XSLTListViewWebPart displaying incorrect formatting

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 14, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#

I have a Linked Data Source that I'm rendering through a XSLTListViewWebPart using the XslLink property on one site. On a Subsite, I have another XSLTListViewWebPart. The second Web Part has different settings for the XslLink property, but is displaying the same formatting.

Displaying XML in label control using xslt formatting

I am using an XML file as a database and I am using a text box and a button to search for a node within the xml file and display that node on a label control using the format required by the xslt file.  I have created an example to use as the real file is rather big. If I add an xml control to the page and set the documentSource and transformSource to my existing files, it will display the node on the page in the correct format.  If I try and pass the query to the label, it only shows the inner text of the XML tags with no spaces and no formatting as specified in the xslt file. Is there a way to pass the query to a label control and render it using the formatting specified in the xslt file?  In all honesty, it doesn't even have to be a label if I can get the query to render as specified in the xslt file in any way shape or form, I would be happy with that.I feel like I am just one statement away from having it complete but for the life of me can't seem to figure out what it is.  Any help is apprecaited.XML File:<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?><?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="animal.xslt"?><animals>    <animal name="dog">        <color>brown</color>        <hair>lo

Displaying formatting of an Excel sheet in a datagridview within a C# application

I've successfully used the Excel COM objects in C# to extract the contents of the sheets. I then use this information in a datagridview.

Rather than just cycle through each cell for the values to build up what needs to be displayed however I used the Worksheet.UsedRange.get_value() method instead which returns a 2D array of objects containing the string values of the cells.

I've done this since going through each cell individually appears to slow things down considerably, especially when larger Excel files are being opened. I would like to also apply as much of the formatting as possible from the file too, however there doesn't appear to be a clear way to extract formatting information in a similar way to get_value. I could go back to cycling through the cells, but this would probably incur an unacceptable loss in speed as a result.

Does anybody know how to retrieve formatting information using a way that's similar in terms of output to the way that get_value works?

Displaying SharePoint lists in Web Parts

When you create a built-in or custom list in Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services, Windows SharePoint Services creates a Web Part, a basic building block of a SharePoint site, to display that list. These Web Parts are called List View Web Parts. Windows SharePoint Services stores List View Web Parts in the site collection Web Part gallery. (The site collection Web Part gallery is the most central gallery of Web Parts for a work group. By default, the gallery name is the name of the site, such as "Our Team Site Web Part Gallery." )

Displaying Row Details Tooltip on GridView using JQuery

Continuing exploring JQuery! I decided to implement a feature to display some kind of details related to a row displayed on GridView. For example when displaying employees details on GridView some information might not fit in the GridView because it will make it huge and wide. These infomration can be diplayed as Tooltip. Or when you want to display a picture and some kind of formated text to be diplayed as tooltip when mouse hover on the image.

Using ASP.NET 3.5's ListView and DataPager Controls: Displaying Data with the ListView

Prior to ASP.NET 3.5, developers who needed to display a set of records could choose between the GridView, DataList, and Repeater controls. The GridView provides rich data features, but has a very boxy layout; the DataList and Repeater allow for a more flexible layout, but lack the "point and click" data features found in the GridView, DetailsView, and FormView controls. The ListView bridges the gap between layout flexibility and built-in data features.

This article, the first in a series of articles on the ListView and DataPager controls, looks at the ListView's many available templates and illustrates how to display data. Read on to learn more!

I'm using following JS code to display input hint box besides the textbox whenever that asp.net textbox receives focus.

function prepareInputsForHints() {
	var inputs = document.getElementsByTagName("TextBox");
	for (var i=0; i<inputs.length; i++){
		// test to see if the hint span exists first
		if (inputs[i].parentNode.getElementsByTagName("span")[0]) {
			// the span exists! on focus, show the hint
			inputs[i].onfocus = function () {
				this.parentNode.getElementsByTagName("span")[0].style.display = "inline";
			// when the cursor moves away from the field, hide the hint
