be accomplished, and more specifically how?

How can I remove/hide built-in Title field in list definition

Now I'm customize a new Content and then new List Template, just like below definition;  <ContentType ID="0x0100ed096ab35eeb4d2e98fb71b9842e9616" Name="Staff Member" Group="Berry Gardens Internet">  <FieldRefs>   <FieldRef ID="{fa564e0f-0c70-4ab9-b863-0177e6ddd247}" Name="Title" />   <FieldRef ID="{F5E777EA-C083-4c2f-BC10-E4BF2B4D6372}" Name="Synopsis" />   <FieldRef ID="{2307576C-A060-4c2d-BABC-34E5A9924667}" Name="Image" />   <FieldRef ID="{051B830A-8105-4384-9AA1-103CEE43B760}" Name="Email Address" />  </FieldRefs> </ContentType> It is inherit from Item parent type, and using built-in Title field({fa564e0f-0c70-4ab9-b863-0177e6ddd247}), but I found that it's diffcult to remove/hide it. When in the default list view, there are two Title fields. So what can I do in the list definition. Regards upzone

How to link Title to it's associated page in list view without URL path column visible -bug?

I don't know if this is a bug or if I'm an idiot (or perhaps both, I'm open minded).   My site I'm developing is a site with publishing features activated where all my news stories are pages. What I want to have is a sortable list (the type hypothetically achieved using the XsltListView Web Part) the lists these pages with 3 columns visible: The Date created, the title (not the page name), and the author. The tricky part is that I would like the title, when clicked on, to take the person to the page. I'm actually almost there. I've created a new view with these specifications except for one issue. To make the title linked to the page, I have to have the column "URL Path" in my list view. When I remove this column, the titles instead all link to the root of the directory I'm in (ex: if I'm in Pages/Forms/My_List.aspx it will link to Pages/Forms/) Is this a bug, or is the URL Path required for the link to work? Is there a way to hide the column? Thanks.

Workflow - automatically create discussion item using title field of of custom list item as its subj

Anyone any ideas as to how I can configure SharePoint to create a discussion item using the title of a list item. e.g. user creates list item on a custom list - SP automatically creates a Discussion thread for this list item in the discussions list. I'm guessing this can't be down OOTB . would I be looking at SPD or a coded solution ? regards, Counie

Cross site lookup field value contains the parent list item id and the title field separated by ;# i

Actually we are using third party component for cross site lookup and facing the problem with cross site lookup field value. Its showing the correct value in default list view mode, but in "Edit in Datasheet" and "Export to Datasheet" view cross site lookup field value contains the parent list item id and the title field separated by ;#. I need the actual value in "Edit in Datasheet" and "Export to Datasheet" view as shown in default list value, i dont want that appended parent list item id and separated by ;#.

Is there any OutOfBox soluiton for this. Please suggest me for the same.

How to change the display name for LinkTitle or Title field in a Custom List programatically

We have a requirement, where we need to create a list from "Custom List" Template, through a console application.
But we need to change the Display Name of the column named "Title" created by default to something else say "CategoryName". We do not want to remove the column but only change its display name, so that the column with name "CategoryName"still has a hyperlink and ECB menu attached to it..

The same can be done by going to list settings and changing the name of the Title column, but I am not able to figure out how to do it progrmatically.

"Title"].Title = "Some Other Name";
CustomListName.Fields["LinkTitle"].Title = "Some Other Name"

No title displayed in the "New" item creationfor a list based on a created list template.

Hello everybody,

I have a problem with a sharepoint list template. I created a custom list in MOSS2007 that I saved as template. The problem is that the new list based on that saved template doens't display the Title (changed on project's name) when I want to create a new item. So after creating new items, their Project's Name (Title) is set to (none) for all of them because I couldn't specify any Project's Name (Title).

I was back to my original list and when I create a new item, the Project's Name is displayed so I can fill it. I searched in the list settings and nothing was special.

The columns are required in both lists, there is no management of content types (maybe a hidden field but NO!), the list is a typical list with basic settings.

Has someone an idea?

I want to reuse this list and the Project's Name (Title) is very important (!).

Thank you.

List and its Title Column

Hello all,

I think its that time of year when you want to pull your hair out and wonder what sharepoint is doing ??

Observe the code inside siteprovisioning.vb file in visual studio site definition project

 ' //    Hide Title Column
Dim oList As SPList = currentWeb.Lists("Logs")
oList.Fields("Title").ShowInDisplayForm = False
oList.Fields("Title").ShowInNewForm = False
oList.Fields("Title").ShowInEditForm = False
oList.Fields("Title").Required = False

As you can see I am trying to hide Title column from a list I have programmatically.

It's just not working...??

Can anyone advise what is an alternative.

PS - please don't suggest remove title column from list definition because I am not using a list definition merely a custom list type.

Operation completed successfully. ========== Deploy: 1 succeeded, 0 failed, 0 skipped ==========

How to update list item with same title and the name of a library?

I'm a newbie to VS and SP Development and thus asking for some help from the community.

I'd like to be able to update a list item from a workflow running on a library, the list item title is the same as the library name.

Environment is SP2010 Ent. VS 2010.

I have imported a workflow from SPD into VS2010 and I would like to add some code using Linq to update another list.  The query will be something like:

update list item where title is equal to current item list title.

I'm OK with the easy bit - writing the Linq code and adding the Linq context file etc.  But I don't know where I need to add the update statement.

The import has created a lot of files, the largest of which is the .rules file with about 7000 lines of code.  The placing of the code should be straight forward as I want it to be last thing to happen in the workflow depending on a current item value.

Therefore can anyone help with regards to where in the project I need to put my code?

Thanks in advance.

passing page title through a param

Hello all,

I am new to ASP.NET, and was wondering how to pass a Page title through a parameter.  In classic ASP I could just use something like: <title><%=Pagetitle%></title> but I cannot seem to get this to work in ASP.NET.

Thank you in advance,

The New Guy... Smile
