How can I stop CR from being removed when a multi-line textbox in a section is within another sectio

Posted By:      Posted Date: April 14, 2011    Points: 0   Category :C#

Hi,

I have a multi-line text box that sits in an optional section. This optional section is within another optional section. When it is displayed it has CR removed. I know that it does work when there is only one encompassing section.

Does anyone know how to stop this happening? Any clever little tricks...;)

Actually - just tested again and I can get it to work sometimes i.e. when I first open the form, but then it will remove CR from the mentioned section when another optional section is opened - any ideas????

Thanks.

John.

Is textbox the only control with a multi-line option?

I was trying to use a label control to print out a string with spaces and line feeds, but with no success. Textbox is the only control I have found so far that will print my line feeds (ControlChars.Lf)  However, can I remove the scrollbar from the textbox display that appears when textboxmode is set to multiline? -smc

Mission Impossible? Use Javascript to Disable a Multi-Line Rich Text Field

Hey Community,

Here's a tough one that I have struggled with and so far have not been able to find an answer for - how do you use Javascript to disable a multi-line rich text field.  I have customized a SP Edit form by adding a CEWP.  In the CEWP I have added the Javascript below (only a partial code sample provided) to disable several fields in the form.  The code works fine for single line text fields but it does not work for multi-line rich text fields.  Any suggestions?

<script language="javascript">
//This runs the function when the form first loads
_spBodyOnLoadFunctionNames.push("lockFields");

//This locks the fields the users should not modify
function lockFields()
{
  var theInputTFTitle = getTagFromIdentifierAndTitle("Input","TextField","Title");
  theInputTFTitle.readOnly = true;
  theInputTFTitle.style.color = 'gray';
  //alert(" Value: " + theInputTFTitle.value);//for testing

   var theInputDDLReplyStatus = getTagFromIdentifierAndTitle("select","DropDownChoice","Reply Status");
  theInputDDLReplyStatus.disabled = true;
  //alert(" Value: " + theInputDDLReplyStatus.value);//for testing

multi-line regex in C#

Hi, I am sure this is really simple, but i can't figure it out. I have a string that looks like this: REV=A1 STATUS=Working I would like to grab 'A1' and 'Working', in a single regex, but i cannot seem to handle the linebreak. I have tried putting something together in Rad's Regular expressions designer and this pattern will match it all: REV=(?<Rev>.{2}) STATUS=(?<Status>.+) but i don't know to write a two-lined regex in C#. I have also tried to include the linebreak, with both \n and \r, but none of them worked. So, how is my pattern suppoed to look for this?Nicolai Søndergaard LM Glasfiber A/S

regular expression: Read a multi line paragraph

I am trying to build a regular expression that will capture a paragraph of any length that starts with "Ordinance Summary:" and ends with "<=>" but doesn't actually include them in the selection.  And I need it to stop at the first instance of <=>. Here is an example of what what I might encounter: "Ordinance Summary: Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. Maecenas porttitor congue massa. Fusce posuere, magna sed pulvinar ultricies, purus lectus malesuada libero, sit amet commodo magna eros quis urna. Nunc viverra imperdiet enim. Fusce est. Vivamus a tellus. Pellentesque habitant morbi tristique senectus et netus et malesuada fames ac turpis egestas. Proin pharetra nonummy pede. Mauris et orci. Aenean nec lorem.<=> Ordinance Sponsor:Rhuarch<=>"   And here is what I would need it to actually capture: Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. Maecenas porttitor congue massa. Fusce posuere, magna sed pulvinar ultricies, purus lectus malesuada libero, sit amet commodo magna eros quis urna. Nunc viverra imperdiet enim. Fusce est. Vivamus a tellus. Reading MultiLine TextBox line by line

If I have a list of something in a MultiLine TextBox, one item per line, how do I then in turn read this? Right now TextBox.Text reads it all as one line. Lets say we have this: TextBox txtbx; At first I thought I could split the string on Environment.Newline, this doesn't work.  Error.Next I thought I could Replace(Environment.Newline,";").Split(";"); This didn't work either, Error.  Both gave cannot convert string to char[] exceptions. What I want to be able to do is read the input line by line and do something with each item one by one. Does anyone know how to do this?Thanks.

