This message pops up now when i try to do a manual backup on Sharepoint Services 3.0

Object SharePoint_Config_88b3e1df-2822-480f-a16b-05f56fb88679 failed in event OnBackup. For more information, see the error log located in the backup directory. SqlException: Access to table dbo.backupmediaset is blocked because the signature is not valid. Could not insert a backup or restore history/detail record in the msdb database. This may indicate a problem with the msdb database. The backup/restore operation was still successful. BACKUP DATABASE successfully processed 1139 pages in 1.611 seconds (5.788 MB/sec).

Also is there a way to automatically run this backup instead of doing it manually?

Proxy failed to create remote object on the server

Hi, I am using .net remoting for inter-process communication between two processes on the same machine 1.   The first process is one of the Office application: Ecxel /   Word /   PP 2.   The other process is another application that interacts with one of the above. For that it needs office application object. For example: Excel The solution is comprised with 3 projects: Project #1: The remote object is a simple Called RemoteOfficeApplication – that simply wraps the required application object (Word / Excel / PP).   Project #2: The Server is a simple Office add-in, written with a Visual Studio Extensibility -> Shared project. This add-in is instantiated whenever Excel is lunched. This project reference project #1. Code: var channel = new TcpChannel (5003); ChannelServices.RegisterChannel(channel,true ); RemotingConfiguration.RegisterWellKnownServiceType( typeof (RemoteOfficeApplication.RemoteOfficeApplication ), “AppObj”, WellKnownObjectMode .Singleton);   Project #3: The Client is the process that requires the application object. Synchronization for Shared Services Provider 'yyy' has failed. Event ID 5783

Hi all,

Hoping someone can shed some lights on this issue -

I'm getting 5783 application log warning (details below) one in every minute in my WFE. Time job status says Shared Services Provider Synchrorizing Job succeeded on this WFE (xxxWEB01) - but aborted on Application server (xxxAPP - where my CA is running) [see below]. Though there is no 5783 warnings in Application server logs. I also noticed if I disable the "Shared Services Provider Synchrorizing Job" - I don't get the warning on xxxWEB01.

I tried deleting old databases through the Sync STSADM command following this post with no luck.

This is a MOSS 2007 server farm with SP2 applied and 1 WFE, 1 Application server and 1 SQL 2005 server.

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advanced!

SharePoint Workflow : Failed to Start when a document is added to library from server-side object mo

When I add a document using my server-side object model code, I get an exception "The type or namespace name 'Office' does not exist in the namespace 'Microsoft'" in the server logs and in the library I can see the Workflow status as "Failed to Start".

Interestingly, when I add a document to the same library from sharepoint site portal, it works just fine, the workflow kicks off with the state : in-progress.

Also, I modified the task form for the Approval workflow template from SharePoint Designer using infopath.(Not sure if that be a problem as adding from portal works fine.)

What am I missing out here??

Getting SPRequest object was not disposed before the end of this thread in SP document library event

I am using a sharepoint event listener attached to a document library to export files when they are added or modified. Here is a partial stack trace from the SP log for the SPRequest object was not disposed:

This SPRequest was allocated at    at Microsoft.SharePoint.Library.SPRequest..ctor()     at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPGlobal.CreateSPRequestAndSetIdentity(SPSite site, String name, Boolean bNotGlobalAdminCode, String strUrl, Boolean bNotAddToContext, Byte[] UserToken, String userName, Boolean bIgnoreTokenTimeout, Boolean bAsAnonymous)     at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPWeb.InitializeSPRequest()     at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPFile.GetFileStream(OpenBinaryFlags openOptions, String etagNotMatch, String& etagNew)     at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPFile.OpenBinary(SPOpenBinaryOptions openOptions)     at Extract.SharePoint.Redaction.IdShieldFileListener.HandleSharePointFileEvent(SPItemEventProperties properties, FileEventType eventType)

Here is basically the code in the HandleSharePointFileEvent:

    public override void ItemUpdated(SPItemEventProperties properties)

ItemUpdating event handler causes SPRequest object was not disposed error if properties.ListItem is

I have a very simple ItemUpdating event handler that is causing an SPRequest object was not disposed error when it is fired. The event handler is linked to the document library. I have cleaned out all of my code and narrowed it down to this:

    public override void ItemUpdating(SPItemEventProperties properties)
      SPListItem item = properties.ListItem;

When I change the name of a file or folder in my document list the following line is logged in the SP log:

An SPRequest object was not disposed before the end of this thread.  To avoid wasting system resources, dispose of this object or its parent (such as an SPSite or SPWeb) as soon as you are done using it.  This object will now be disposed.  Allocation Id: {D7AA6805-4CA1-458B-9252-E83D32DBD0D3}  To determine where this object was allocated, set Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPWebService.ContentService.CollectSPRequestAllocationCallStacks = true.

As an extra note I have actually set the CollectSPRequestAllocationCallStacks to true, this is all the information that it gives me. If I comment out the pr

Failed to create receiver object when deploying solution

I get the following error

Failed to create receiver object from assembly "MySolution, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=d398c9a30aa5e960", class "MySolution.Features.MyFeature.MyEventReceiver" for feature "MySolution_MyFeature" (ID: d159bf93-828b-44d6-a449-b1fe4b8c6066).: System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null.
Parameter name: type
   at System.Activator.CreateInstance(Type type, Boolean nonPublic)
   at Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPFeatureDefinition.get_ReceiverObject()

when deploying my solution using stsadm.

.\stsadm -o deploysolution -name MySolution.wsp -allowgacdeployment -immediate
.\stsadm -o execadmsvcjobs

If I redeploy it using the same stsadm commands again it works.

The feature event receiver is in a dll that is deployed in the GAC in the same solution.

This has worked before and I wonder if there is some way I can troubleshoot this

Is there a way to access the Session object during the Session_End event?

I've tried, but all of my Session variables are coming up as Nothing when the Session_End event is run.  I'm trying to update log files to reflect that a session either timed out or was abandoned, but I'm not having any luck.  Has anyone else done something like this before?  If so, how?  At the very least, I'd like to be able to log the SessionID.

Suggestions are welcome!

Error loading and running event receiver: Object reference not set to an object instance

I'm getting the following error for my client's SharePoint production server.

Error loading and running event receiver myproject.Receivers.ListItem.ContentApprovalEventHandler in ..., Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=.... Additional information is below.  : Object reference not set to an object instance.

I know there are few posts already out there explaining the problem but I've not got the one matching my situation. The event receiver is working on dev and staging server but not on production. Few points I can mention here:

1. My event receiver is not calling. I have put a log at the very beginning of the receiver and put the whole event receiver code in try/catch block. In catch block I have thrown a custom error. So if my code would be executed then the custom error would be in log file.

2. The same event receiver is working on development and staging server.

3. Production is a farm whereas dev and staging server is standalone.

4. The production farm has two severs one of which is not configured properly.

5. I have tested with code and made sure the event receiver is registered with the list.

Apparently the problem might be permission/configuration related. Does anyone have any idea what might be the cause?

Thinking about new C# method prototypes: object as dictionary

I recently had to write a small Flickr API. I know many .Net API for Flickr already exist but I needed one for a Silverlight application. Whatever, it's only about building some querystrings so I did it by myself. It's been an opportunity to think again about a classical question: how to pass parameters to a method ?

Imagine you have a generic method to call some Flickr functions.
