Change data type of library field from Single Line Text to currency

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 14, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#

I have an InfoPath 2010 form that has a field listing the amount of currency on a meter. It is a Decimal form in Infopath but publishes to SharePoint as a Single Line of Text.  It will not let me modify the column in SharePoint and it will not let me select the allow edit from the Publishing Wizard.  I need the column as a currency so my Excel Queries work.

I am building a website for my hockey league.

I have a gridview that displays the current weeks scheduled games. Ideally I have added a column to the end of the gridview that I would like display 1 of 3 values. If the game has already been played I would like to display the score of the game; if the game has yet to be played I would like the column blank and if someone on either team has indicated that they can't make the game I would like to display a button that says "subs needed" and take you to another page to sign up to be a sub. Can this be done? I have been able to change the background color of the line based on the two boolean flags from the database using the RowDataBound event handler but I can't seem to find a way to set the value of a specific field in my row. (The background is set for the whole row.)

Thanks in advance -eric

Mission Impossible? Use Javascript to Disable a Multi-Line Rich Text Field

Hey Community,

Here's a tough one that I have struggled with and so far have not been able to find an answer for - how do you use Javascript to disable a multi-line rich text field.  I have customized a SP Edit form by adding a CEWP.  In the CEWP I have added the Javascript below (only a partial code sample provided) to disable several fields in the form.  The code works fine for single line text fields but it does not work for multi-line rich text fields.  Any suggestions?

<script language="javascript">
//This runs the function when the form first loads

//This locks the fields the users should not modify
function lockFields()
  var theInputTFTitle = getTagFromIdentifierAndTitle("Input","TextField","Title");
  theInputTFTitle.readOnly = true;
  theInputTFTitle.style.color = 'gray';
  //alert(" Value: " + theInputTFTitle.value);//for testing

   var theInputDDLReplyStatus = getTagFromIdentifierAndTitle("select","DropDownChoice","Reply Status");
  theInputDDLReplyStatus.disabled = true;
  //alert(" Value: " + theInputDDLReplyStatus.value);//for testing

SSRS 2008 R2 Dataset Field Value Property Data Type not numeric

We're building SSRS 2008 R2 reports using SSAS as data sources.  There are several occaissions where the data types of certain dataset field values that represent cube measures are not numeric.  As such, when these fields are used in an aggregate function they throw an error.  Is there a way to remedy this in the dataset? Thanks for your help.

Display each new line of a sharepoint mutliline text field as choice in drop down box.

The question pretty much says it all. I have a lot of data I need to represent, and this would be the best way to do it. I have a multiline text field in sharepoint, where each line has a choice that should be a seperate choice in a text box. How do I do this? I have the data connection set up, and I would be fine with adding some sort of tag after each line, if that would make it so infopath can somehow parse out those tags, and interpret each "chunk" as a choice. Thanks in advance for your help.

Multiline text field in document library and item update from Word trouble

Hi I have faced a bit of odd problem. Here is the scenario: I have document library with text columns (multiple lines of text) that are set to unlimited length. I have a workflow that runs with Word documents (.docx) that stores information in XML to this field. Everything works perfectly until document is edited in Word and saved back to document library. After Word saves my document in document library, the multiline text field is "cutted", only 7 rows of text is saved to my field. I have tried hiding my text field, making it sealed or readonly, but still Word breaks my field. Funniest thing is that when editing document in Word, this field should not have any changes (meaning that I dont show my "long text field" in document information panel back in Word). I have tried also creating event handler to handle itemupdating event in document library where I switch spweb.parserenabled property to false and in itemupdated event I switch it back on. Also I have tried to remove all line changes from XML with no luck. This XML saving to long text field works perfectly with many other places but in this one environment this does not seem to work :( I am looking forward to any suggestions what to try next. I have been wondering about using the eventhandlers and trying to "protect" my text field with some logic but that is still just a thought.   T

