Multi Valued Fields flooding the term store

In the User Profile store we have lots of multivalued properties. Somehow it seems like all the values for the Multi Value fields for user profiles are getting auto populated in the term store.

Can some one explain if by default Multivalued attributes get added to term store?

Also how to disable this behavior. We do not want some of the multivalued fields to get added to the Term Store.

Problems with the & symbol in the term store management

Hi, I encountered a strange error in the production environment of one of our customers. The ‘&’ symbol is being shown, in the term store management, as this ‘?’ symbol. In our test environment this problem does not occur. Did anyone else encounter this issue? I am really curious what causes it. Thanks in advance for the help.  

Taxonomy term store additions via site setting are not visible to user in RC1

Is see that its possible to define Taxonomy term store via SharePoint main central  admin page. But when I try to add term store entries via a new site in the same collection ....  site setting -> Site Administration -> Term store management any new entries are not visible. That is to say when a user starts to enter a tag the helper dialog does not show any values added via the site but all values add via the central admin do appear. this seems like a bug and the is in RC1 or am I doing something wrong

Issue with multi-valued crawled property

Hi, The problem is, we have a multi-valued crawled property (Managed Metadata type) which we are mapping to a managed property. The managed property has been created, setting MergeCrawledProperties to false.   On the page http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff393811.aspx , it states that if MergeCrawledProperties is not set, only the first element is stored in the managed property. We are seeing this behaviour in our environment.   That is causing an issue with refinement results based on this managed property, because it is not including the second element as a result. For example, if we crawl the following content:   Doc1.doc           Property1;Property2 Doc2.doc           Property1;Property2 Doc3.doc           Property2   Refinement results look like this: Property 1           RefinementCount = 2 Property 2           RefinementCount = 1   Ideally we would like to see Property 2’s RefinementCount = 3 to accurately reflect our source data.   We also tried setting MergeCrawledProperties to true , however this merges results together.   For example, with our scenario above, refi

Deploying taxonomy term store and managed meta column from development machine to production machine

Hi, In my development environment, I created a taxonomy term store by importing a CSV file. I also created a site column of type "managed meta data" based on that term store. Now, I want to migrate to production environment. What is the best way to do this? How to add custom properties to terms in the SharePoint 2010 managed metadata term store?


There is a "Term.CustomProperties" collection to get the collection of custom property objects for the current Term object from the read-only dictionary.
But where and how to define and set custom properies for terms? This dictionary seems to be read-only by default.

Any help / documentation would be appreciated. / Frank

How to call multi store prcedure in one function

I have several store procedure to do different things. When user click submit button, call store_procedureOne, store_procedureTwo, store_procedureThree.

Here is my code.

How do you store multi-dimensional array to viewstate?  I am having a problem.  Here's what I did:

public bool[,,] regsettings = new bool[7,5,4];

bool[,,] regsettings = (bool[,,])ViewState["regsettings"];    // this line works!

regsettings[i,j,tab] = (bool)ViewState["regsettings"]; // this line no working?! The error is: Object reference not set to an instance of an object

the letters i,j,tab are just variables in the loop.  They are there.

I also tried: (bool[,,,]) as a cast and it is a no-go either.?


Issue with multi valued parameters in SSRS using Oracle data source

I have a dataset which is getting data from oracle datasource and my Dataset query expression is

My parameter is multiValued parameter. The above query is working good if i select one value,however if select more than one value or all it is not giving me the data. I tried to put Ltrim and Rtrim in Join but it is giving me another syntax error.

FullTextSqlQuery using Multi-Valued Lookup Field

Hi There,

I have written a bespoke search webpart powered by the Enterprise Search FullTextSqlQuery object (MOSS 2007). Everything is working well apart from one slight hiccup:

Part of the requirement is to be able to filter the result set using the value of a metadata property on the list items. This property is of the  Multi-Valued Lookup type. A user would assign one or more lookup values to the item and then would expect it to be returned in the search results when one or more of these values matches the filter criteria.

I've looked all over Google and I can't find any examples of where a multi-valued lookup field has been used in the WHERE clause of a full text sql query. Could anyone point me in the right direction?

Exporting taxonomy term set from a term store?


Hi all,


We have been building our demonstration environment in MOSS 2010 Beta, and would like to find a way to export the taxonomy from the term store so we can import into the production environment.

Is there any way to accomplish this? (MSFT took the time to develop an Import function; maybe they also thought to add an Export function?)



Term Store Set: What happens to items tagged with the Term if the Term is moved within the Term Set


Just trying to understand how changes to a Term Set within the Term Store impact documents and other tagged items in the MOSS 2010 front end. If I move, deprecate or merge a Term within a Term Set, do all of the items marked with that Term reflect the change in data? What happens to the same items if the Term is deleted?

How to add/append metadata stored within the Sharepoint Term Store to a crawled item

I need someone to explain to me how to add/append metadata stored within the Sharepoint Term Store to a crawled item (i.e., can it only be done via External Content Type?). Bascially i need to know if there is any Out of the box solution for this?

Auto-Update Managed Metadata Term Store from External DB or List

Hi all,

I have been able to import terms using the .CSV file within the MMSA Term Store, but is there a way to auto-update the terms from an external list. Example: An external database already has terms and adds terms on a regular basis. Is there a method for updating the Term Store automatically when terms are added in the external source. Perhaps creating a SharePoint List populated with external data and somehow linking this up to the Managed Metadata terms? I know that System keywords are added to the term store when a user tags an item, but is there a way to tie into this functionality for managed metadata?

getting the above error when running a report in SSRS 2005, using a stored procedure with many input parameters,

connected to a Sybase IQ database,

I want to have some of the prompts to be multi valued prompts.......

Creating a subscription that sends out an email for each value in a multi valued parameter


I have a report that has  a paramter (drop  down) which has about 1000 possible values. I need to create a subscription that generates an excel sheet for each value in that paramter and send it as an email attachment to a selected set of people based on the paramter chosen.

assume that the paramter is called bank name and has the following possible values, pnc, wachovia, boa..

when the subscription runs

it should run the report with the parameter value for bankname as "pnc" generating an excel and emailing it to user@pnc.com

then it should run the report with the parameter value for bankname as "wachovia" generating an excel and emailing it to user@wachovia.com

then it should run the report with the parameter value for bankname as "boa" generating an excel and emailing it to user@boa.com

and so on

What is the best way to accomplish this
