http 400 Error when performing item upload after setting custom edit form on content type

What I am trying to do is create custom edit forms for different content types within the same document library.....so basically I have done the following:

  • I have created two site content types and reconfigured my library to use CT's.
  • I then connected to my site using SPD.
  • When examining my library I can see that I have the two CT that I added earlier.  I then created a new editform for one the CTs using the top ribbon menu and in the drop down box associated it to the CT.  I did not select this as the default form for the library.
  • I then updated the library CT (not site CT) with the url to form in the editform properties.

When I create a document and edit the properties it works fine - totally as expected.  However when I upload a document the default EditForm for the library is used and I can select the CT to associate the document to.  When I choose the CT with the custom form the new edit form is not found and I get a page not found error - http 400.

The full url for this library is is http://XXXX/functions/ehs/CSI

So the URL I have used is /functions/ehs/CSI/Forms/EditForm2.aspx (EditForm2.aspx) is my form and this is fine.  I have even used CSI/Forms/EditForm2.aspx and this works...  BUT ne

Unable to Show Edit item Links in Data Form Web Part

I have a DFWP connected to custom list and the boxes to Show Edit Item Links, Show Delete item links and Show Insert Item links are grayed out so that they can not be checked. This works fine when I use a DFWP connected to a standard list (i.e., Contacts). Is there something special that needs to be done to activate this functionality?ThanksDean

Custom Edit form - close modal dialog and navigate to page

Hi, I created one custom edit form for my document library, replaced default save and cancel buttons with input buttons and added the form action to them. Then I set my page as default edit form. When I click edit button, my custom form opens in modal pop up. When I try to save the item by clicking new save button, item gets saved but pop remains as it is. Now, I want the modal pop up to get closed and navigate to page other than the parent page with some parameters after I click save button. How can I achieve this? Thanks!!

create task edit form issues for sharepoint 2010 workflow using visual studio 2010

I use infopath 2007 created a task edit form and I use VS 2010 to create a sequential workflow.I want to use the custom tash edit form in the workflow. The problem I got is the InfoPath form doesn't get deployed to sharepoint. custom edit form through a content type and deploy it as a feature.. the RTM version of sharepoint 2010 does not register the custom forms. the elements.xml is pretty straight forward..

Sharepoint Foundation - Create and deploy custom edit/view forms for external lists

Firstly, we are using sharepoint foundation so Infopath forms are not an option for us.

We have a Visual Studio sharepoint project which deploys a complete sharepoint site. The site contains a number of external lists and we want to be able to create customised view/edit forms for these lists and add them to our Visual Studio project so they can be deployed as part of the new site. The idea is that we can deploy the solution to a fresh site with a default set of forms which can then be customised for different implementations of the site.

Here's the steps we have been using to try and do this:

1. Deploy the base project (BDC) to the sharepoint site

2. Create external lists based on the BDC content types

3. Use Sharepoint Designer to create new edit/view forms for the lists and set these as the default forms for the list

3. Save the site as a template

4. Import the template into a new Visual Studio project and select the lists we require. This gives us a List Definition, a pages module (with element file), an elements file and a schema file (both for the List Instance).

5. We then add the contents of the imported project to our main solution as follows:

  • Create a new List Definition (including List Instance)
  • Copy the contents of the imported Elements.xml to the Elements file for our List Instance.

InfoPath error: One or more required custom controls in this form cannot be created

I have an InfoPath 2007 form published to a form library in MOSS 2007.  This form opens in InfoPath and is not browser-enabled.

The form suddenly stopped working for me and 1 other user.  I'm a farm admin and the user only has contributor rights on the form library (and site and subsite).  Everyone else with appropriate permissions can access existing forms that use the template and can create new forms using the template.

When either one of us tries to open the form, we get:

InfoPath cannot open the following file: http://site/subsite/formlibrary/filename.xml?OpenIn=PreferClient&NoRedirect=true&XmlLocation=/subsite/formlibrary/filename.xml.
One or more required custom controls in this form cannot be created.

No errors in the web front end event log or SharePoint log files.  No errors in my client PC's event log.

I've tried the following without success:

Opening the template and publishing it to a new list.
Published the template to a new content type on this list and a new list.
Dumped IE cache and reset IE settings.
Rebooted the computer.
Checked permissions on the list to make sure they were correct.

Last change made to the farm:

Error creating edit form for external list - Failed to find the default form for PAGETYPE PAGE_NEWFO

For the last few days we have been unable to create custom new/edit forms for External Lists in Sharepoint Designer.  When i try to create a form Sharepoint Designer show the message 'Could not save the list changes to the server'.  The corresponding message in the ULS log file is 'Failed to find the default form for PAGETYPE PAGE_NEWFORM'.  Does this mean i have somehow managed to break the form templates for External Lists?

I saw some other posts about the 'Could not save the list changes to the server' error and followed the suggested steps including removing all versions of the list and related content type, and recreatign htem but this didn't work.

How can I show version history on a custom edit form?

I have a simple list that contains aa title and a number field.  On the edit form, I want to show all prior updates to the number field, like so:

Title:  ABC
01/01/2010     10  Updated by: user1
02/01/2010     20  Updated by: user2
Count:            <Textbox for input>

I can create a custom edit form in Designer, but by default I get a DataFormWebPart with an XSLT.  I don't know how to configure the data source to pull all versions so that they could be shown in the XSLT.  If I can't use the DFWP and have to do everything custom, please provide details and/or links.

This is for WSS 3.0.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Attach File causing JavaScript error on Custom Form

Let me first apologize for this fairly large post. I've basically laid out the problem I'm having and then how I solved it initially then what the final problem.  The reason I put all of the steps is because I am open to any suggestions about handling this different.  If you want to skip to the actual problem, scroll down until you see the text "-----Go here if you want to see the actual problem-----"

Okay, so now the problem:
I have a lookup field called Room Name in a calendar that is looking data up from a list of rooms.  I have programmatically set the permissions of the room name list items to only allow members of different groups to see certain items.

When people go to the calendar and create a new event, they can only choose rooms that I set their group as having permission to choose.  This works great, but it has an unfortunate side effect.  When viewing an event on the calendar, if you are not of a memeber of the group that has read permissions for the item selected in Room Name, you can't see it.  This makes sense internally because of the way I set permissions.  For each item in the list of rooms, if you are a member of a group that should be able to read that item, I give you read permission, otherwise you have no permission for it.

Unfortunately, the viewing of the events is done by people other than those who create the

Custom Edit Form Attachment Problems (not the typical one)

Latest versions of MOSS 2007 and SPD with all SP and applicable hotfixes.

I create a new edit form by right-clicking on the original edit form and selecting "New from existing page".  Then I set to "default to master content" and then add a custom list form.  It works fine....attachments and everything.

However, once I make any changes whatsoever within the newly-created DataFormWebPart, like moving a field to another cell or adding some text, the attach file function starts acting weird.  You hit the "Attach File" button on the toolbar and the DataForm is hidden and the attach file area is displayed as usual, but when you select a file and hit "OK", it simply blanks the attach file field and doesn't return to the DataForm.  You can select other files and attach them fine, but you have to hit "cancel" on the attach file function in order to return to the DataForm.  When you do that, the newly-added files are there and are saved properly when you save the list item.

I've spent days searching for a solution for this.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Edit:   This issue is also present on our development farm.  If nothing else, can somebody take a few minutes and try to duplicate?
