PerformancePoint 2010 - KPI Alignment

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 14, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#

I can't seem for the life of me to get the scorecards with currency and an indicator align to the right instead of the left.

Is there a way to do this? I want the text to align to the right instead of the rest. I don't see a way to do this via the PerformancePoint Dashboard Designer.

PerformancePoint Services is all about surfacing data to users in a dashboard format to allow users to create business decisions based on the dashboard information. (Length: 11:51)

Can you install SharePoint 2010 and User PerformancePoint in a single server enviroment?

Hi I Installed SharePoint 2010 in a single server farm and I configured a Performance Point service aplication. Whenever I run dashboard designer it seems to work but it eventually crashes. I don´t know if I have any configuration errors. I read this Run the Secure Store Service on a separate application server that is not used for any other service. Create the secure store database on a separate application server running SQL Server. Do not use the same SQL Server installation that contains content databases. Here http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee806889.aspx I believe this service is necesary to run connect to data sources does this mean it all cannot be run in the same server.

PerformancePoint Services 2010 and Cube Actions

In PerformancePoint Services 2010, is there support for cube actions that are not on the cell level (i.e., Dimension or Hierarchy).  In 2007 this was not supported and in 2010 ones I have setup are not appearing.  I am guessing the answer is the same as in 2007 but would like some confirmation if possible.

SSAS 2008 R2 custom actions with Performancepoint Services 2010

Hello all,

Is PerformancePoint 2010 capable of showing custom actions created in SSAS 2008 R2 in analytic charts under "additional actions" in general?  I figured out that only SSAS actions of type "drilldown action" show up in the context menu of the PPS analytic chart (and also function properly), whereas custom actions with MDX expression (drillthrough script of ASSP for a calculated measure) in SSAS are not shown by PPS under "additional actions" at all (not even disabled, just no entry). Target type of the custom action is set to cell based as I already read that other types are not supported yet. Drillthrough permissions in SSAS are set properly as the show details function of PPS works fine for the same user accessing (non-calculated) measures. Testing the custom action with SSAS built-in cube browser and Excel OLAP interface shows no problems at all.

Thanks for your help,

PerformancePoint 2010 remote access - filter by user

I am writing you because I would like to know our options to implement the following design with PerformancePoint 2010:

We have a data warehouse with the data from 50 branches of some company. All data is saved together in a single database and there is a column Branch_ID in the fact table. Branch_ID tells us which of the 50 branches each record belongs to. We created SSAS cube from this data. The cube is on the server in our company.

Now we would like to offer HTTP access to this cube to all 50 branches of above-mentioned company and we think about using PerformancePoint 2010 and Excel services. Each branch would connect to the dashboards and workbooks over the internet (not local network!) with web browser and see only the data that belongs to their branch. We would use the »software as a service« concept.

PerformancePoint 2010 - Denied Access to Existing Data Source

We have SharePoint 2010 farm using Kerberos for authentication that works fine for almost all scenarios, except this last issue we see with PerformancePoint and the Dashboard Designer.

When our Data Connections library is empty I can start the Dashboard Designer and create a New Data Source. Clicking on Save the data source is saved in the correct location (default PPS library).

However, once I do an action that requires the Dashboard Designer to read the list of data sources from this library I get an access issue. This could be by trying to create a report using the saved data source or by closing the Dashboard Designer and opening it again to create a data source.

This error is logged in the ULS log and Event Viewer:

The user "domain\loginname" attempted to access an item in the following location: http://sp-server/PWA/ProjectBICenter/Data Connections for PerformancePoint

PerformancePoint 2010 sample Dashboards

Hi Guys,

Need some help on this; basically I need to give a client demo on SharePoint 2010 PerformancePoint Services to give a feel of the dashboards and its drill down capabilities. Since I am running out of time and there is not enough time to create from starting, I was wondering if there is a place where I can download the sample dashboards and install in SP2010 machine.

Please let me know if you have any idea about this ASAP.

Thanks, Gaurav

PerformancePoint 2010 - SharePoint Lists as a data source

I am in the midsts of planning for an upgrade from 2007 to 2010, and we are looking for quick-wins for the client, one of which obviously being PerformancePoint 2010 integration with SPS 2010. So i am tooling around, following some basic tutorials of creating scorecards/kpis/filters/dashboards all from the contoso sample data, which is all fine and well, but my client doesn't have a datawarehouse, and doesn't plan on moving to one.

This puts me in the situation where I need to be able to create these pieces from SP Lists instead of an analysis services DB/DW. I go through and create the data connection, and all seems to be working fine...In the data connection windows, I can click the View tab and preview the data, and actually see all the data thats in the task list I've created and linked to (all demo data, just created a couple of tasks and etc).

Now the trouble comes when I try to create a simple scorecard based off of this list. When I am in the Create tab, and click Scorecard, (Use Tabular > SP List) I can select my data source (Task Tracking Data Source) and thats all well and good.

I then go to the SharePoint Site tab (on the select data source on the wizard), I am able to select my Task Tracking Data source as well. When I get to the KPI scre

ASP.NET, HTML, JavaScript Snippet Support (VS 2010 and .NET 4.0 Series)

This post covers another useful improvement in VS 2010 - HTML/ASP.NET/JavaScript snippet support. Snippets allow you to be more productive within source view by allowing you to create chunks of code and markup that you can quickly apply and use in your application with a minimum of character typing.

Visual Studio has supported the concept of "snippets" for VB and C# in previous releases - but not for HTML, ASP.NET markup and JavaScript. With VS 2010 we now support snippets for these content types as well.

Clean Web.Config Files (VS 2010 and .NET 4.0 Series)

.NET 4 includes a new version of the CLR, and a new .NET 4 specific machine.config file (which is installed side-by-side with the one used by .NET 2, .NET 3 and .NET 3.5).

The new .NET 4 machine.config file now automatically registers all of the ASP.NET tag sections, handlers and modules that we've added over the years, including the functionality for:

.ASP.NET Dynamic Data
.ASP.NET Routing (which can now be used for both ASP.NET WebForms and ASP.NET MVC)
.ASP.NET Chart Control (which now ships built-into ASP.NET V4)
What this means is that when you create a new "Empty ASP.NET application" project in VS 2010, you'll find that the new default application-level web.config file is now clean and simple:

Architecture Tools in VSTS 2010

Designing new functionality on existing applications can be daunting. There are always differences between the original design and the current implementation.

The new Architecture tools within Visual Studio Team System 2010 help you understand the application you have, design new functionality you need, and validate that your design and your implementation do not deviate.

VB and C# enhancements in VS 2010

In Visual Studio 2010, we've made several enhancements to our two most popular languages, Visual Basic and C#, to give programmers all the tools they need to build great software no matter which language they prefer.

The Visual Basic team focused on adding productivity features to the language so developers can get more done in fewer lines of code. The most common customer request for Visual Basic is to remove the underscore ("_") character when breaking a code statement across multiple lines in most cases. Visual Basic 10 introduces implicit line continuation, which removes the need for the underscore character in most cases.

Code Optimized Web Development Profile (VS 2010 and .NET 4.0 Series)

When you first run VS 2010 it prompts you to select an IDE profile to use. The profile you select will configure how tool windows are displayed/docked in the IDE by default and set the default keyboard shortcuts. You can then customize any of these settings by using the Tools->Options menu within the IDE and then override/change them. You can also later reset your profile and pick a different one by choosing the Tools->Import and Export Settings menu command.
