Error when adding closed web parts in SharePoint 2010

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 14, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#

Hi,

I am trying to add a web part that was accidentally closed. I am doing this through Edit, Add Web Part, Advanced Web Part gallery and options, Closed Web Parts, Selecting my closed web part and attempting to add it.

The workflow is slightly different depending on browser - in IE, you have to drag it to the correct row, in Chrome/FF you need to select the web part and click the "Add" button.

The errors are also different depending on button. IE reports that the item no longer exists, and it says this no matter which web part I select.

Unable to add selected web part(s). The Web Part you attempted to add no longer exists in the Closed Web Parts Gallery. It may have already been added to the Web Part Page. Refresh your browser to update the Web Part Page and the Gallery.

Chrome and FF show a much more generic error:

Unable to add selected web part(s). An error has occurred.

I don't even know where to start looking.. The web part DOES exist - it's listed everywhere and it was only just closed (not deleted). It is not already added on the web page.

Thanks.

Error in adding new link in summary link webpart after upgrading to sharepoint 2010

hi,

I have a weird error after upgrading my portal from sharepoint 2007 to sharepoint 2010 using attach database approach.

The error occurs when creating a new link in the summary link web part, so a pop up screen will show up, then if I click on Browse Button to link for an item an error occur, on the other hand if i click Browse Button to link an image then everything is working normally.

I checked the event viewer and here what I got, any Ideas?