How do I stop line feeds in a Hierarchy field from a SharePoint list to prevent wrapping

I'm developing a Reporting Services 2005 report that includes a Hierarchy field from a SharePoint 2007 list.  The Data Source for the report is an XML type. I would like to display the Hierarchy field on 1 line.  However, it is displaying in 2 or more lines. The field also wraps when rendering to Acrobat (PDF) file.  How can I get rid of the embedded line feed (I believe it's "&#xA").  I've tried using the Replace function in an expression, other functions and changed the properties, e.g., the CanGrow property.  Nothing seems to work. Does anybody have any suggestions?  Thanks.

Infopath browser form - odd behaviour on auto expanding multi line text boxes

Hi,

I have a browser form with a multi line text box. The height is set to be AUTO. Within the client all is fine. When opened as an administrator approved form the text box automatically adds a new line for every 20 characters you type.

So if you type 40 characters without pressing enter you get 2 blank lines appear under you text that you CANNOT remove.

I have tested this on a new form with various multi line text boxes. The width setting is unimportant, the spell check setting is unimportant.

If i fix the height then the issue goes away but this is not any good.

I cannot use rich text boxes as i have around 40 text boxes on the form and if they are rich text they take around 10 minutes to load in the browser (this is another issue i have)

Thanks in advance

Paul

Removing first line/getting TextRange from TextBox

Hello,

I have a plain TextBox and I need to remove the first line in it. Better than setting the Text property with whole new content I thought I would get a TextRange containing the first line and set its Text to empty string, but I cannot figure out how to get TextPointers from the TextBox.

Any idea how to get it or other way to do it?

Thanks,
Jan

Trying to display only the last line of a Multiline TextBox

Hi all,

On my Asp.Net GridView I am binding a textbox to a field in SQL. Sometimes the content of the textbox is more than 1 line and I
need to show only the LAST line. How can I do that? Here is part of my code...notice that I use Rows=1 on purpose so that
I am able to show only 1 line but I need it to scroll all the way down and have it show only the last line of the whole content:

<ItemTemplate>
  <asp:TextBox ID="txtBoxComments" runat="server" MaxLength="5000" ReadOnly="true" Rows="1" Text='<%# Eval("Comments") %>'
      TextMode="MultiLine" Width="100%" Wrap="true" />

How to input line breaks and formating in textbox with multilines ?

I have a web form in which anyone can fill out the information and i recieve the information.

<asp:TextBox ID="Body" runat="server" Columns="55" Height="101px" Rows="30" TextMode="MultiLine"
                            Width="400px"></asp:TextBox>

The problem is while entering the information in this text box, if anyone used enter line or different line or any kind of formatting, as a result i don't get the formatted page or with lines. I see only a paragraph which is very difficult to read and understand.

How to make my textbox compatible with all kind of formatting options so that even if someone paste information from word etc in the text box , i should get the formatter information just like the user pasted the information in the text box...

Page layout - Custom Multi line field limits at 255 chars

Hi group,

I hope i use the correct terms since I have a DUTCH :-( Sharepoint version.

I created a new Site Content Type, called activity.

I added a new column (Add from new site column)

The type of this column is: Multiple lines of text.

(I choose this because single line of text can contain up to 255 chars)

In Microsoft Office Sharepoint Designer (MOSD) I created a new pagelayout (File => new => Sharepoint Content => pagelayout)

and inserted the field activity to the .aspx page.

<SharePointWebControls:NoteField FieldName="Comments" runat="server"></SharePointWebControls:NoteField>

Why is the fieldname Comments I expected Activity?

I then created a new page (in MOSS) based on the created pagelayout.

Works like a charm.

Problem: I cannot add more than 255 chars to the field activity although it is a multiline type.

Does anybody
