Posted By:      Posted Date: April 14, 2011    Points: 0   Category :Windows Application

Hi All,

I created some local reports (RDLC) in ASP.NET 2008. Iwant to print those reports unattended that is i don't

want user interactions.

I googled and found that RSClient ActiveX can help me in achieving this task, but i do't know how to pass parameter

to local report (RDLC) and load that file in RSClient ActiveX control to print the report.

To achieve this i also tried to implement RSClientPrint ActiveX but unable to get it work.

Can anyone please help me ?

Thank You

Printing Landscape oriented reports with SSRS 2008 and SQL Server 2008 R2

I am having issues when I print reports with SSRS 2008. We have an web application that uses the Report Viewer control to preview our Reports in a popup window. The preview page shows the report in the correct orientation and so does any report that has been exported to PDF or Excel file.

The problem arises when we print the report. For some reason any report set to landscape is still being printed in Portrait orientation. The reports have their heights and width properly set, i.e., for portrait reports we have the layout set to 8.5in x 11in and for landscape reports we have the layout set to 11in x 8.5in.

I have done some research and I did not get a conclusive answer, it seems that this happens because of a bug or maybe because how my ReportViewer object in the aspx page is being set.

I would deeply appreciate any extra info you guys can provide.

Scripting SQL: VBScript Interfaces in SQL Server 2000 Let You Transform Data and Provide Reports to

Application service providers often must send information to clients automatically rather than on-demand. For example, a manufacturer may want to know each day how many of their products were sold by a retail chain. While SQL Server is ideal for maintaining this type of database, you have to write scripts to get the data out in a client-friendly format. Here you will see how you can use Data Transformation Services (DTS), a powerful tool in SQL Server, to automate the retrieval and formatting of data from SQL Server 2000 and make the process of pushing data to your users a lot easier.

Crystal Reports Server

Hi We recently purchased a crystal reports server 2008 V1 License for Concurrent Users and 0 Named Users. What does this CAL mean? Does this mean that only 5 users can login at a time and view the reports? We tried initially but was not able to view since they got an error. How can i have more people log in at a time and view reports with the license we bought. Another problem is we are facing some deployment issues while deploying the reports from Crystal Rports on our client machines to this server? Some times we are able to do, but some times it will get stuck and throws upan error   Can somebody tell me about this CR Server 2008 and provide me any nice documents for setting up the users and how to use Crystal Report Server 2008?

Printing Issue in SSRS reports

Hi,   We developed around 70 ssrs reports for our new application. Its like, all the report names are mentioned in the left hand side and if we click it,.Net calls the SSRS reports and shows in the Right hand side.   The issue now is with the Printing. My client complains that they are not able to print the Reports properly. Some of the columns are moved to the next page,it seems.Reports are having different number of columns and we dont know how to resolve this issue.Should I use Landscape or Portrait?..If I give the table's width in the place of Report's width, will it work?    Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Health Analyzer reports "Product / patch installation or server upgrade required." and I can't seem

The text of the error is: On server SHAREPOINTSERVER, once all required products and/or patches are installed, perform an upgrade by either running PSConfigUI.exe or by executing the command "PSConfig.exe -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -force -cmd applicationcontent -install -cmd installfeatures". If a former upgrade attempt has failed, you may need to resolve upgrade specific issues before attempting upgrade again. Refer to the upgrade status page (http://sharepointserver:XXXX/_admin/UpgradeStatus.aspx) for information about current and prior upgrade attempts, and to determine issues that may be preventing upgrade from succeeding. For more information about this rule, see "http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=142700". So I went to the server in question and ran the command line quoted in the error message and then I get this error back: Configuration of SharePoint Products failed. Configuration must be performed before you use SharePoint Products. For further details, see the diagnostic log located at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\1 4\LOGS\PSCDiagnostics_....log and the application event log. So fine, I look into the event log and get this: Failed to initiate the upgrade sequence. An exception of type System.IO.IOException was thrown. Additional exception information: Access to the path 'C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\SharePoi

Cannot Deploy Reports to Report server - Times Out

I have SQL Server 2008 Developer SP1 on XP Pro SP3 to become familiar with its capabilities.  I installed the AdventureWorks sample database and was able to generate a cube, but I have not had the same success with reports.  I am trying to publish the sample reports to Report Server, but every report fails.  The errors says that the operation timed out.  However, the data sourse appears to publish correctly.  When I go to Report Manager, the data source is in the Data Sources folder and I see the AdventureWorks 2008 Sample Reports folder, but it's empty.  I tried loading the rdl file from within Report Manager, but it also fails.  Eventually, it gives me an empty dialog box for a username and password, but I configured Report Services to use a built-in account so I do not have a username or password to provide.  I have been searching forums for the past week, but cannot find anyone with a similar issue. Here is the portion of the log dealing with the deployment error: library!ReportServer_0-2!a44!06/06/2010-04:16:24:: Call to GetItemTypeAction(/AdventureWorks 2008 Sample Reports). library!ReportServer_0-2!a44!06/06/2010-04:16:24:: Call to GetItemTypeAction(/Data Sources). library!ReportServer_0-2!a44!06/06/2010-04:16:24:: Call to GetItemTypeAction(/Data Sources/AdventureWorks2008). library!ReportServer_0-2!a44

Win server 2003+ Sharepoint 2007+SQL Server 2008 ,reports view issue?

I hope someone may shed some light on a serious obstacle encountered on a client site:

We have implemented a SharePoint integrated report services solution for the client on a single server

Server = Windows 2003

SQL = 2008

MOSS 2007

Web application = servername:8888 (default) - windows auth

Web application extension 1 servername:8889 (extranet) forms auth

Web application extension 2 servername:8887 (intranet) forms auth

Reports are visible and can be run (renders) on internal sites

However, there is an external site which allows users to access the reports - the issue is, the reports then dont run and I get this:

"An unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report server. Verify that the report server is available and configured for SharePoint integrated mode."

Though I have not actually seen the firewall config of the AAM, the client assures me it has been setup properly.

If the AAM is setup correctly, what could be the problem? The server is clearly available and confgured in SharePoint integrated mode.

has anyone experienced the scenario where clients want to publish their reports on an external site? What can one do to see any errors other than the one line message (tried enabling custom errors, but no good)

does the sql server 2008 R2 support movable columns in a tablix (in Reports)

is there a way to build a report with a tablix and let the columns movable for the users?
from another post i figured out, that this feature is not supported in sql server 2008.
is it featured in  2008 R2 or in 2010? :)

thanks Johnny

Convert Text to Numeric in reports generated by Microsoft SQL Server 2000

Our programming team is producing Excel reports using Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and cannot seem to find a way to produce numeric data as numeric.  It is being produced in the spread sheet as text (with the green triangle in the corner of the cell).  If the user viewing the report has an older version of Excel they cannot even convert it to numeric manually.

Is there a way to produce numeric data as numeric in the Excel report?
