Im trying to install SQL Server 2008 R2 on Windows 7 Enterprise. During installation, I have given my own instance name. After that, I tried to open Management studio but I couldnt find that instance.

Once, I am done with installation of sql server 2008 R2 I would like to install Sharepoint 2010 with special instructions provided by MSDN to install on Windows 7. But sharepoint configuration failed because it couldnt configure the database.

Any help is appreciated.

I need a detailed instruction on how to upgrade From Upgrading from Windows SharePoint Services 2.0  (SBS 2003 ) to SharePoint Foundation 2010.

Background of the case:

I have all my databases (STS-database and STS_Config) saved but, I forgot to save my Virtual Site )Companyweb site) and I mistakenly re-installed IIS on the SBS 2003, hence  I lost the companyweb site. Is this an issue to migrate to Sharepoint foundation 2010. The Sharepoint foundation 2010 is running on a Microsoft HyperV Server 2008 R2
Also, I have created a Virtual 2003 SRV ENT with Sharepoint Services 3.0 running on it. I also have attached my Databases STS_Database and STS_Config)... how do I get it working like a regular website. I have modified the CNAME record to reflect the new server... http://companyweb - it take me to the new site but it loads a blank page. I did create a new CompanyWeb Virtual site on the VHD 2003 server.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your prompt response. Nelson

Windows 7 Sharepoint 2010 Foundation

Hello again, we installed Sharepoint 2010 Foundation on a Windows 7 Professional OS 8GB 4Core machine and when we try to use a trial Version of Visual Studio 2010 we are getting "A 32 bit version of version of Windows Sharepoint Services is required by this project but is not installed on this system. Please install Windows Sharepoint Services 3.0, please download from MS or as part of MS Sharepoint Server 2007" I'm wondering if anyone might know if there is a key step we forgot to do or if this might be a Visual Studio 2010 setting per chance? Thanks very much again BobK

Can WEBDAV be disabled in Sharepoint 2010 on a Windows Server 2008 R2?

Hello, we had some issues with WEBDAV use with Sharepoint 2010 placed behind WEBSeal proxies. We decided to only use FPSE (front page server extensions) for an external access to this portal. I cannot find a way, how to disable WEBDAV, or how to force clients to only use FPSE with this portal. It is fair, to say, that we would like to make such configuration on a server side, rather then configure client computers. We are running Sharepoint 2010 on a Windows Server 2008R2 server (i.e. IIS 7.5) thank you in advance for help/ideas Roman Cernovsky

MOSS 2007 to SharePoint Server 2010 Hybrid Upgrade Approach on Windows Server 2003 x64

There's some guidance circulating about upgrading to 2010 with a mix of In-Place and Database Attach upgrade methods. My Central Admin and SharePoint Web App are on a 64 bit server, but it's running on Windows server 2003 x64 and not on Windows Server 2008 or 2008 R2. SharePoint Team Blog says Server 2008 or 2008 R2 is required for SP2010. If I want to do the hybrid upgrade approach, is it possible to first upgrade the OS to Server 2008 R2 on the server where my Central Admin and SP Web App runs?  Or will this break MOSS 2007?

Windows Sharepoint Foundation 2010 - Document Library Settings with Reporting Services 2008 R2 in in

I have a client who has recently upgraded their SharePoint system to Windows Sharepoint Foundation 2010 with Reporting Services 2008 R2 in integrated mode. I have configured reporting services and am able to deploy reports to SharePoint. The client created a document library before the upgrade to WSF 2010. I need to add Report Builder 3.0 to the New Document menu and found the following article. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb326289.aspx "Allow management of content types?" is set to yes under the advanced document library settings. The problem is that when I try to "add from existing site content types" the reporting services content types are not in the list. I appreciate any help you can give me.

Why doesn't the SharePoint 2010 STS use the Windows Certificate Store?

I've come across a few issues recently where I've needed to import certificates in to SharePoint 2010's certificate store AKA Manage Trusts in Central Admin. I’ve had to import trusted root certificates for Claims , Cross-Farm Service Applications , the User Profile Service Application, and I've noticed it's also a requirement for

Import Word docs with Metadata into SharePoint 2010 from Windows Server 2003

I need to import 700 Word docs (2003 & 2007) from Windows Server 2003 into a SharePoint Server 2010 library.  I only have a test server to work with right now and want to do as much pre-work before we launch the actual server.

My goal: When we launch the shpt server, import all docs into a library so that columns propagate with metatdata automatically.

I'm not sure what the best approach is...

Can I can open each doc and add custom properties (maybe with InfoPath) to import as metadata, then import managed metadata through the term store tool and have it associate with the manually entered custom properties? I don't fully understand managed metadata, which might pose a problem.  And before I start importing terms, I thought I should find out if I've completely misunderstood how taxonomies work.

Or I have an excel spreadsheet with info about each doc in columns that can act as metadata. I could upload this as a list then associate each doc with the list.  But it seems wiser to enter the metadata into the documets.

Is it possible to update my docs in advance so that uploading goes smoothly? I have help now for data entry that I won't have later.

I have no resources to spend on tools, and have to figure out and build this&nbs

Problem with Sharepoint 2010 - Claims Auth - Windows Auth and FBA. consistent redirects back to "cho

We have sharepoint 2010 foundation site that we can successfully login with via IE, Firefox, Chrome both on the domain and externally with Claims Authentication with only Windows Auth type selected (NTLM).

Once we add FBA and use the default signin page, we can still login (we select Windows Auth from the dropdown) BUT it only works on the domain. When we try to access externally, the only browser that works is FireFox. Both Chrome and IE just constantly redirect back to the Choose Authentication dropdown screen.

We have tried for the last 2 days to sort this out. Has anyone else experience this? It looks like the default sign in page somehow doesn't set the cookie for IE and Chrome and just bounces us back to the sign in page...

Thanks for any info...

To clarify, we are not even using the FBA yet. We are trying to login only with the windows auth and domain accounts...
