Sending Calculated value from DVWP to another list in SP2007

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 14, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#

I have a list which contains values entered by multiple users for column1,column 2 and column 3.

I created a new .aspx page and inserted DVWP and added the custom list.

I found the sum of all values entered in column 1 (using XPath sum function).

Now I need to send that sum value to a column named sumcol1 in another list.

How can I do this?

Thanks in advance.

DVWP not displaying a column as per the original list

I have a data view web part which displays a list column that allows multiple items to be selected from another list.  So in this column (in the actual list), the content in a particular cell is as follows:

6698; 1211; 3342; 1231; 1231

However, when I insert this field into the DVWP, the content above ends up losing all the spaces and so looks like this:

I am not sure why this is happening, and plus some of the entries in this column are made up of a very long string of numbers.  Even if I control the width of the column, this long list only ever gets displayed on one line (i.e. width restriction is ignored), therefore my page is being displayed very wide.  I think this is happening because of the lack of spaces in the string, but am not sure.

Does anyone know what is going on here?

Thanks for taking time to read.

Calculated date field displays differently in List View and Data View web parts

In SharePoint GUI I created a simple custom list with a calculated Date/Time field (Due).  The calculation is =[Created]+7.  I'm trying to display this data on a page using a DVWP.  But first, for testing purposes, I also created a second calculated Date/Time (TestCreate) field in my custom list that is simply =[Created]. In the List View from within SharePoint, the dates show as expected (for example): Created = 8/12/2010 3:45 PM Due = 8/19/2010 3:45 PM TestCreate = 8/12/2010 3:45 PM In SharePoint Designer, I added a Data View web part and the above three data elements (each configured to display mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss tt).  I see the time displayed for the example list item as: Created = 8/12/2010 3:45:30 PM Due = 8/19/2010 10:45:00 AM TestCreate = 8/12/2010 10:45:00 AM I've tested a couple scenarios and the calculated fields always display five hours in the past (along with dropping the seconds).  It seems like the DVWP is returning the date in a different time zone (with no seconds).  The lcid is set right (1033).  I didn't see any time zone settings for the DVWP specifically.  I'm basically stuck.  Could someone help me figure this one out. Thanks.

Sending Email To A List

ListData.svc fails if list has calculated column with Yes/No (boolean) return type

I have a list with a calculated column whose return type is Yes/No.  If I try to browse to the list or a list item using REST via ListData.svc, I get the error "An error occurred while processing this request".  Can't seem to find anything in 14\LOGS or the System or Application event logs.  I've tried multiple calculation formulas such as:

Both display "Yes" when viewing through the SharePoint UI and are sortable and filterable.  If I change the calculated column return type to anything else (single line of text, currency, date/time, etc.) and update the formula as necessary, ListData.svc displays the list item XML as expected.  If I replace the calculated column with a regular column whose type is Yes/No, ListData.svc displays the list item XML as expected.

Is this a known bug?  Is there a workaround (other than manually casting to bool in my code)?

InfoPath Submitt sending to and Exchange Distribution List

I have an Infopath form that needs to send the completed form to a large distribution list.  Using the data connection wizard to send an email seems to take manually entered email addresses but does not appear to accept an actual exchange distribution list.  Since we need a logical place to maintain this distribution list rather than editing the Infopath form as people change, what would you suggest.

We have implemented Qdabara Contact Selector to pick recipients linked to active directory for random email addresses to distribute to.

SharePoint calculated field based on other list values

Hello Everybody!

I have a repeating list that seems like that

List 1

Title    Number

A        10

B        11

A        11

B        9

I need to create a list with a field that contains each different titles from list 1 (A + B) and another column with the sum of the numbers associated with A or B in list 1.

List 2

Title     Number

A         21

B         20

My problem is that I don't know which method using to do that.

Calculated field can only use list field (not external list), infopath can get this but I don't know how to do it.

I wanted to know if someone has an issue other than developing. Because my client doesn't want to pay for a development.

Thank you very much!!!!

InfoPath Calculated Field doesn't Post to SharePoint List when form is submitted

I have a nice InfoPath form that includes a calculated total field.  That works great.   The form is published to a SharePoint list and when users of the form Submit the form to the list the form information neatly populates to the list.   Well, all of the fields populate to the list except for the calculated total field, that one is just blank.  Naturally, I've noodled around to figure out why and therefore I'm here now asking for guidance.   What should I be focusing on to resolve this issue?

I am trying to use predefined column Created to get the date created and I am in a confused state of how to include the today date functionality and get the difference in terms of Days /Hours.Can some body guide me on how to implement this in my list definition .I need to achieve this by using pure XML but not by any coding.

Calculated column based on other columns in Lookup list selection

.. if that makes any sense.

I have a list with with lookup column to another list. that list has other columns.

I want to add a calculated column on the parent list, that set it's value to column from another list, but based on my selection in the lookup column of the parent.

Possible? presuming the calculated column  gets set when I submit and not interactively? what if edit the data and change my selection?

How can I list all unused Site Collections in SP2007?

We have about 600 site collections and I believe only about 1/3 of them are in use.  I need to find out which ones are no longer in use (or, a list of which sites ARE in use would be fine).  Any way to get a list of these sites would be great.

I know I can go to each site collection one-by-one and look at the usage to see if it has been used recently, but doing that with 600 sites isn't an option.  It would take forever.

I also know that I can turn on Site use confirmation and deletion, but bombarding users with strange e-mails about sites they've long forgotten about and waiting for a response is also not an option.  I don't want any automatic deletion, I just want to see a list of the sites.

Is there any way I can quickly/easily view the site usage for every site collection?  I want to get an idea of which sites would be deleted, how many are unused, etc.

Ready made List Types provided by SharePoint

SharePoint provides some out of the box List Types. Some of the most used ready made list types that SharePoint provides currently are listed below:

Export SharePoint List to Excel Spreadsheet Programmatically using C#

In SharePoint applications, Custom Lists are used to store business data and Document Libraries to store the documents. But for data manupulation and analysis, Microsoft Excel provides very rich features as compared to SharePoint Lists. That's why people still loves to work on Microsoft Excel Sheets.
