Embedded links inside of Word documents in SP document library

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 14, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#
Does anyone know of a tool that can spin through a document library, looking for urls within Word documents in a SP document library, and change those urls?  We are migrating sites to another server farm, and this migration will change the top level url names (for instance was https://foo/document%20lib/bar.doc  to https://someothername/...).  Manually changing the embedded links in the Word documents is not really a viable option due to the number of documents they have.  These documents link to other documents within the same site.

Converting Word Documents library to PDF document library in SharePoint Server 2007

My project requires me to create an event reciever such that when a word file is added to one library the same content pdf file should be added to other library also when a word file is updated, edited or checked in the respective pdf file in other document library should be replaced by a new pdf file with the edited word content . Can we do this in Sharepoint 2007 I have seen this can be done in Sharepoint 2010 http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff181518.aspx

list max N documents since last R weeks with xyz labels from document library as links (using jquery

Sorry for the cryptic title, but i wonder how to create that.

I have a huge document library, people put a lot inside it.
Now some departments would like to show specific docs on their department webpage (the page is within this same site).

These docs might be reports, or other repeating documents i would like to filter them on their labels.
So for example to filter on the department label and so filter on sales
Their report is named like "results product xyz.doc"  >> so i like to filter also on "result product"
They create reports every 2 weeks, and i'd like to be able to show the last N reports based on their title that contains reports
Or since the last R weeks

I dont want people to enter or change criteria, nor do i want people to add documents here. (as in a document library).
Maybe the only option should be a link on the bottom to extend the range of time in the past or max documents

Just based on these filter create a link list to those documents (using their doc name) and showing their comment would be cool too.

Note that in above sales product etc is just an example, my site doesnt have sales actually.
But my question is about how to filter on such verbs, dates, and display a maximum numbers of items from a document library.

Search does not find text in Word document stored in document library on a Report Center site within

We have a document library on a site created off of the Report Center site template. We uploaded a Word 2007 document with the word zebra in the text. Using the search bar at the top of the page we selected This list: Our document library and searched for zebra. We received no results.

We tested the same thing on another site (site template Team site) within the same site collection and search worked fine.

Does the Report Center search function differently then the search functionality on the Team site?

Document viewer on a documents Library & Tooltip Bubble on rollover

Hi everybody,
1 - I would like to know, if in Sharepoint 2007 ECM part (Documents Library), there's a downloadable webpart or an application to create a document viewer (pdf, doc, xls, msg...) in an iframe when you point the mousse over a document or something like that...
If it doesn't exist do you have in mind a code sample which can make something like that ? thank you.

2 - It's possible in a documents library to activate balloon tooltips which show us metas of the document (on mousse over), like an option or an application...

Thank you very much.
All the best.

Trying to include version history table inside Word document

Running MOSS 2007 with SP1, Office 2007.   I'm trying to create a table (doesn't have to be a table though) of a document's version history inside the document. This would be the history information kept by SharePoint. Since we can't even easily get just the current version number into the document I'm having problems and thought I'd see if anybody has a bright idea.   First, a couple facts. From Word 2007 it is possible to view the Document Library version information by clicking on the Office Button > Server > View Version History. This brings up the following: Click for screenshot   My goal is to get that version information displayed IN the document so when it is printed there is a document history. I tried using IRM label policies, but this only displays the current version and you can't include the comments.   After some digging I found the following code sample on MSDN:   Code SnippetDim dlvVersions As Office.DocumentLibraryVersions    Dim dlvVersion As Office.DocumentLibraryVersion    Dim strVersionInfo As String    Set dlvVersions = ActiveDocument.DocumentLibraryVersions    If dlvVersions.IsVersioningEnabled Then        strVersionInfo = "This document has " & dlvVersions.Count & " versions: " & vbCrLf        For Each dlvVersion In dlvVersions            strVersionInfo = strVersionInfo & _                " - Versi

SharePoint Programming: Replace content in documents of Document Library

HI, I have 100+ word documents in one of the document libraries on our SharePoint portal. Most of these documents contain HYPERLINKS which refer to a totally different SharePoint server. My task is to update all these HYPERLINKS to point to our server instead of external server. Any pointers on how to accomplish this would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance Mahesh B

sending documents from one document library to another

hi,   I'm encountering an error when trying to send a document from a document library to another document library in a separate web application using the send to > other location. Once I place the URL in the Destination document library or folder field and click test it opens the destination document library, however when I try to send the document I receive the error:   "could not find the destination item or folder on this server"   has anyone ever encountered this and if so how did you resolve it? Thanks in advance

Sharepoint 2007 - 80GB Documents in 1 document library

Hi, My customer wants 'customer docs' in SharePoint. It is now stored on several disks and wants to move it to SharePoint 2007(!). It needs to go into a folder structure.....I'm now investigating the information that needs to move to SharePoint and it turns out a quick scan resulted in 210.000 documents with a total volume of 80GB. Off course this is raw data and thus containing archives, zips, access databases and a lost movie and the like (just like any normal network drive :-)). When I look at the limits and best practices: no folder should contain more then 2.000 items (OK) no doc lib should contain more then 2.000.000 items (more then OK) no file should be larger then 2GB (OK - we set it to a max of 150MB) It is all fine but my concern is the shear size of the total load. Let's say they don't migrate 80GB but 30-50GB. My Question: can a single MOSS 2007 document library hold this kind of documents and total size? What does this mean for overall performance, backup, search indexing, crawling etc etc?  Thnx for any tips!

Listing documents in Folders and subfolders in a Dataview of Document Library

My dataview is pointed to a Document Library. I noitced files in folders and subfolders don't list - only the folders themselves.  Is there any way to list files in a particular folder or all files in all folders? What I'm trying to do is tie a folder to entries in a custom list. I'd like a folder for every ID in that custom list. When I open the Dispform for the ID, I'd like a dataview or some other webpart to dynamically to show related files (all which would ofcourse just be in their respective folder). I'm thinking it's just a matter of passing the ID querystring to a condition in the Dataview or Webpart. It would also have to be a folder as I need to allow same file names to be uploaded.   Thanks.

Office 2007 Documents Open in Read-Only when Opening them from a WSS 2.0 Document Library

Hi, When any of our Windows 7 Pro computers that run Office 2007 Pro attempt to open a Word document that resides in a WSS 2.0 document library by using the drop down menu and selecting "Edit with MS Word", the documents open in read-only.  Our work-around is to save the document locally, modify it, and then save it back to the document library. We have some Windows XP and Vista systems that run Office 2007 and they are fine and can simply edit the document and save it.  We also have a handful of pc's that run Office 2003 and they are not having any issues either. Things I've tried: Office 2007 Repair - no luck Office Reinstall - no luck Some registry mod HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\12\Internet\OpenDocumentReadWrite=1 (noted on a MSKB article) - no luck and after re-reading the article it clearly states that this will not address content hosted on WSS or SPS sites Clearing IE temp files, resttting IE to defaults - no luck Once again, this only seems to happen to Win7Pro pc's that run Office 2007.  Honestly, I can't tell if IE8 has anything to do with this. Any thoughts or help would be extrememly appreciated. Thanks, Mike
