SharePoint 2007 -People Picker stopped resolving user accounts after patch "February Cumulative Upda

I have a SharePoint serve 2007 farm, i was able to find users in one way trusted domains using the stsadm cmds for peoplepicker, after i installed the the patches from the February Cumulative Update (CU) i can no longer search domains for users, i have checked the stsadm peoplepicker commands and they are all still there.

i get the following when i look at the logs "Error in searching user 'domain users' : System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x8007052E): Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password" i know all passwords are good as they were working, and the search for accounts breaks as soon as the the patch is installed.

[Sharepoint 2007] How can i change the email of a sharepoint user ?

Hi all,

I have created a new sharepoint user.

1. First of all i have added a new user in active directory. However at that time i forgot to give an email address. Big mistake !

I cannot send mail from sharepoint workflow with the new user.

2. Therefore I updated the email addresd in active directory afterwards. But the change was not reflected in sharepoint.

I updated the mail in sharepoint adminsitrative user profile. But it did not make no difference in the user moss profile.

I followed the article in http://sharepointnotes.wordpress.com/2008/05/05/syncing-wss-and-moss-user-profile-properties-with-active-directory/

I did the following commands :

1. stsadm -o sync
2. stsadm -o sync -synctiming m:2
3. stsadm -o sync -deleteolddatabases 6
 stsadm -o sync

None of these commands updated the user properties mail for my new MOSS User.

I also rebooted the machine but my MOSS user email was not updated.

Also I used the tool at http://userprofilesync.codeplex.com/releases/view/13227
like the following :

tool>UserProfileSync.exe -url http://mysite -ssp http://mysite:37239/ssp/admin
I did not make any difference

What else can I try in order to update the email of my MOSS user ?

User Profiles Service Application and Import of SharePoint 2007 SSP data

I have setup a test SharePoint 2010 Farm. I will be using this as a test upgrade of a current live SharePoint 2007 Farm. The database attach method will be used. I have replicated the web application and AAM settings of the SharePoint 2007 Farm to the SharePoint 2010 Farm and have made the 2010 Farm a DC in a new Forest. I don't want to join this to the current domain at the moment. It also has SQL server 2005 with SP3 and cumulative update 3 installed. I have just setup the User Profiles Serice Application and when I go to Manage it, I get this. Error An unexpected error has occurred.   Troubleshoot issues with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation. Correlation ID: a1760e87-372f-4711-afac-3ceba34bc599 Date and Time: 8/31/2010 4:22:56 PM I have verified and configured the following. Created the Managed Metadata Service. The status is started via Service Applications and Services on Server. Created the User Profiles Service Application and ensured status is started via Service Applications. I started the User Profile Service and User Profile Synchronisation Service via Manage Services on Server.      

SharePoint 2007 - Survey list - Getting user's Windows account ID from a web service using display

Surveys...grrrr.   I am developing a .NET console application that accesses survey data from a single survey list using the MOSS web service "Lists".   I am able to enumerate the survey list and get to the items except for the author of the survey response.  When I get to the column ows_Author, it appears to be a lookup value formatted like this:  "1066;#JOHN DOE".   How can I, using web services alone, lookup the corresponding Windows login ID of that user?  If I go to the survey in SharePoint and click on the name in the view, it takes me to a site-based user profile page that does show the account ID I want.  The page that displays appears to be a virtualized page like this "_layouts/userdisp.aspx?ID=1066".   What I really need is JOHN DOE's account ID like "domain\id". Can I get to this with the data I have available? Thanks

Document is read-only in SharePoint, but user sees "check out" option in Office 2007 / Word / Excel

I am finding that when there is a document library in SharePoint with checkin/checkout required, if a user with read-only ("Visitor") permissions opens a document from that library, the document will open as read-only in Word, Excel, etc., but the user will see the "Server Document" bar with the message "To modify this document, you must check it out" and the "check out" button.  When the user tries to check the document out, they are asked to authenticate, and then receive the error "Cannot perform this operation.  The file has been deleted or someone else has it checked out."    How is it possible to prevent a user with read-only rights in SharePoint from seeing the "Check out" option in Word or Excel?

MOSS 2007 - SharePoint Designer Workflow failing when using group vs individual user

I am creating a simple workflow in SharePoint designer that will email a selected user when a list is modified.  I am applying the condition "if modified by" in Designer.  This condition works fine and the email is sent when I select a specific user myDomain\username.  It does not work when I attempt to associate a SharePoint group with the "if modified by" filter. In my example the list has only one SharePoint group associated with it, this is the only group with permissions for the list.  The group contains multiple users. The workflow is successful with the following scenario: if modified by myDomain\user1 or if modified by myDomain\user2 The workflow fails with the follwoing scenario: if modified by mySharePointGroupName  (which includes myDomain\user1 and myDomain\user2) This would be an ungodly if statement with a large membership SharePoint group.  This would also be a nightmare as people leave the organization and their account credentials are left in the large if statement in the workflow.  Looking for the modified condition when associated with a group seems like the logical way of doing this. I also tried "myDomain\domain users" which accounts for all user in my domain, this failed as well. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sharepoint Server 2007. Sharepoint Designer workflow not starting for one user only.