Is there a way to manually or programmatically set the dataset field's data type? This dataset is

Is there a way to manually or programmatically set the dataset field's data type?  The reason I am asking this question is that I am trying to sum a column of data in a report.  I noticed it is possible to sum a column of data if the datatype of a field in the .rdl file is of type <rd:TypeName>System.Int32</rd:TypeName>. Whereas it is not possible to sum a column of data in an .rdl file when the datatype of a field is <rd:TypeName>System.String</rd:TypeName> . When I create a dataset in BIDS 2008, by default, the dataset gives a field a type System.String.  I need to be able to change the field type to System.Int32 in order to sum the column. My datasource is a web service.  The results returned by the web service method has a datatype of int as follows: <xs:element name="Dollars" type="xs:int" minOccurs="0" /> So it seems the dataset created by the reporting services is giving my webservice a type of System.String. Is there some way of manually changing the type? thanks, Lloyd

XML data stored in text field

Hi there, I need to extract XML data stored as text from any number of given rows of a table. The stored XML data typically looks like this: In the ATTRIBUTES field from NODEMEATADATA table <T41><A93>S46 SE Trade &amp; Investment</A93><A35>3284</A35><A84>28 November 2008</A84><A33>S Polkinghorn Bband</A33><A46>S46 0501-KEYF Keyfort Limited</A46><A89>400.68</A89><A90>0</A90><A88>400.68</A88><A66>560200 Broadband</A66><A70>ITAC</A70><A54>N/A</A54><A86 /><A87>Awaiting Posting</A87><A91>Mashudul Karim</A91><A94>Chris Burchell</A94><A92 /></T41> I need to be able to extract the invoice numbers from any number of rows based on a WHERE clause that referes to another column of a date/time format. The invoice numbers are with the <A35>****</A35> tags What I have noticed in the table is that element is not always the same. SOme are <T41> some <T6> or <T7> which I think might have something to do with the document status within the <A87> tags. If possible I need to pick up within multiple elements. I then need to add this to my current simple query: SELECT METAID, CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), CAST(CAST(CREATEDON AS VARCHAR) AS DATETIME), 103) AS 'CREATED', FROM N

Is there any way to populate an InfoPath form field with the data from the site content type column?

I have a Form library with a form template.

The templat has a field "Office name" which should not be a fixed list of values, but a dynamical list, feeded from a different type of form. I'm a novice with InfoPath - Sharepoint and I want to find out, how can I can give users a possibility to create and maintain a list of offices and also have this list as a selection list inside main library form - ALL inside one library, if possible.

I assumed that if I publish main form (Itinerary) as a library template form and lookup form (OfficeInfo) as a SiteContent, I should be able somehow to connect to siteContent column and it's information. But I cannot see how - Site Content Gallery is not appering as a Connection item.

Can I use SiteConenct for this purpose or there are other ways to create end-user lookup lists?

Thank you!

Expose data contract used in two services as a single type on client side?

I have a .dll that contains my data contracts and I reference this dll in two different services.

Now, on the client side I don't want to add this dll because I need both WPF-clients and Silverlight clients. So, what I want is to be able to use a single data contract on the client side and not with different namespaces for the different services. As I understand this should be possible but I don't know how.

Can someone explain how I can generate a single data contract on client side that can be used for calls to both services?

Thanks for help!

Various Data type save in One Field

I use a ntext data type for all kind of data save in one field, but when i save  byte (that converted from image) follwing message is shown "Operand type clash: varbinary(max) is incompatible with ntext". Is ntext suitable for all kind of data type or what will be compatible for all data type support?

SSRS Change field properties dependent on the render type

I've built a report that has background images with text over the top, which when rendered as Word or Excel the images don't show and because the client has requested the text is white against the image, the text isn't visible.

What I'd like to do is run code within the report that identifies the render type and if xls will change the text color through an expression.

Any ideas would be greatful.