We have created a custom workflow in SPD that is attached to a document library within a MOSS 2007 teamsite.

The workflow is set to trigger when a new item is created in the document library.

Previously, the workflow has worked fine for all users but recently has stopped working for one user only.

For the problem user, what we are seeing is that when a new item is created in the document library, the attached workflow never starts.  There is no error, the workflow just does not get triggered.  However, if the problem user goes to an item in the document library and clicks on the workflow she can manually start it and it works fine with no error.

This user has the same permissions on the site as others who do not have any problem.

In the course of investigating this problem, we have temporarily increased the problem users permissions on the document library to full control (was contribute before) but this has had no effect on the problem.  Authentication is being done via Active Directory.  We have tried removing the user from the site and re-instating her but again this has no impact.

Does anyone have any idea how we could fix this problem or further debug it?

MOSS 2007 to SharePoint 2010 Upgrade Fails - Exception: The user or group 'wsaarole:wsaa administra


Ok the top part of the error I have tracked down to some entries in the SharePoint_Config database (Classes, Objects, TimerRunningJobs) and since I have a VM I am going to study them and try deleting them probably, if it dies I will delete this VM and roll up another VM in my case its a timer job that I am guessing the farm can live without.

The other error further down is more of a concern to me which is the one I listed above. The Group exists and it is in the farm and appears to be healthy no errors in preugrade check or the like or in the Farm. When upgrading the show stopper for me is that the content databases will not upgrade (assuming they upgrade FBA I can configure) the chicken and egg issue for me is this is an FBA farm, so is it the case that b/c FBA is missing not configured yet on the other side of the upgrade in 2010 that these content dbs connected to FBA (by FBA users in the content dbs) will upgrade affter FBA is configured ( I haven't tried this yet sorting my error log one error at a time). The Particular content dbs with an issue are shared services and the main site collection db which includes my sites site collections also.

How can I filter a Sharepoint 2007 libarry list based on current user login?


Hi all.

I would like to know how I can filter a SharePoint library list based on current user login.

Suppose I have created the followings:

1) A SharePoint form library containing bunch of uploaded InfoPath form data.

2) The InfoPath form template contains a promoted text field called "TargetUser" to store user domain login (ex: DOMAIN\JOE) and every InfoPath form file in the library has a valid domain name stored in the "TargetUser" field.

I have created a custom view for the form library and would like to filter this view so only items whose "TargetUser" field matches current user's login ID are displayed.

I went to Edit View page to customize the view and tried to use the [Me] function but I got a "Filter value is not a valid text string" message instead when clicking OK. Apparently [Me] returns a Person/Group data type and the filter cannot compare its value to that of "TargetUser".

I tried using text functions (ex: TEXT([Me],"") hoping to extract default string value from [Me]. The filter accepts the parameter without any error but the resulting fitlered list does not display any items at all.

I have googled this subject for hours but I have not found any solution.

GetRoleCollectionFromUser() returns "User Not Found" 0x80131600 in Sharepoint 2007



I am using GetUserCollectionFromSite() to get the list of users for a site, and with the same list i am calling
GetRoleCollectionFromUser() using login Name i got from previous method. The method is returning a "User Not found" 0x80131600 error. I am the site collection admin for this site and even if i hard code my login name as Domain\UserName(NT ID in this case) i get this error. Please help.

Sharepoint Designer 2007 - Workflows stopped and can't create custom NewForm or custom EditForm


Everything was working great until the last few days when I made the SP site more robust. I am now ready to create a custom New Form so that my "requestor" doesn't have to deal with all of the fields. I want to create a custom Edit List so that I can hide all of the flags that get tripped while completing workflows. This morning I tried to create the NewForm (as I have done in the past) but nothing loads. I tried creating it with a different list, and it loaded fine so I know it has something to do with my list. I tried executing workflows so that I might be able to narrow down the problem, but now no workflows work even though they did a couple of days ago.

One of the items added as a "pause until" workflow. I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. I also have roughly 85 fields. I haven't seen anywhere on the blogs that the number of fields is an issue but you never know.

Can anyone help? Please?

How to hide the list column based on user login in SharePoint 2007

Hi, I have two different SharePoint group named 'Sales' group and 'HR' group. In a SharePoint list i have 10 columns. out of it i want to display 8 column for 'Sales' group and to show all the column for 'HR' group. I want to do this base on the user login. Selecting a Task List in Sharepoint Designer 2007 while setting up "Collect Data from User"

When using Sharepoint Designer 2007 to Collect Data from User the task list cannot be selected.  Instead the Task list that is defaulted is the most recently created Task List.  How can I select a specific Task list to associate with"Collect Data from User"?
